Things I liked:

Solid feel, good constuction. metal and wood.not alot of plastic. Good old fashioned basic fun.

Things I would have changed:

A little short for adults.make the stock about 3inches longer. Good size for kids though. Add a fiber optic sight in the front. Good deal though for the price.

What others should know:

Wish they made one adult sized to use when shooting with the kids.

Great price, wood stock and fun to shot. I think it may be hard for a child to cock, at least my wife finds it hard. I am thinking of getting another one for my workshop rodent control program.

    Things I liked:

Its power, which has been more than I had with a Red Ryder but then from BB gun to BB gun even of the same model it appears there are variances in power (fps)..With minor adjustment to elevation it is dead on accurate and serves my purposes in keeping pests out of my small yard.

    Things I would have changed:

I had the fore grip and stock refinished..couldn't stand that "orange" looking finish it came with and i am short man and even for me the stock could be longer.

    What others should know:

I think it is too hard to cock for a young person, harder than my Red Ryder. Mine was defective in that the door on the BB loading opening wouldn't stay shut.. Rather than return it I had a jury rigged O'ring fix to keep it closed..When i went to return it to the factory I found it to cost almost as much in shipping costs than a new Sheridan Cowboy ..So when this one breaks I will buy another the warranty is no good with the expenses involved. Quality Control should of caught this!

    Things I liked:

i have bought multi air guns from PA , love them all , great gifts for young kids and adult friends , i just bought my third sheridan cowboy for me , i've own bb guns since i was a kid and now retired i can plink from my back porch , i highly recommend this gun for kids growing up , gets them outside and good bonding with fathers on teaching gun safety , so good

    Things I would have changed:

i saw some complaints on the length of the stock , oh well , it made for kids , ok , as a adult i can live it , oh well , i've shot real guns with short stocks

    What others should know:

i highly recommend the copper bb's vs steel bb's

    Things I liked:

-Overall solid gun -metal lever -looks great -good punch

    Things I would have changed:

-Needs a longerstock, or an optional butt pad for and adult shooter -Needs a bigger area around the trigger (very hard for me to get my finger in there) -hard to cock for a youth gun -could use a better finish on the metal parts

    What others should know:

While the lever is metal it has a weird tab on the back I've managed to pinch myself with more than once. Too hard to cock for youth, though excellent sized.

    Things I liked:

There is no doubt about it. This BB gun has a bit more power than the Daisy RR. At 15 feet the RR would only put a good dent in a soup can. The Sheridan Cowboy not only put a dent in the can but also added a deeper dent and a split to it. Wood and metal +++ Accuracy is very good.

    Things I would have changed:

The finish of the gun is a flat black. I would change that to a more realistic looking blued finish ???. The butt stock should be 1'' longer.

    What others should know:

This BB gun is no longer Marlin or Crosman supported. The BB gun I received from PA is the Sheridan Cowboy. The gun has no longer the ratcheting cocking lever. Why??? Law suite??.

    Things I would have changed:

    Quality control.

    What others should know:

The finish on this gun is flat black not as glossy like in the picture's. all work's fine except the lever is not ratcheted as advertised, at least the one I got isn't. You have to cock it all the way or it spring's back.

    Things I liked:

Sturdy build and very nice wood finished stock and forearm! Has enough weight to feel solid even for this adult. This is a real competitor to the Daisy Red Rider!! And it has a metal cocking lever...no skimpy composite material!! Out of the box everything was solid - no loose screws, etc. and shoots strong.

    Things I would have changed:

    For the money...nothing!

    What others should know:

A great BB gun for entry level and on up with enough power to please any plinker!! Thanks for the great product!!

    Things I would have changed:

    Smoother trigger,it is very "crunchy"

    What others should know:

Not accurate when bought a year ago but much better with use, now getting 0.8 to 1.4 inch groups at 5 meters, but trigger feels no better.

