    ASP20, 22 cal Wood stock.

This is my second Breakbarrel. It’s heavy but that is a good thing. Love this, I have fitted it with three different optics. Romeo 5 Red Dot, ATN IR X Sight 4KPro Scope and a BDX 4.5-14X 44mm Scope. Wow is all I can say. Super Accurate. 14.5, 19.2, and 14.3 Pellets.

    High quality!

Built like a real rifle. Very substantial! Very accurate!

    The signature lock breach barrel.

I really enjoy the accuracy of this Air Rifle. The feel of it is unmatched when compared to other Break Barrels. No artillery hold!

    ASP20 .22 cal Wood Stock

Love this Pellet Rifle. Performs great. Have a Sig BDX 4.5-12X Sierra3 Scope on it. Great combination.

    Things I liked:

I like the feel, balance, weight, accuracy, cocking weight, build quality, noise level and looks. Mine is in .22 with the Beech stock.

    Things I would have changed:

I'll have to get back to you on that as I've found very little that I don't like yet, though I might add sling swivels. I wish the scope base came back farther as I have to crowd the stock to get a full sight picture. An adjustable length of pull might help with this too.

    What others should know:

The only pellets I've been using so far have been Crosman Premier Hollow Points. There are acceptably accurate but don't seat without a little help. I've been using a pen to seat the pellets and it works fine. I'll be trying other pellets and maybe they'll seat easier.

    Great trigger and quality

I purchased the ASP20 at the 1st of the year and have been very happy with the purchase. The trigger is a dream compared to rifles I have owned in the past. Very accurate and easy to use. The ASP20 has a much louder report than I expected for backyard shooting. Overall the ASP20 is an excellent backyard/field plinker.

    Quality, Made in the USA

I’ve always had a love of break barrel airguns and the Sig ASP is a work of art. I also purchased the Whiskey3 scope and appropriate mounts from Sig Sauer. I am overjoyed with this airgun and highly recommend this package.

    Things I liked:

This is my first Breakbarrel air rifle and im impressed. It took about 100 shots to break in, and for the accuracy to really get going. I have this in .22 I was able to get good groups at 50 yards. What impressed me the most is when i loaded it with JSB 15.89s and shot at a bird from 50 yards. SMACK! From the first shot! It dropped dead immediately. Then 10 minutes later another bird sits at the same spot. I load the barrel and take another 50 yard shot and again, from the first shot, its down! This thing prefers, the JSB 15.89. Ive fired the JSBs 18grain, the Crosman Premier Hollow points, and the H&N Hornets. This gun shoots them all well. Accuracy is the hallmark of this gun, it also looks and feels premium. I feel as though this gun can last 10+ years with ease. The cocking effort is easy, i shot this thing for 4 hours on my first sitting and felt no fatigue. This needs an airgun rated scope. I use the Hawke Airmax 4-12x40 and theyre great together. The trigger is great too

    Things I would have changed:

maybe reduce the trigger pull weight to an even lower 1.5 or 2 pounds? Maybe im being too picky. The trigger is smooth on default, which is 3 pounds, it gets better at 2.5 pounds.

    What others should know:

If you want to get yourself your first Springer, you might want to consider the ASP 20

    The accuracy
    The build quality
    The trigger
    The looks
The fact that its completely assembled in America. Are all reasons to get this gun

That and Its loads of fun to shoot

    Things I liked:

We have 2 of these in 22. Gun 1 has over 8,000 shots through it. Gun 2 has over 3.000 shots fired through it. There are no signs of ware on either rifle. The accuracy is still excellent. The power has remained unchanged. With RWS hobby lead pellets 11.9 grain 931 fps average @ 3,000 shots, 931 fps average @ 6,000 shots in10 shot strings. We shot 30 different pellets to find the best pellet. With alloy pellets we got over 24 fpe. The trigger pull we adjusted to 2 lbs. Great trigger! The Sig ASP 20 is now our favorite break-barrel over my Beeman R9.

