The AV Ram gas spring has very little vibration compared to my .22 CFX and .177 Varmint Hunter. It is balanced and easy to hold. It has a comfortable feel compared to the others.

More than a year ago I bought and installed the GRT-III trigger on my first two air rifles. With the Whisper, I ordered the GRT-III trigger the day that I bought the rifle. The trigger makes the rifle feel like my firearms. So, yes, I would change the trigger.

The scope (3-9/40) that came with the Whisper is much better than the scopes that came with my CFX or Varmint Hunter. It has a one piece ring system with a solid looking pin stop. It doesn't need the Gamo scope stop that I needed with the other rifles.

I had a shadow 1000 and got rid of it because the spring recoil. the gas conversion is AWESOME. I wish they had it before I got rid of my shadow. unlike other reviewers, I DID notice it is more silent as opposed to the same springer version. I used the 'raptor' pba amo, and it worked well. But I prefer the RWS super points. You can actually hear the crack of the raptors. and hear the point whiz down range. because the points are subsonic it is that much more quiet. I use mine for removing domestic terrorists (in my case rabbits). The first day I used it after sighting in the scope ( I thought the previous reviewers were a little harsh on the scope) I removed my first terrorist with not only a head shot, but an eye shot at about 15 yards.

Beautiful looking rifle. Extremely accurate right out of the box. Light weight. Powerful.

trigger could be better.

Besides the trigger, everything else about this air rifle is perfect. The guys at Pyramid Air did a fantastic job with installation of my new gas springs. This rifle is very accurate and is my first springer I've ever owned, the most powerful, and it's worth ever dime spent. From the time I mounted the scope, and took the first shot, the accuracy blew me away, and I haven't been able to put down the rifle. Where I live, we have a big Iguana lizard infestation. I sited in on a monster iguana at about 30 yards and dropped him with one shot. I love my new Gamo Whisper and just can't get enough of it.

The general feel of the peice. The balance is terrific and the lack of weight is such a bonus. The trigger is pretty much typical Gamo( I'll be getting a GRT III). The accuracy is great as well, the gas spring really smooths things out. I first iron sighted it and was impressed. When I put on the scope and sighted in I was totally blown away. I lovemy Whisper. This rifle is well worth the money if you are really into the sport. It's fun to shoot great to handle

The fit and finish on all the parts was first rate. The installalation of the gas spring by the pyramid air techs was flawless, the rifle looked like it came straight from the factory, from the outside you cant even tell what engine lies beneath the sleek high tech exterior ! The lightweight and handling characteristics of this rifle are attributes that really set this rifle apart from others. With the addition of the air venturi gas spring the rifle shot superbly smooth. Looking downscope I could actually watch my pellet strike the target because of the lack of excess vibration and kickback normally found in standard steel spring break barrel rifles. I couldnt tell a noticeable noise difference with the silencer shooting lead Diablo match pellets at subsonic speeds and it definatley didnt supress the supersonic crack of the PBA Raptor ammo but it does look good if nothing else. The stock fiber optic sites worked great, the included scope was easy to bolt on and I had it dialed in within minutes. The scope itself is kind of plain but it gets the job done for any serious plinker. I might reccomend a higher powered scope for hunting though.

The trigger was smooth and crisp but the physical trigger itself seemed kind of short. I found my finger more often than not pulling on the bottom point of the trigger rather than resting naturally in the curve, a minor complaint remedyed by wearing shooting gloves but still a slight anoyance.

I dont understand Gamo, they should be touting this rifles superb handling characteristics but instead they completley skim over this feature in favor of advertising the noise dampener... which in all honesty didnt make a whole lot of difference one way or another.

Bottomline you wont be dissapointed in this rifle using the air venturi gas spring, it is a whole world of difference from shooting steel spring rifles that can only be truly conveyed by shooting one for yourself.

I am completley satisfied with my purchase and couldnt be happier !

Smooth Quiet Easy to Cock

Stock scope isn't up to the rest of the gun

This gas ram conversion needs a nickname. Maybe "The Gaylord Gamo" or "The Theoben that Shoulda Been" -- can't decide. This inexpensive conversion does what many spend big bucks on to achieve in a tuned springer.

Very little recoil, very little noise (a "pop" as quiet as my R7, but lower pitched -- I think the moderator is doing its job). With scope it tips my postal scale at 6 lb. 12 oz. -- incredibly light and still perfectly behaved firing cycle.

This gun really needs Bob Werner's drop-in GRT-III trigger to complete it. With that trigger and this powerplant I think even serious piston fans will be very happy. (And if the seals on this Air Venturi unit prove reliable over time, this conversion might bring the gas ram market back to life. Much less jump and noise than the Theoben units I've fired in the past -- even lower-powered Theobens).

So far I'm getting good accuracy with a CPHs and a pretty tight hold. I couldn't make the artillery hold work for me with this gun. Haven't chronoed yet, but 16 ft. lbs. with 10.5 Premiers is a probably a good guess. Hits very hard.

Drop in a GRT-III trigger and you'll forget all the plastic once you touch-off a shot.
