Tekto A5 Spry OTF Automatic Reviews

I am very impressed by the A5 Spry. The quality of the build is incredible and the mechanism is very responsive. I will go back and get the mini version too.

I received the Spry mini about 3 weeks ago for free in return for doing a quick review of my initial thoughts. I own a regular size spry, and this was a great addition. The mini is identical to the larger version and functions exactly the same. The only difference that I noticed between the two is that the mini comes with a much better glass breaker, it's easier to screw and unscrew, and it features a tungsten steel ball which should make it easier to break glass in case of an emergency. Its much easier to carry than the larger spry as it weight next to nothing and you dont even feel that its in your pocket. This knife has become my edc and is fun to fidget with. I haven't used it long enough to tell you about the edge retention, but I have used it daily and have not had to sharpen it yet. Overall, a great knife, I just wish they sent me a green one to match my existing larger spry.

I moved up from the Badger for the longer handle that the A5 Spry provides. I found it easier to grip while I deploy the blade. I found the switch to be a little stiff, but I expect it to loosen with use. Blade deployment is fast and secure. I chose the tanto blade. I carry it in my right pocket a draw it out with my thumb and index finger. I find that my thumb slides on the smooth part of the grip. I would like to see the striations continue down the entire handle to improve comfort. The clip did loosen on me, but that was easy to tighten back down.

The Ergonomics of the A5 are on spot. The actuation button is located in a natural position and is easy to reach without being in the way while using the knife. The width and length provides plenty of leverage to make any cut effortless and still be able to make fine precision cuts. My version has an aggressive Tanto profile that provides a very robust point and penetration is very good for this type of tip design.



The materials are of the highest quality available and are utilized in a well thought-out design that provides a very positive actuation in opening and closing response. The Black treatment of the blade is even and smooth giving a great contrasting surface that makes the perfectly hardened and ground edge stand out. It looks great.



The fit and finish is on par and can be compared to any automatic knife on the market in its price range and is better than others in my collection that were even more expensive. Like any fine tool, you get what you pay for in most cases, in this case I wont hesitate to rely on this fine example in any situation. Wither working in the field or relying on for self defense, I feel confidant that Tekto has provided me with one of the best automatics I known.

It is a nice knife, however I found the button to open the knife somewhat difficult to push.

I love how the A5 Spry operates smoothly and consistently with every open and close. Very lightweight and sharp, worth every penny.

Very crisp action ,minimal movement when blade is out and it just feels nice in your hand very happy with it. Customer service went above and beyond to help me with a problem that resulted from shipping issues will definitely buy from Tekto again. Thanks guys

Really like it. Had a couple QC issues with pocket clip and trigger which almost made it a 4 star rating, but customer service was very responsive.