    Things I would have changed:

None. The ASP 20 is a great high quality product and it's made in the USA.

    What others should know:

The latch mechanism needs to be lightly greased occasionally to keep the barrel closing freely. Best pellet is the Air Arms 16 gr. with the 5.51 head size. JSB 15.89 gr. domed pellets also shot well as did the Crosman premier domed pellets. Pellets with .552 head size will also fit the breech Larger sizes are a very tight fit.

    Things I liked:

This review may not be rated as a Verified Purchase as the gun (Synthetic .22, no scope) was returned for refund after 16days of trial. Gun is well packaged, cosmetically beautiful and accurate. The unscoped weight on a digital bathroom scale was an average of 8lbs 4oz +/-2oz (the difference between my weight and the total while holding the gun).

    Things I would have changed:

Trigger adjust directions are inadequate, especially regarding pull weight. The necessity to manually seat some pellet brands is a negative, especially if they happen to be the most accurate in which case the breech would have to be reamed. Both trigger adjustments were gently put thru their range, monitoring pull length, pull weight, and a lot of creep. Not much difference felt along the way and no noticeable transition from a Stage1 to a Stage 2, just one long stage ending with definite creep near sear release. I would prefer a wood stock, But not if finished in black.

    What others should know:

Not as backyard friendly as expected. Black metal finish altho cosmetically beautiful is Very thin. Strength required to break and to cock is high; youngsters will not be cocking this gun and adults will have to be deliberate; I would not expect a gas ram to become weaker due to "break-in". My CenterPoint 3-9x40AO was installed. Scope rings left minor bruises on the rail; so the rail finish is not durable nor, I assume, is the rest of the metal finish. ~150 pellets were shot [100 Premier HPs 14.4gr (too tight to be seated by mere finger pressure), 50 JSB Jumbo Exacts 15.9gr (loose enouge to be finger-pressed in)]. My Chrony is broken. The spring-loaded Phillips head stripped out far too easily leaving no way to adjust trigger pull weight. No Pyramyd feedback on the trigger was available. Sig will service the gun (estimated ~$55 insured return shipping cost), so that is only way to get parts.

    Verified Purchase

    Things I liked:

I've only put about 250 pellets through my .177 ASP20, and so far i'm quite impressed. Once you figure out how this powerful springer likes to be held and which ammo it prefers, it's quite simple to repeatedly get dime sized groups (and smaller) at 20 yards.(sometimes stacking pellets, which for a magnum springer is very good) the overall feel of quality in the stock weight, smoothness in cocking effort, and solid feeling breech lock-up make it a pleasure to shoulder and fire. for my purposes, i intend to only use it for plinking fun and target practice, (i prefer my PCPs for pesting) and it DEFINITELY delivers that fun by the truckload. (though, with practice, i think it's plentifully accurate, powerful and repeatable enough to easily and humanely take appropriately sized game) additionally, i like to "train" shooting a springer as i feel it improves my shooting skill because i think most anyone can pick up a decent pcp rifle and stack pellets all day.

    Things I would have changed:

all of these are very *minor* nit-picks here, but in a perfect world.... 1) i like the picatinny rail, but if it were longer in the direction of the rifle butt, my scope ring placement would be more optimal for the scope's eye relief. 2) unlike many springers, the safety is manual (not automatically setting every time the rifle is cocked), which i LOVE, and it's nice that it's ambidextrous, but... it's a little stiff/awkward to set. i'd prefer a push button safety or even a lever style, similar to the M-Rod's. (like i said, these are minor nit-pick issues and personal preferences, not flaws) 3) an adjustable comb would be nice, but would certainly add to the cost of the rifle 4) a lighter colored stock option possibly... the dark stain makes it appear synthetic even though it is most definitely solid wood, and i think people who prefer wooden stocks also generally prefer the color of... well, ...wood.

