I like the use of wood and metal rather than the lower quality plastic seen on so many pellet pistols.
Things I would have changed:The sights leave much to be desired. The front sight is far too thin and the windage adjustment on the rear sight allows for too little compensation.
What others should know:Out of the box, and with no crosswind, the pistol shot about 4 inches high and 2 inches to the right at 40 feet when using sandbags for stabilization. The windage adjustment would not allow complete correction and required that I physically bend the rear sight slightly to center the pellet strike on target.
The trigger pull is long and gritty resulting in unpredicatable timing of pellet firing. I have modified the "sear" by grinding off a sufficient amount that the trigger pull distance to release is now acceptably shorter. I have also polished the sear where it contacts the trigger mechanism and the firing mechanism. Other parts contacted by the sear were also polished to remove some of the machining roughness. The trigger pull is now shorter and smoother allowing improved accuracy.

The HB22 is a handsom gun as pictured.
Things I would have changed:The front sight should be thicker and the rear sight needs to be redesigned. The grip should be wider. The trigger should be "tightened up;" there is too much play in it.
What others should know:The gun I received had the following problems: 1.) The gun I got was not the same as the one pictured. It seems that the front plug for the barrel is in short supply, so Crosman used a plug from the Sheridan/Benjamin air rifle with the result that the barrel overhangs the pressure tube. 2.) The serial number is hard to read because it has a "dot-matirx" look. In addition, paint is missing from the pressure tube where the serial number appears. 3.) When I pump the front lever, the forward-most pin in the wooden handle drifts out toward the right side of the gun; the pin is a poor fit. 4.) The trigger is looser than it needs to be (side-to-side play). 5.) The gun may be accurate, but due to the poor sights and the narrow grip I have trouble shooting it accurately.

Solid construction, real wood grips and forestock. Good overall fit and finish. Variable power, and nice and quiet. I took this to a campground over the last weekend, and shot shatterblasts at the campsite and it didn't disturb anyone. This is a reliable gun, and it shoots fairly accurately. Grouping is good, but not great, but plenty accurate enough to shoot small diameter targets at 10-15 m.
Things I would have changed:Sights are useless. The rear sight is probably the worst I have ever seen. The windage adjustment is nearly impossible to set correctly. I gave up.
What others should know:The rear sight is so poor, that I would advise anyone interested in this gun to just factor in a B272 Intermount and go with a new sight of your choice.

Solid. I agree with most other reviews concerning USA workmanship. Solid metals and hardwoods are indeed very appealing. Good weight offers good balance in hand.
Things I would have changed:Sights. Rear sight windage adjustments don't offer much room for correction. Rear notch too wide. Total accuracy still requires a little "Kentucky windage" on the shooter's part. The top of the elevation screw can be slightly seen in the sight picture due to adjustment screw length on mine.
What others should know:I improved my overall sight picture by gently removing the paint on the very tip of the front sight with a fingernail file. The brass underneath shines enough to offer a black/gold combo that is much easier to see. Beeman silver bear pellets need a little coaxing to load into the breach, but seem to shoot fairly uniform. I'll probably switch to a pointed pellet in the future. Overall, very pleased with product. I'm also glad I ordered the B272 intermount along with the pistol. I believe a small red dot would make the pistol perfect.

Powerful. Accurate. Durable. Serviceable. Scopeable. You can charge these up and wait all day to take the shot.
Things I would have changed:Triggers are a little rough but smooth up with use.
What others should know:These can be serviced by the owner without special tools. Crosman/Benjamin are happy to sell parts. Due to the ease of service and availability of replacement parts, I don't hesitate to work mine hard! The accuracy of my .22 is not as great as my .177 but I haven't tried every pellet available nowadays. You can buy a lot of pellets with the $ you will save over guns that will not deliver the Service and/or Satisfaction one of these will!

Just about everything. Good looking, functional, included trigger safety, Pump action ease and layout, safety button layout. Great .22 air gun! I look forward to starting a tradition of handing it down. Fairly quiet
Things I would have changed:Nicer wood as an option (I have some leftover .45 handles, gonna try and modify it), cocking action of the bolt should and could be a bit more "engaging", Day glow or fiber-optic type of fixed sites. Add a mount for Weaver or Dovetail in the box. Have an option to quiet it down a bit.
What others should know:This is an amazing little gun! It pumps with ease, has an okay trigger (which can probably be "tuned" a bit with the right sandpaper), shoots nice out of the box, add a red dot optical then its perfect. If the sites had some fiber optic or glow function I would give the accuracy a 5.

Accurate, fairly quiet, great for indoors.
Things I would have changed:Trigger and sights are a little narrow.
What others should know:Almost as quiet as my Avant 747! Just a little louder so it is great for indoors!

Hey - you pay the big bucks and then you don't have to buy CO2. My grandfather has a Benjamin Sheridan .17 rifle and I love it. I hope for the same good relationship with this pistol. I shot it a few times today and found it to hit where I pointed. I am curious what effect altitude has (I live at 8400 feet) because the air density here is much lower than at sea level, could I pump it more than 8 times?
Things I would have changed:It seems that since Crosman has taken over, attention to detail has gone downhill. It came with the grips loose and a couple of the roll pins weren't centered (sticking out on one side.) The serial number is just dot matrix printed with a punch in the side of the gun and I don't see Benjamin Sheridan's name anywhere. But there is a long warning statement and Crosman's name on it.
What others should know:I've just shot it about 20 times as I just got it today, but so far so good as far as accuracy and power go.
I bought this instead of the Crosman (about $50) with plastic stock and grips, but I wanted the .22 :)

Robust, not all plastic and cheaply made. Hs the feel of a real arm in your hand and is very dependable for a survival/pest hunting pistol. The 22 packs a nice wallop and the report is not as loud as some c02 guns. No messy co2 to carry. as long as you have pellts, you can hunt or plink
Things I would have changed:The mounting system for a scope is clunky compared to a dovetail mount. more muzzle energy would be better for hunting.
What others should know:The pistol could be massaged to a higher velocity and some on the internet provide a tune up service for better velocity. This is well made and will last a lifetime with good care. Not fall aprt like so many plastic cheap made models. it's all wood and metal. very heavy duty.

Just a brief background I have been shooting rifle and archery for 10 years now. the quality of this gun is excellent. I was most impressed of the accuracy of this gun, at 25 yards this gun is right on. I can hit a pop can at 25 yards about 4/5 times. This caliber is great with this gun, it really lobs a heavy bullet downrange very nice and accurately. The most accurate round I found was a Diabolo Exact round nose.
Things I would have changed:The trigger is long and pretty heavy, and has unexpected "looseness" in mid pull. The iron sights are pretty bulky and are not designed for precision. The wood handle panels are a bit loose and there is nothing you can do about them.
What others should know:Many say this gun is hard to pump. This is expected when you use such a short lever on a handgun. On a difficulty scale this gun is a 5/10.
