Description

An incredibly realistic airgun that's a great all-day plinker but also suitable for maintaining firearm proficiency. The slide moves, the gun feels and handles like the P226 firearm, and it functions smoothly and flawlessly. Of the air pistols that we've tested, the SIG Sauer P226 X-Five Open has proven to be one of the most accurate. Usually, BB guns aren't that accurate...but this one will surprise you!

SIG Sauer P226 X-Five Open pistol

  • CO2 (12-gram cartridge)
  • Semiauto
  • 18-rd BB magazine
  • Double-/single-action
  • Blowback
  • Fixed front sight
  • Fully adjustable rear sight
  • Metal construction
  • One of the most accurate BB guns we sell!
  • Includes X-mount Weaver rail, compensator and steel BBs

NOTE: The owner's manual states that this has BAX Hop-Up, but it does not.

Although this gun appears to have a half-cock safety, the pistol does not function like that and would need to be fully cocked and on safe to be carried at the ready. Carrying this pistol half-cocked with the safety on may cause accidental discharge and is not recommended.

Very realistic Good craftsman Handles well

The cap to lodge the CO2 cartridge is really difficult to screw The blowback mechanism "destroys" the red dot. Better used with iron sights ONLY

good for plinking in the backyard NOT for competition shooting

SIG Sauer, the new firearm for our armed forces. One of the leading manufacturers of the highest tech equipment on the planet. This gun shoots all day. It makes you feel like an action hero in a movie maybe Neo in the Matrix. Accurate Powerful Sights Safety Slide release Trigger Magazine Rail on dust cover Pseudo compensator on barrel Color STEEL..... This feels like you spent every penny as wisely as anyone could. This should last a lifetime and be handed down among family and friends Grip

Uhhhhh Nothing! It would be nice if it was cheaper but that would be like complaining you spent too much on a Porsche. If you can afford the car you dont complain. If you can 100 dollars on an airgun you wont do any better than this

Get one or two or three. I have given one to a close friend. I think whoever receives one as a gift will believe you are the real Santa Clause.

THE SIGHTS. The rear sight is totally adjustable and that's the main reason I bought this pistol. Also, just like on the real X-five open, there are no white dots on the sights. I appreciate that since I do more bulls eye shooting than action type shooting. THE TRIGGER. In single action the trigger is smooth and light. It's a good trigger to teach a new shooter with. ACCURACY. The accuracy is better than I expected. About 1 inch at 10 yards standing. FUNCTION. It's cool that the ammo is presented at the top of the magazine and the ammo is chambered when the slide cycles just like in a real gun. Disassembly is just like a real gun too.

The magazine is a huge pain to load. you can lock the follower down but it doesn't leave a space to load the BBs. You must hold the follower down beyond the locking point with one hand while loading with the other. Then, when you put the magazine into the pistol it doesn't "click" into place. I'm always afraid that its going to fall out. It never has but I wish that there was some tactile or audible signal telling me the magazine is secure. The build quality can be a little chintzy in places. For example, the slide lock lever is sharp and gouges the grip when it's used and the rear sight blade hangs crocked off the back of the sight. While I generally like the sights I do wish there was a little more air between the rear notch and the front post while aiming.

I wanted to get my shooting fix without spending $100 a month on ammo so, since BBs are basically free, I thought I'd get a BB gun. I watched lots of videos about different BB guns but most don't shoot straight. It seems that if I buy a gun that shoots 4 inches to the right and 3 inches high and there is no way to correct that it's a defective product! So when I found this gun with its adjustable rear sight I gave a sigh of relief. Metal construction, adjustable sights and it's a SIG. (although I'm sure SIG Sauer had nothing to do with this pistol.) It's loads of fun to shoot and I can shoot for hours without feeling like I'm throwing a handful of change down range with every shot. My teenage son loves shooting it and it really is a great pistol for new shooters to learn with. It can be a little rough around the edges but it's got it where it counts. In the shooting! It's fun and it's accurate enough for me to show off to my kids and accurate enough for the kids to develop good skills.

UPDATE #2 With only four days remaining on the factory warranty a Pyramyd Air customer service rep tells me to send my broken pistol to Sig Sauer to be repaired. A couple weeks later Sig returns my pistol and IT'S STILL BROKEN! I call Sig and they tell me they can't fix the gun because IT IS NOT A SIG SAUER PRODUCT. It's made by Cyber Gun who pays Sig for the privilege of making a gun that looks like a Sig. Unfortunately between the time I mailed my gun off and the time I got it back the warranty expired! Now I have a broken gun without a warranty. When I explained the situation to Pyramyd Air they immediately offer to send me a brand new gun. That's what you call good customer service! They had the wrong info in their system directing people to Sig Sauer for warranty work. So since they gave me wrong instructions they covered the replacement. But I was afraid my replacement X-five Open would have the same problem so I paid the difference and got a Sig Sauer ASP C02 pellet pistol.