    What others should know:

    1) some have issues with their triggers, & i hope Sig or PA can get that sorted for them, but my trigger seems perfect out of the box, in both its pull weight and travel. some also find issue with its width and that it's poly, but again, no issues here for me.
    2) seating pellets into the breech *is* a very tight fit, and i def recommend using an allen wrench or other tool to properly seat each pellet into the rifling at the breech each time. this is better for consistency & accuracy anyway, and would generally recommend it.(there's a satisfying "click" feeling as the pellet seats into the rifling) if you're not using a tool to seat the pellet, be careful to not push the pellet in with your thumbnail as you will damage its skirt.
    3) magnum springer = artillery hold, right? that's what i thought, but my ASP20 likes to be shouldered firmly, thumb tight against the thumb rest, foregrip on a bag and good follow through. try different holds and see what works for you, your mileage may vary

    Things I liked:

Nice looking air gun, shot real nice and quiet before it broke.

    Things I would have changed:

Sig Sauer should check the break barrel mechanism for defects, or verify you quality checks to ensure the airguns going out the door are not defective. This is a lot of money to spend on an airgun to have it malfunction with fewer than 20 pellets through it. The rifle shot just fine until I went to break the barrel about the 15th time and something came loose in the cocking mechanism and now there is no resistance at all when cocking it. Very disappointed after waiting so long for this air rifle. Pyramid Air answered my chat on Memorial Day and was very professional. I hope I do not have to pay shipping for the return, because the failure was not due to my actions.

    What others should know:

The person I chatted with at Pyramid Air stated this is the first ASP 20 failure he has heard of. Guess I am just the lucky customer...

    Great for varmits

My friend and I each bought one of these guns. Put a 3x9 scope and it is great for varmits and for fun shooting. Couldn't be happier.

    Things I liked:

Everything but the trigger. Stock is quite nice, I really like the color, finish is great.

    Things I would have changed:

    Trigger is total garbage.

    What others should know:

The rifle is everything I was looking for in a break barrel air rifle. Except the trigger. I tried multiple different trigger weight settings and adjusted the two stage break point in dozens of combinations with no success. Regardless of the trigger adjustment there was about 1/10" or MORE of trigger creep with a soft mushy break. Tremendously disappointed.

    Things I liked:

Obvious attention to detail Shot well out of the box. Smooth The trigger surprised me. Exceptional!!!! Feels slightly less than the advertised pull, and so well executed. Didn't think I'd like how "straight" the trigger is, but seriously one of the best triggers. After 700 pellets, it is shooting as cleanly as the Weihrauch hw80 easily.

    Things I would have changed:

Would like the trigger to be metal.

    What others should know:

Shoots well off sandbag. Did I mention the trigger???

    Things I liked:

Very accurate break barrel rifle that outperforms my Weihrauch HW97K...I was shocked! The Weihrauch has the better trigger ( the vaunted Reckord trigger) but is quite hold sensitive. In my hands, I am more consistently able to hit a bottle cap at 50 meters (55 yards) with the Sig ASP20. I noticed that the fired pellets have very pronounced rifling marks but read that the barrel is NOT choked. Regardless though, Sig makes one helluva accurate barrel that rivals the best of the European (German) barrels from my personal results. And did I mention that this astounding accuracy was achieved with cheap and readily available Crosman .22 hollow point Premier pellets?!

    Things I would have changed:

The gun is rather long and a bit unwieldy but is quite steady and ideal for benchrest shooting. There was some rust where the barrel intersected the breech. I applied some oil to prevent further rusting.

    What others should know:

You definitely get your moneys worth despite it being on the high end price-wise for a non European spring-air/Nitrogen piston powered rifle. You will not be disappointed. Big Bang-for the buck! Cocking effort is good for the power output but length makes achieving leverage awkward. I have the wooden beech .22 cal version.

  • Rating 4.04.0 4.0

    Quality air rifle

Seems to be a quality made air rifle. I have only been able to shoot it at a random piece of wood without scope so unable to know how accurate it will be. When will the Whiskey 3 ASP scope that is made for this air rifle be available? I am unable to use it until I get the Sig Sauer scope.
