    Things I liked:

    Quiet power, decent scope

    Things I would have changed:

One piece mount would be better re scope.

    What others should know:

Can go supersonic. First shot was a 10.5 grain pellet, but sounded like I shot a deer rifle. Mine likes 11.5g or more.

    Things I liked:

.22 cal version Powerful Accurate Wood stock Stays zeroed Good value No more squirrels running track meets on my roof and leaving chestnuts in the gutters.

    Things I would have changed:

Trigger pull was too heavy to maintain consistent accuracy from free standing position. Muzzlebrake serves no purpose. It gives an otherwise serious looking gun a toyish look. It doesn't make it quieter. It doesn't add enough weight to act improve balance. The scope is usable but won't focus clearly at max zoom. It should be sold with difference scope options. Needs sling mount.

    What others should know:

I swapped out trigger for GRT III. It made a big improvement in free standing accuracy.

I removed the muzzlebrake using a heat gun. It slid right off after about 20 mins of heating. It didn't affect bluing. It left some residue on the barrel that came off with citristrip.

LOP is 14", about an inch less than I like. Problem was easily solved with a Pachmayr Slip On Recoil Pad (Large). It slips over the rubber buttplate.

The stock is carved to fit the buttplate. If you need to significantly change LOP it will involve a lot of work/expense.

Although not ideal the Gamo Gun Buddy Sling looks like it will work well with this rifle.

Very accurate with JSB Match Diabolo Exact Jumbo Heavy.

    Things I liked:

Solid, accurate, not too loud given its power (I have the .177 version).

    Things I would have changed:

There are two big issues with this rifle. The first is quality control; the second is its trigger. My first Nitro Venom ended up going back to Crosman. Don't know what the problem was, but it never grouped consistently. No matter what I tried, it would scatter pellets all over the place. It took a couple of weeks to get a replacement, and the new rifle is everything the first one wasn't. Now that I'm sure of its accuracy, I'll go ahead and install the GRT-III replacement trigger that I had installed in the first rifle, thinking that maybe the accuracy problem was a trigger control issue (it wasn't, which I should have known: I've always been able to shoot well even with crappy triggers). The GRT-III is such an improvement, I can't see why Crosman can't adopt it as original equipment. I also wish the stock screws had hex socket heads, since the Phillips heads make it difficult to apply sufficient torque without the driver camming out of the recess.

    What others should know:

Felt recoil isn't bad, but this is a rifle prone to shoot screws loose. The stock screws are Loctited down pretty well from the factory, but be sure to use thread locker on the scope mounts.

Solid feel. Relatively easy to cock. Nice stock. Consistently accurate and quieter than expected. Centre-Point 3x9 scope is a major plus. And of course I LOVE the Nitro!

    Things I would have changed:

After the break in I put in a CharlieDaTuna trigger and now she's a button buster. Thanks Pyramid for a Great gun at a Great price and thank you too Charlie!

    Things I liked:

This review is not a long term assessment of the Crosman Nitro Venom as I have had it for less than two weeks. However, I have shot a good quantity of pellets through it and can give a reasonable judgment of it. First the things I like. The rifle is well made and the stock is really nice. I find the balance of the gun is very good and the nitro chamber gives a very smooth cocking and accurate firing. I love the mounting for the scope.Accuracy at 20yds is excellent and it seems to like most good quality pellets with a preference for Crosman Premier 14.3g Ultra Magnum. The scope is on the wrong class of rifle, it should be for the BB class.

    Things I would have changed:

There are a couple of things that I am not happy with and these are: (1) The breach lock does not always take place when closing the rifle, it will get as far as the plunger and then fail to push it back in, if you close the barrel again it seems to overcome the resistance and closes OK. This has happened to me on a number of times and I have oiled the plunger but it has not made any difference. All of my other rifles have a large ball bearing type plunger and they have a very reassuring sound and positive feeling when closing. This rifle does not do either. I note that the plunger is not a ball bearing type but a spring loaded metal catch. I would return it for this problem but do not want to lose all the work that I have put into getting the rifle to this stage of perfection. (2) This rifle does not have a automatic safety which in my view is a big NONO.(3) Just put metal sights on the rifle and forget the scope. If your sales are mostly with kids by all means sell them a package with a low cost scope, but the type of gun you are selling is to a more mature and knowledgeable group, so please leave it to us to choose the scope and put the savings into metal sights and or safety lock or trigger

    What others should know:

Finaly, please clean the barrel a number of times with a good cleaner, forget the felt pellets and work the barrel with a rod. You will love this rifle, it's a keeper.