UPDATE 10-22-18 THE GUN IS DEAD! In under 2 months and about 500 shots my slide broke! I called Pyramyd Air but it was past 30 days so I had to deal with the manufacturer. I was surprised when the Pyramyd Air customer service rep told me to call Sig Sauer even though the gun was made by Cybergun. I called Sig, they emailed me a return label and the pistol was on its way to Sig within an hour. It's a real shame that shoddy build quality, low quality materials or maybe just a manufacturing flaw ruin what, if made with a little more care, would be a fantastic product. I now have to advise against buying this pistol. Several other reviewers had the same problem as I did but I didn't think it would happen to me. Fortunately it was still within the manufactures warranty period. But with only FOUR DAYS left. Close call. Don't risk it. You have been warned.

Excellent feel and weight. Field strips like the real steel. Everything you'd want in a blow back bb pistol. Yeah, it uses a lot of CO2, but you wouldn't buy a Ferrari and complain about gas mileage, right? Pretty accurate after a tweak here and there, can plink cans up to 40yds with a steady hand. With the new price change to this open version, why not? I don't use a red dot, so I never use the rail, but when mounted, it makes a very solid add on sight mount. I've already purchased a 2nd, as I have 2 boys, and they both love this pistol. Buy a 2nd mag and yes, the standard X Five mags work just fine within the extended mag well of the open version, just need to make sure it's fully seated.

Safety ONLY works when fully decocked! Pistol will fire with safety on and cocked/chambered. In fact, my son shot an entire mag in SA with safety on. Make the guide rod spring shorter to prevent slide breakage(see below for fix)

My first time with this pistol, it blew the nose off the slide within 10 mags. Problem solved with a small mod. If you field strip it down, take the heavy spring off the guide rod and with a dremel, cut 3 coils off the fully compressed side of the spring. When the slide blows back, both springs on the guide rod won't fully compress, creating a "spring stop" on the lower part of the slide that will eventually break it off. Also, while you have the guide rod stripped, take a file to the flash that is still there from the casting process and make sure the rod is smooth and the springs rotate freely and smoothly. Definitely do the electrical tape wrap around the inner barrel, build it up right behind the factory o-ring until the inner barrel slides freely, but doesn't wobble inside the outer barrel. I also removed the compensator and extension and hit the tip with a shot of flat black. Basically a standard X Five with extended mag well and adjustable sights.

GMS Oct 24, 2018

"Safety ONLY works when fully decocked! ..." Obviously that is a malfunction. Haven't noticed many others reporting this phenomenon. The safety on mine works properly--for the most part--i.e. it disconnects the trigger from hammer whether it is cocked or not. Of course, I wish it was more realistic in blocking the trigger from moving instead, but the OEM (KWC) often implements these little quirks in their designs, which is why I for one have never been overly fond of their products. But hey, they're still WAY better than the likes of WE Tech, KJW, and of course there are even worst. When enabled, the safety also lifts/pushes up a pin to block the slide from being racked. M-1911's/2011's safeties have a similar function, only they directly shift into an angled cutout. However, the pin on mine does not lift all the way up, so sometimes the slide can still be racked. Also, the right lever of the safety moves more than the left, meaning they're not completely in sync.

Eric, yes you are correct and after blowing the nose off for the 3rd time, I realised where the impact now stresses the slide with too much force. I really do feel that your advice is a great solution as cushioning the abrupt stop of the slide is what's needed to keep the nose from breaking. On a hunch that the open version had "a bad batch" of slides during the manufacturing process, I purchased the all silver version of the X-Five and without any mods, I've got nearly 70 mags through it with the stock spring setup using my 3rd failed X-Five's inner and outer barrel. I really believe that crate of X-Five opens sitting in Pennsylvania or Ohio (wherever they are shipping from) are defective...I use the slide on my X-Five open, kinda cool with the dual tone, retaining the adjustable rear sights...https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kOxnT7589Ax413g8z1nNPCFkzlgLg9oq/view?usp=drivesdk Also, those are the plastic faux grips painted with 6 light coats of black Flexi Seal, grip feels fantastic.

Eric Aug 27, 2018

I followed your idea and cut off 3 coils off the heavy spring. When I reassembled and racked the slide I noticed that the nose of the slide would now "bottom out" on the inside of the frame very easily. After firing 2 mags I inspected the inside of the nose of the slide and found strong impact marks on the inside of the nose. This is not good and may be what is causing the nose of the slides to break off. I then put the 3 coils back on and it still would "bottom out" although not so hardly. On Youtube I noticed the (non open) version of this gun had a different second spring. It was longer and did not have the compressed side. This design makes more sense as it allows the slide to engage the stronger spring sooner which slows the slide down a bit sooner and firmer and prevents it from "bottoming out". Went to hardware store and found a long non compressed spring. Cut 3/4" longer than stock spring. Slide now does not "spring stop" or "bottom out" and is consistently smoother.

