I chose the 1866 Junior kit for my grandson's Christmas present for several reasons and it hit the mark on all of them. It is much lighter and shorter than other air rifles. It also comes with a pair of safety glasses that fit him very well, as well as 1,000 BB's and 5 targets. The longer pump lever makes it very easy for him to pump the rifle without assistance and the automatic safety prevents accidental misfires. We had a great time plinking cans and he already seems to be a natural. The only thing my grandson didn't like compared to our other air rifle was that both the front and rear sights are black, I might put some paint on the front sight to provide some contrast. Overall great value for a starter air rifle kit that gives you the option to use either BB's or Pellets.

Has a surprising distance it can shoot which is really nice. Reloading is simple and easy. It seems very durable, however it is made out of all plastic which surprised me. I was hoping for wood.The safety is neat, it is the hammer, So you cock it just like a real lever action. Overall for the price it is an exceptional deal

This is the best BB gun for a first time user. I love how it goes back to safety after being fired.

Got this for my son for Christmas. Shoots well and great quality. He had a little trouble at first figuring out the pumping / cocking. You have to cock before pumping otherwise the air will leak out. Once he figured that out he's been outside every day shooting targets!

My son loved this gun and it's very safe and easy to use. I also love that it comes with everything you need to get started at a very reasonable price and of course the golden accent is awesome. Perfect Christmas gift.

I bought the 1866 Jr to go along with my larger 1866. The idea is to shoot with my grandchildren. I like everything about the smaller carbine. Quality is good and the bolt and safety is easy for smaller hands. The cocking handle feels a bit on the light flexible side but should be up to the job. The styling makes both guns a pleasure to shoot I am very pleased with my purchase

This is a great product for young kids to practice on. Both my son and daughter love it.

My son has not been able to put down the Barra 1886 junior since he received it on Christmas morning. Lots of A Christmas Story jokes made, but is having fun with it and is a great way to introduce him to gun safety. Thanks for a awesome product!

This was a Christmas gift for my son. As it is his first air gun, he is naturally very excited. The weight feels good in the hand and it is nicely balanced. The cocking mechanism feels a little bit cheaply made, but so far has held up okay. Everything else is great.

My son loves how the 1866 airgun looks. He was only upset that his brothers airgun could go through the target but his didn't. Besides that he likes it!