    Things I liked:

A very sound, powerfull rifle that feels well balanced for the price(i got the 22). I've had mine for about 6 mon. (about 800 shots)and really enjoy taking it out to the farm. It does hit hard without being too cumbersome. I feel it is a good value and have not had a problem yet.

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger is ok, but could use a little work. The stock could be better, but again, is good as is.

    What others should know:

It took a few sessions to get it broken in. The cocking gets smoother with the break-in, as does the accuracy.

    Things I liked:

The Rifle itself is very nice Good weight, accurate and quiet for its power

    Things I would have changed:

The Checkering could be a bit deeper And loose the CenterPoint Optics scope

    What others should know:

I sold a Remington Summit to fund this buy
I like the Venom Rifle (itself) much better than the Summit Rifle, but I truly hate the CenterPoint Optics Scope that comes with it
I traded the CenterPoint Optics 3-9X32 Scope out for my Crosman 3-9X40 from the Summit
The CPO Scope will not keep a set Zero
Six or eight shots and it’s off the paper at 25 meters
Maybe you can mount it on your 22 and buy a nicer Scope for this one
Others have complained about the Trigger on the Venom
I found that after I adjusted it, it works well enough for me
I don’t see the need in spending more money and time to trade it out

    Things I liked:

Good heavy and solid feel like a high powered rifle , Liked the adjustable trigger tension and travel , Very nice wood stock and not some plastic one . This is my first break barrel rifle and love the nitro piston power that it gives out . I have noticed with lighter pellets this 1200 fps gun sounds like a real .22 but with heavier pellets like 8.3 grains it works perfect for both knock down power and quiet pellet gun noise.

    Things I would have changed:

As mentioned from others - Get rid of the scope ! It's useless !! Seems you have to re-zero the included scope about every 100 shots through it. As others have mentioned also, they have a problem with the trigger . READ your instruction booklet as you can adjust the trigger on this rifle to shorten the pull range . I have mine set so it's almost like a hair trigger now . Some open sights would be nice to have on this rifle instead of relying on a scope only option.

    What others should know:

First thing I liked was Pyramyd Air's return exchange policy ! It seemed I received a defective gun because after about 60 rounds the break barrel would not open , not even hitting it with my fist ! The rifle was immediately replaced with another one after they received my broken one back . The new one appeared to be a used gun so I took it to a gunsmith who went over it carefully . Can't expect any quality item coming out of China and this was no exception. The butt of gun " looked " worn and filled with mud - Worn out look was probably from bouncing along a conveyor belt, he determined the 'mud' was factory dirt and cardboard dust, The stock where it meets the butt ( a nick ) was caused by sloppy workmanship, a barrel mar was caused from unprotected vise hold, Still not sure if this gun was a new or not ! Crosman use to be a good quality name to trust in air guns but my opinion of them has changed and this will be my last purchase from this company.

    Things I liked:

The wood finish of the gun is great. Looks really nice. The but pad is comfortable. The weight is decent too. The cocking of the gun is smooth and gets easier as it breaks in.

    Things I would have changed:

A smoother trigger that isn't "unpredictable". The scope is not that good. Maybe a metal muzzlebreak also.

    What others should know:

I got mine back in april. Now a couple months later it still will NOT hold zero at all. It goes from a quarterish size to a dollar size no matter what ammo. I have a still gun mount to zero it in and hold i stable. I cannot figure out what is wrong. Crosman told me to send it back so I am still waiting for an answer. I was wondering if anybody else had accuracy problems.