Approx 1,000 B.B.s shot without problems. Very accurate, pop cans shredded at 50 to 75 feet with open sights.I Shot indoor competitive for years. This gun feels like the real McCoy.

BB a are a little challenging to load into the clip but with a little practice it can be accomplished fairly easily.

For the price it is one great piece. The heft, function, feel and accuracy are all 10s. Buy one and enjoy.

This gun came today and i shot 2 full magazines thru it. It functioned so amazing. The loudness wasnt that loud. It was much quieter than my S&W model 327 trr8. I just love the fact that i got a compensator & a rail & a tactical magazine for $80. The original one without the feature was $100 so this was a super good deal for me. I basically got this gun itself only for about $68. The magazine and the slide felt like the real gun and I really love it. the slide catch works like the real gun and everything else except for the decocker but it is possible to decock this gun by decocking like the revolver. No malfunctions yet. Also the CO2 in the magazine does not leak at all!!! I shot this gun with the laser sight and aiming with the laser sight is as accurate as aiming with the factory sight. Very very accurate gun. And it feels like a 22lr gun with the blowback.

maybe the decocker should be added if possible. And white dot on front sight (I can definitely do that but it will be nice if it came with the gun).

as long as you dont put your co2 in your gun for too long, your co2 will not leak. I recommend less than 1 hour even thou the manufacturer says 24 hours.
Also, do not field strip this gun if you are not familiar with firearms.

And always wear safety glasses!!!

Update: slide broke

GMS May 19, 2018

Why is it that nobody seems to understand that this is NOT a standard P226??!! The X-Series is essentially a custom/premium level, much like Mercedes-Benz AMG or BMW M-series. Most of the X-Fives do NOT have decockers, and certainly not the X-Five Open; only the All Round does. So if the real one doesn't have a decocker, why would this one?? Airgun and AirSoft manufacturers are trying to mimic realism to the best of their ability, and apart from this being blued (instead of nickel-plated/stainless, not futuristic-edged, and lacking an extended high-cap. mag., it's currently as close to real as it gets. To my knowledge even AirSoft doesn't have an exact replica of the X-Series, and they have just about everything!

So real, I just treat it lake a smaller caliber in my modest arsenal of handguns.

Maybe a stronger finish on the slide. It scratches easily, but only as easily as the finish on name brand handguns. (I don't know what's on this one, but Nitron sucks.)

Be careful. It's a real firearm and there are consequences for unsafe handling.

The overall feel of it I'm very happy with my Sig Sauer p226 x5 open it is my new favorite in my collection I will be buying more in the future thanks I would recommend this product to any one it is a great piece

2 mags it should come with 2 mags that's it

GMS Apr 15, 2018

"2 mags it should come with 2 mags that's it" No, at this price range, 1 mag. is absolutely reasonable. Have you even delved into the world of AirSoft?? Starting at double the price of any half-decent GBB airgun, THOSE should really incl. 2 mag's, like most firearms. Keep in mind both manufacturers and retailers don't make much money off the guns themselves, whereas accessories is where the real profit comes in.

Very hefty, feels like the real deal. Blowback is fantastic and gives that realistic touch. I have the gamo PR776 pellet gun, which is also awesome, this smooth bore bb gun shoots almost as good...which is amazing. I also have the Swiss Arms 1911, which is nice, BUT this is better.

Nothing...fantastic gun.

You can remove the muzzle break and have the look of the stock p226 but with adjustable rear sights. Oh the screw in piece the muzzle break attaches to is removable as well.

GMS Apr 15, 2018

"the look of the stock p226" Not quite accurate. An X-Five P226 differs from a standard P226 in numerous ways. Firstly it is based off of a 5" barrel as opposed to 4.4". Std. P226's don't have ambi. frame-safeties, and instead has a decocker just in front of left grip. Special models of P226's have beavertail, whereas most do not. {Aside from most (?) X-Fives,} Only the P226 Tac. Ops model has oversized beveled mag. well and extended mag's. Therefore, not only must you remove the compensator, but the mag. well must also be removed and you have to change to flush base mag's to be closer to a "stock P226", albeit with the other differences remaining. That is what I did for my 2nd one, making it holster-friendly.

Weight of gun , materials used in workmanship, very well made ,Adjustable sights if you want them that really work . This is by far the most accurate B.B. pistol I have to date when using the best B.B. out of 6 different brands tried at 15 yards off a bench.I liked this gun so much I bought another one using open sights only. Cannot go wrong on this purchase.

Not one thing

Lubing the slides makes a big difference on these blowback B.B. pistols ,I use Slide-Glide Standard on all my blowback guns using a Qtip as applicator.