    Things I liked:

I like that this airgun is mostly hardwood and metal. The black metal is a nice contrast to light coloured wood stock and fore grip. I like that it holds 700 rounds! I like how the gun diesles at first! A little smoke is fun with this Cowboy gun! The low report is perfect for indoor use.

    Things I would have changed:

I would change the Quality control person who let my gun get by them with faulty rear sights that were crooked and the part of the rear sight for aiming ("u") should have been thrown out instead of on the gun. I decided to bend the rear sight with pliers to line it up properly with the front sight, instead of packing the gun up and returning it from Canada to PA.

    What others should know:

Don't over oil inside the gun....but to avoid rust on the external parts just wipe the gun down with a rag & Pellgun oil, including the wood stock.

    Things I liked:

I like the blues metal and hardwood stock and fore grip. It's a beautiful little replica of the marlin lever action rifle. I like the velocity. I like how quiet this gun is, perfect for shooting indoors on rainy days and in the winter .

    Things I would have changed:

I would have made the trigger metal. I would have made the butt stock at least 2-3 inches longer so its easier for an adult to shoot. I'd like to see an adult version that shoots harder(450-495 fps) and has a little longer butt stock.

    What others should know:

Don't over oil and treat the wood with an oily rag/cloth as well as wipe the metal regularly with an oily cloth to keep rust from forming.

    Overall finish and looks.

    Things I would have changed:

Never would of purchased it if i knew what i know now. I had (2) Marlin Cowboys new in the box and both were all over a paper target at 15 to 20 feet. Shot about 100 rounds in each gun and used bb's made by Crosman as per stated in the manual.Accuracy poor. I have other bb rifles that are very accurate right out of the box and in the same price range., fun to shoot.

    What others should know:

Nice looking gun but not much fun to shoot. Save your money.

    Things I liked:

Construction is cool and is wonderful for youth to handle. Pretty good power and accuracy plus good wood stock makes it more than worth its price, for sure! Easy to operate is another added advantage.

    Things I would have changed:

The lever does not settle down in its groove that well. Seems to be a case of mis-alignment.... The rear sight adjustment itself impedes view of foresight. I mean, this is a classic case of basic mistake. The trigger is pretty hard for young ones to really get the hang of it. And the level hole itself could be a wee bit more for that extra comfort.

    What others should know:

Its small but packs a mean punch. Dont be fooled by its size and use adequate caution. The metal is good but does not seem to be well treated. Use a good anti-rust wipe after every use.

    Things I liked:

This airgun has real WOOD stocks, anti-kickback mechanism, and decent sights. It has a 'look' similar to the Marlin 30-30 I had when I was younger. A very nice first 'gun' for a child, with adult supervision of course. I'm considering making a 'mantel' display with Marlin and the Red Ryder - depends upon She Who Must Be Obeyed.

    Things I would have changed:

It would be nice if Crosman offered, at least as an after-market option, an adult-LOP sized stock. Many of us adults enjoy BB & pellet guns, and I would really like to try this one out, but the buttstock is, size for a child, and a small one at that, with a very short length of pull (LOP), approx. 12". I'm considering pulling it off, temporarily, using it to make a pattern for a new one, for shooting. Should be easy, as there are no real 'nasty' curves, using hardwood ¾" thick by 5 - 5½" wide and as long as my LOP. Should be hoot

    Things I liked:

