This is an excellent pistol. It has become my favorite bb pistol. That includes blowback, non-blowback or any other bb shooter. It feels great in the hand, works superbly and is very accurate. If you take time to aim this it's fantastic for a smoothy bore bb gun. At 10 to 15 feet it will place almost every shot right in the "10 ring" with only the occasional flyer.
Things I would have changed:Very little. I love this gun.
What others should know:I think you'll be glad you bought this.

Gun blows co2 into your face. Very low power. Functions good.
Things I would have changed:Less blowback, more poems to BBC.
What others should know:Functions great, really low velocity.

The look and feel of the pistol is great. The blowback is great, the nickel-plated barrel is a nice visual touch and the trigger is smooth. The accuracy is pretty good.
Things I would have changed:I don't know if I am the only one who noticed this, but when the hammer is at rest (like in the pictures), the manual safety does not engage. It only engages when the hammer is cocked, which I think is a little dangerous. My cousin got this same pistol shortly after me, and has the same problem. For the amount you pay, I think that all the basic aspects of the pistol, like an engaging manual safety when the hammer is at rest, should work.
What others should know:Only that the manual safety doesn't engage when the hammer is at rest.

Like the other opinions have said, this is one fun pistol to shoot. For a bb pistol, it's surprisingly accurate for close targets. I don't find the bb's are that hard to load into the mag, either. I wanted something to scatter squirrels & birds from my vegetable gardens, and this is perfect. It doesn't kill, but bb's flying around spooks them good! Heed the warnings about bb's ricocheting off hard surfaces, tho. If you're used to lead pellets (like me), these are totally different.
Things I would have changed:Nothing. For the $100 I paid, the "clam shell" packaging doesn't bother me.
What others should know:Note 2 comments neighbors made to me: 1) Is that a .45? (caliber), and 2) How did you quiet your firearm? The message here is this is a VERY realistic 1911 model weapon. Use abundant caution when displaying and/or shooting. (Think Cleveland P.D.)

Received my Commander yesterday, after field stripping, cleaning (not overly dirty), oiling & reassembling, I fired 9 magazines (2 CO2 carts) through it. Blow back & slide lock were impressive, accuracy was so-so until the 6th magazine when it showed a noticeable improvement so I guess even a smooth bore barrel requires a little break in period. Fired the 9th magazine as fast as I could pull the trigger at a captive soda can 20 feet down range and cored out a hole the size of a golf ball in the center of the can - very cool! Fit and finish on the pistol are excellent and it functions exactly as advertised, I'm very pleased with this purchase - it's definitely a keeper.
Things I would have changed:Should include a 2nd magazine and/or reduce the price for spares - these items are mass produced and shouldn't be as costly as they are - this is particularly hurtful when you have to pay ~ $25.00 just for shipping & handling plus brokerage fees ($15.00), Canada sales tax ($15.00) and Customs duties ($3.50), not to mention the US/Canada currency exchange rate ($158.37 USD = $204.34 CAD). Fortunately I believe I can acquire a couple of spare mags on this side of the border for somewhat less than it would cost to have them shipped from the US.
What others should know:P/A customer service was very easy to deal with, even at long distance.

Very close to the real deal. Weight, manipulation, and accuracy are spot on. Great for practice at home and saves me some trips to the range. Blow back and slide lock are unexpectedly realistic. Other than reduced recoil, this is perfect for practice. Price to me was reasonable considering value received. 5 stars all round.

The Colt Commander really surprised me with authenticity, looks and feel. I have a real Rock Island 1911 compact with a Blackhawk holster. Amazingly this air gun fits that holster perfectly and locks in.
Things I would have changed:I wouldn't change a thing.
What others should know:I'm just getting started in the air gun scene for inexpensive target shooting.

Feel and balance. White dot sights. Fairly accurate. Great can roller but not a precision shooter. Just plain old fun to shoot.
Things I would have changed:This is not a Commander size 1911. It is the full size. Don't know why they had to call it a Commander. Not complaining, just saying. Still love it.
What others should know:I liked it so well I bought another. Colt medallion rubber wrap around grips on one and a beautiful set of checkered Colt medallion wood grips on the other. Buy one. You will like it.

Easy to use and fix, good accuracy inside 30yrds , all metal, easy to add accessories of all kinds , realistic replica of the real thing, nice strong recoil, beautiful design. Field strippable.
Things I would have changed:Add a rail system, less white print on slide, better slide spring for increased FPS. Better grips.
What others should know:This is the best 1911 out there, I have em all. So far this pistol has never failed me, do not cock more than once as you will jam the barrel, single action is always better than double. Do not try 19 BBs in the clip, it will jam. Use 17 BBs at most per clip. Expect about two good mags per co2 as the slide is strong requires much co2 to deliver its great recoil. Use pell gun oil , Daisy or Umarex Co2s and zinc BBs for best consistent results , and airsoft compensators not real ones as they don't fit the barrel and increase well get on the slide which reduces FPS. Recover tactical grips will give a rail system that attractive and solid, by a quality light or laser. Mine chrono'd max at 321 fps in 72 degrees for the first 5-10 shots . Well worth the money , get several extra mags and cycle through them. These are great for training and target, DO NOT SHOOT ANIMALS with these you will only wound them and that's immoral.

I love it very nice so far no leaks I used high grade co2 shoots accurate grouping about 4 rounds in 8 ft this 1911 bb collection of mine is the no. 1 gun I purchased, shoots accurate and the price is right....
Things I would have changed:I replaced the grip with pachmayre wrap around I take out from my old 1911 it looks like a real colt 1911...
What others should know:Before I use the gun I dissasebled the slide clean inside and lubricate the components just like a real gun ...