    Things I liked:

Quiet. Less recoil. Nice tight groups. Probably the best value for the money of everything we looked at. I got the wood stock (birch). I'd do it again. See my "dislikes."

    Things I would have changed:

The stock needs to be shaved on the top. The scope requires a very close focus so the face must be right in-line with the scope. The stock needs to have some relief on the top. (This is my only complaint but I'd certainly buy this same rifle again)

    What others should know:

The Nitro seems to be a much better system than the spring. I'm assuming Crossman has the patent on it and thus is the only supplier. I'm sure others will follow as soon as the patent expires for if they pay the rights.

    Things I liked:

This gun is very acurate for the money.Firing in a consistant grouping at 45 yards. I am a begginner with airguns so this gun suited me quite well. I would rate this as a good begginner to intermediate pellet gun. Also with the break barrel i can shoot about twice as much as i normally would with my other pump action airgun.

    Things I would have changed:

I found that the butt of the rifle needed to be longer but that was easy to replace. I also replace the crappy trigger with a charlie da tuna GTR III triger allowing for even more accuracy. The scope also had some issues but the gun was overall worth the money, especially since air guns with nitro pistons are normally about a hundred dollars more.

    What others should know:

If you want the maximum performance from this gun prepare to change the trigger and possibly the scope.Overall a gun worth buying. This gun surley became my favorite, fast.

    Things I would have changed:

Maybe the QA folks at Crosman can actually test these before putting them in a box and shipping them to distributors!

    What others should know:

Just got ours. Unfortunately, right out of the box with scope, shoots 4" right at 30 FEET! Scope doesn't click for windage or vertical, just unscrews and gets loose.

    Things I liked:

The build quality of the gun itself it very nice. Metal work was well finished as is the wooden stock. The butt pad is nicely fitted. All in all shots very well, as quiet as advetised. First fifty rounds were a little eradic but it settled down nicely to quarter sized groups after that.

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger is as everyone else says, long and very vauge, but for what it was designed for I would say it performs as designed. The scope, they should not have wasted the materials or time to even build it. I would suggest Crosman delete the scope from the offering, put the money into a little better trigger. The poor scope just takes away from what is a really nice little air rifle.

    What others should know:

Just get a better scope on day one.

This Nitro Venom AR was purchased by my wife & I for my retired brother-in-laws birthday,(#1)to introduce him to air-guns (instead of BB guns), & (#2)give him "A Real & Effective" control over "garden raiders". So far, he's "wacked" (4) rabbits & several gophers & he's singing our praises. (Besides, I'm interested in the efficies of "inert gas springs")

    Things I would have changed:

Maybe, for him to come up here (6 miles), so I could have an oppertunity to shoot it!

    What others should know:

Share you Air Gun wealth with your relatives. (My accuracy rating (the stars, above) are kind of an un-known to me, but evidently it's effective, by the results!)

    Things I liked:

Nice wood design, rubber butt stock, I LOVE the weaver rail, nitro piston, my first .22 and price is alright. Got the scope zeroed in within 10 shots at 25 yards. It's pretty accurate right out of the box and I haven't even broke in the barrel yet. I first cleaned the barrel before shooting it.

    Things I would have changed:

I read a lot of reviews and people said it has a long and unpredictable pull, which is true, but plan on getting a GRTIII trigger. Scope is ok, but you will want a better one with adjustable objective. I wish crosman can change the muzzle break because it's rubber/plastic instead of metal.

    What others should know:

For the price, it's a pretty decent gun compared to my Ruger Airhawk elite, piece of crap gun. All rifles have atleast something you won't like. On this gun it will be the trigger, muzzle break, and scope. Other than that, it's really nice and I love it!

    Things I liked:

Looks, feel, accuracy and power. I’ve had my Nitro Venom .22 cal for a week. Out of the box, the first 10 shots were consistent and held to a 3/4“ group, shooting 1.5” high by 2.75” to the right at 20 yards. A quick adjustment of the scope put me in the black. A couple more shots and a few more tweaks made the 10 ring disappear. I must say that I’m impressed! The Nitro piston technology is teamed up very well with this package and makes the Nitro Venom a blast to shoot. Powerful, quiet, and accurate, it’s tough to beat!

