The Suburito is a specialized ancient training weapon thats meant to simulate the weight of a real Japanese sword. Primarily intended for solo practice or cutting drills, it inspires respect, as it hits with terrific force. Our interpretation was inspired by a wooden Suburito in Akido 5th Dan, Andrew Demkos private collection. Our President, Lynn C. Thompson trained with it for several months, and resolved to create one for Cold Steel. Injection molded from virgin high strength polypropylene with a long handle and square tip, its enormously resistant to breaking and will never shrink, rot, crack or splinter like a wooden Suburito is prone to do. Its built to provide many years of hard service and, if used faithfully, it will surely make you a better swordsman. It has an elegant wood grain finish and bears the five major precepts of Japanese sword cutting, written in Kanji characters.

This is an ideal suburito in a post-covid world where hardwoods normally used for kendo supplies cannot meet demand. The low price compared to real wood makes this a perfect replacement.
This is basically what you want for an ultra great sword, all things considered. Iykyk
My absolute favorite training tool at the moment. I just wish they would make them in various sizes like they do the bats.
Good, solid product and quality control. As a Kendo and iaido practitioner, I've used this extensively prior to Waza-geiko and Kakari-geiko as part of a my warm up routine. It is a real help in adding weight and stamina training to your suburi. It's construction is a plus over traditional wood suburito, and can withstand abuse and neglect that may damage wood. Truly an underrated product.
Perfect weight for both strength & flexibility training. I have a lot of "hardware" from shoulder surgery and this helps keep me from turning to meds for pain.
The weight is certainly similar to an actual katana, so it makes a good trainer for a katana

All I can say is ….. “WOW!” Cold Steel hit this one out of the park. Better than wood..hefty…great finish with wood grain… and for the price … there aren’t many places where you can find a great Suburito made to withstand heavy use… I love it so much, I use it for walks at night. Don’t leave home without it!! Cold Steel’s Super Suburito!!!