Unpacked the cardbosrd Lithographed, multi-colored Box, just like my Daisy Red Ryder and Daisy model 25. Great for display and closet storage. Careful, the long box flap may be hot clued, so use a box cutter to get up inside the flap to open. Careful not to cut the flap or yourself. Comes with complete instructions, typical of Crosman BB guns, which is the manfacturer ( made in China) since they bought the Marlin name for BB Guns from Remington Arm which had bought the family owned Marlin Company in 2007, as I recall. The metal work seems to be powder coated with a black color. All of the fasteners are Torx except for a phillps head screw on the top tang and two for the rear sight so you can adjust the rear sight, I guess. Out of the box, with my prefered Daisy zinc-coated BBs, it shot darn near spot on at 15 feet. The heavy tin can showed hits no more deep than the Red Ryder or the Daisy 25. More deep than the Marksman Laserhawk 2021. Cocking is more like 15 pounds, and I guess since it is harder to cock than the Red Ryder, it may have a shorter and more powerful spring. But any ten year old will have no problems. Stock is honey oolor showing straight grain and nice satin scheen clear coat. This Marlin Cowboy BB gun performance, fit and finish is a buy, even to just to hang on a wall ! Buy it. Pyramyd Air is always the place to shop. They pack very well. And they have the best price.

    Things I would have changed:

I am six feet tall, and have no problem shoulder it, despite the 12 inch length of pull. It would be nice if I can find a slip on butt pad from Brownells or somebody. Maybe Crosman could offer an accessory Slip On Butt Pad. Notice no Pistol Grip butt stock. I prefer this over a pistol grip butt stock. My old Marlin 1936 had a straight stock.

    What others should know:

With the cross bolt safety and metallic sights ( not Glow Worms..), this would be an ideal first gun for a kid to learn shooting and safety. Sit down, draw a picture of ideal sight image, and go at it..Tin cans at first, then a real 5 meter BB gun (like) paper target. You will make no mistake buying one or more of this little Marlin Cowboy "Big Gun" looking BB gun.

    Things I liked:

It looks more like a real lever-action firearm than a toy. The wood stock is blond-finished with visible wood grain. The major assemblies are bolted together. Because it looks and feels like it's built well, I gave this little airgun more of a chance than many other reviewers. I'm glad I did! Now that I've swabbed out the crap they greased the shot tube with at the factory and run about 500 bbs through it, my accuracy with it is very close to my Daisy Red Ryder and it keeps getting better. It's got a bigger punch that makes backyard (and indoor) plinking MUCH more satisfying. Today, I shot a couple #2 pencils with it from 15 feet. Now, that's fun! I'll try to post some demonstration video soon. Power! I don't have a chrony to measure it, but I shoot them one after the other and can tell from the damage inflicted on the target that the Marlin is stronger than the Daisy. Rips through aluminum cans, buries a lot deeper into a telephone book backstop. Classic lever action is fast and feels natural.

    Things I would have changed:

It's true that it's harder to cock than the Daisy, but that's why it thumps instead of plinks. The sights seem to be harder to use than the Daisy, judging by the number of people who say that can't hit with it. To me, the front post is a bit thin and the rear notch is a bit wide. The trigger pull could be bit lighter. But, I can hit a pencil with it at 15 ft, so... More risk of ricochet due to higher velocity. No kidding; please wear eye protection!!

    What others should know:

Competition is good! Daisy had changed the cocking lever to plastic; I guess Red Ryders were lasting too long. Then Crosman strikes a deal with Marlin to sell a "Cowboy" bb carbine, and they make the lever steel again. Buy it so Crosman will keep selling it. I'm getting another.

wow a real BB gun that works like it should, Daisy should take note. Has power to hit target and not drop at 50 foot, nice wood stock and real metal in contruction, nice gun for beginner that will last many years

    Things I would have changed:

the stock is way to short but I can live with that after buying Daisy guns that don't last a year before breaking,

    What others should know:

    great value for the money

    Things I liked:

The stock has a nice finish and fit , overall craftsmanship is great , nice looking gun and the ratchet cocking is safe .

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger pull , it's like breaking a stick , the stock is at least 2 inches too short . If the stock fits you , you will be too small to cock this gun or pull the trigger with any acuracy .

    What others should know:

Buy the Red Ryder now that Daisy has replaced the cheap plastic lever with metal once again. The gun is 2.5 inches longer in the stock , the trigger is smooth , easy to cock and quite accurate .