    Things I would have changed:

The stock trigger is sloppy and unpredictable. Come on Crosman, listen to your customers. There is no need to put out junk with today’s CNC capabilities. Clean up the trigger! For those of you purchasing this rifle, contact CharlieDaTuna and get a GRT III. You won’t believe the difference in feel and accuracy. Charlie does it right! The scope: mediocre at best, but at this price point for the package it’s not that bad. I would like to see this rifle sold with a good set of open sights sans the scope but keeping the integrated Weaver rail. The stock: it’s a little bulky but would clean up nicely by taking some of the fat out of the grip and slimming down the Monte Carlo cheeks.

    What others should know:

This rifle is not as hold sensitive as some other reviews have stated. If you’re looking for drop dead accurate, sub half inch groups, use the military hold. For hunting of offhand shooting the standard hunting hold is just fine. You’ll still be sub one inch at 20 yards. Overall, you can’t beat this package for the price. A little customization and you’ll have a quality, accurate rifle for years of enjoyment.

    Things I liked:

I have had the rifle only about 1-1/2 weeks and am overall pleased with the quality of the appearance and the manufacturing details. In the short time I have had after work I have only shot it about 40 times in the waning evening light so, granted, this review is based on very few shots fired (propelled?) from this gun. It is smooth and easy to cock, a little short in the pull for my staure but I can easily add a pad at the butt. The sighting picture does a good job of coming to point and the gun stock is quality - though perhaps a little thick through the wrist. Action is smooth and the weight settles nicely into your hands if bench shooting .... but is perhaps a little on the heavy side if you are carrying it out in the field. I was looking for a quiet gun and this one isn't so loud ... though perhaps louder than I expected from trying to quess at its noise levels from YouTube reports, reviews, etc. All-in-all a good looking and good feeling package - though the 3-9x scope looses all focus ability after about 7x. In talking with Support about this they admit the scope is a lower quality scope and comes as a package to "enhance the guns' appeal". They suggest a purchaser should "expect the gun to well out-last the scope". So, if you can live with a scope in the lower magnifications then this "CenterPoint" scope is very clear .... up to 7x on my gun. Otherwise plan on up-grading!

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger ... hummm. All the reviews I read previous to purchase mentioned the long and obnoxious trigger pull and poor let-off. One can get used to it -- but why? Designing a decent trigger is not that hard and for the quality of this gun it should be included! I think if I keep the gun I will do some "smithing" here to see if I can't improve the pull, otherwise I will purchase a better trigger sub-assembly. As to the scope - first hand impressions are very good. Nicely machined, positive "clicks" in the adjustments, a nice looking set-up. However .... see my comments above as to quality in the upper magnifications ... poor to intolerable!

    What others should know:

If I keep the gun I will probably do some stock "adjusting" as I am a "southpaw" and the ambidexterous Monte Carlo cheeks on the stock only add weight and bulk. I will also lighten the wrist to fit grip better ... but I know one needs to temper this impulse so as not to weaken that area too much and cause problems when subjecting it to the strong and sudden recoil of an air gun.
I'll also need to run quite a few more pellets through it to see if the barrel "settles down". I was getting 4" flyers about every 7th shot as I was trying to zero the scope - otherwise it was easily shooting 2" groups at a measured 62'. Not great ... but other reviews did promise it gets better. Tech Support did say I should see much better results after 200+ shots put through the barrel. With my schedule allowing for only limited shooting time I think I will try a bore brush and extensive cleaning jags first to see if I can quicken this "break-in".
For the most part I like the gun and will welcome it into my stable of other firearms.

Wood stock is very nice, all wood stock and foregrip, great blueing. Easy to install scope, high quality, you get what you pay for, a lot cheaper at Pyramyd air than at other places, great deal! I would deffinently recomend buying it if your on the fence , no doubt buy it!

    Things I would have changed:

I would add a front iron sites and a detachable iron sight on rear scope mount and also include the scope, but that's not necessarily what a lot of people want