Blow back, feel and operation being so close to the real center fire 1911's. easy to mod and that with no to some fitting a lot of the real guns parts will fit such as Grips, slid stop mag release ect.
Things I would have changed:How much CO to this eats! Make the trigger work the very same as the real gun instead of a tiny spring to force it back to the ready.
What others should know:Great gun and not a bad shooter at all fact the gun is able to do better then I am!! LOL. This thing is as or almost as much fun as shooting a powder burner but with out the cost. if ya like to tinker this is a good one to play with but be warned doing so kills the warranty!!!! The grips and many other parts are replaceable with the real items just if ya do the grips you need to open them up on the lower 1/3 inside so the CO2 12 gm cylinder will still fit! get this and suprise your self as you will find your shooting it way more then you believed you would be . I know i am now addicted to it LOL

Every single thing. It's crazy accurate, easy to shoot, feels superb in the hands. MY FAVORITE PISTOL - hands down.
Things I would have changed:NOTHING!
What others should know:Hogue makes aftermarket rubber grips with finger grooves that fit with just a little wiggling. I would invest in those just for the sake of badassery but by itself this gun is all you need. I have a slew of other pistols in my collection but I keep coming back to this one time and again. YOU WILL TOO!

Everything...this has same feel and controls as real 1911 and is excellent to train for use of the real 1911. Top quality materials and perfect in every way! Well worth the price! Quick to load if you hold magazine follower/spring all the way down and pour bbs into space above the follower and then release it. I was able to fit real wood colt 1911 grips with just a little sanding (used a dremel tool) on the back center bottom portion, where the frame is raised up a bit around the bottom hole. If you hollow out that area on the back of the real wood 1911 grips they will fit fine and add a really nice look to this well made gun. .
Things I would have changed:Not a thing other than the cheap plastic clam shell packaging which is beneath the high quality of this gun. It deserves a nice box or padded case.

Everything!
Things I would have changed:Nothing at all! However, I think a nickle plated or a tactical version would be incredible - just a thought...
What others should know:LOVE this gun! This is by far the favorite of my collection. Incidentally I also have the Tangfolio. I went back and forth over which to get and eventually got both. The colt is better. The tang has fixed rear sights where the Colt has adjustable rear sights and that makes such a difference. I also purchased some aftermarket Hogue rubber grips - WOW! I can't express how much fun this thing is to shoot. If you have to buy only one gun, make this it!

The Colt out of the box shot really great. It had plenty of power for a BB pistol and with the blow back if felt like a real firearm. The sights were excellent with the white dots on both front and rear sights. Made it easy to sight in your target.
Things I would have changed:Not much but would like to see the reliability improved. CO2 blowout is a problem. This is not the only gun that did this for me. It seems like any gun the uses a magazine with both CO2 and BB's did this. It's as if the sealing is a problem even after using oil on the seat of the CO2.
What others should know:The gun after about 4 CO2 cartridges started to make a poofing sound and the gas started to escape. I thought it was my mistake by not tightening the cartridge enough so I loaded another. It shot about 4 shots fine and then fizzled out the CO2. It did this for 4 CO2 cartridges, I used Umarex and Crosman cartridges with the same results.

nice weight, accurate out to 30 ft, good sights, blowback action is cool.
Things I would have changed:Mag is very hard to load. Expensive for a one week gun.
What others should know:Mine only lasted a week. The mag began leaking badly and I was told by umerex not to use crossman co2 cartridges, even though Pyramyd bundled them with the pistol. I don't know if the umarex cartridges will work now, or if the gun is damaged. I'm waiting for delivery of the new cartridges to find out. Really steams my clams! I'm pretty pissed at Pyramyd at this point. Unless they make good on this, I will not be buying from them in the future.

Things I would have changed:I don't know where to start. Really not to Umarex standards.

Fun to shoot. Realistic. Blowback works great.
Things I would have changed:Fix the safety issue
What others should know:Mine has a major safety issue. I was doing a safety check. Pistol was unloaded and I was observing all firearm (airgun) safety rules. I placed pistol in cocked and locked position. I pulled trigger and nothing happened. OK, so far. I placed my trigger finger in safe position (high on slide) and I disengaged the slide safety with my thumb. When I disengaged the safety the pistol fired. I am able to replicate this consistently but sometimes I may have to pull the trigger a couple of times while it is on safe. I use a normal trigger pull but I noticed if I wiggle the trigger a little while I pull it then I can feel it give a little. This type of issue is why you should always follow safety rules! You may want to check your pistol to see if it has the same defect.

This is an AWESOME air pistol. If you like the 1911 pistol (the real McCoy) you will be very pleased with this. I like the Colt/Umarex airguns to begin with (I purchased their Single Action Army recently as well and love it). This airgun feels right, has heft, and the reciprocating slide makes it a great all-around trainer. My son thought it was a suppressed .22 at first!
Things I would have changed:I haven't run into anything yet I'd change on it. Maybe make the magazine a bit easier to load, as long as changing it did not impact the rest of the gun and how it functions. I am going to try to add some 1911 custom grips to it. With so many on the market, Colt/Umarex need to make sure this customization is as easy as possible. That would increase sales for sure.
What others should know:For under a c-note, there is no reason why any airgunner should be without this in their arsenal. This gun looks great, feels great, and shoots great!!!

The controls and functions exactly match those on my .45, making this an excellent training choice for new shooters. Allows my grandson to become a reasonably proficient shooter before adding the recoil of a genuine 1911! Very reasonably priced for what you get. Surprisingly good trigger!
Things I would have changed:Should include a spare magazine for training sessions.
What others should know:Perfect for indoor practice in the winter at a very low cost.
