    Things I liked:

The gun is heavy and has a real feel. That's probably the only thing I like about this gun.

    Things I would have changed:

The quality of the gun is marginal at best. First gun I received was incredibly flawed as if nobody inspected this thing on the way out the door! Internal mechanism completely jammed after about 10 minutes of use. I probably put 50 BBs through it and then it was junk. Spend your hundred bucks on anything else, just not this gun.

    What others should know:

Accuracy is horrific with this thing, it's actually comical. I can watch the BBs fly left and right like crazy, you have to be about 30 feet from your target to even come close with this thing. Half of the C02 cartridges just blow out air and are wasted so make sure to buy plenty of C02!

    Things I liked:

Realistic blowback action helps with training. Partial takedown for cleaning mimics the real gun. Fairly consistent shot groupings.

    Things I would have changed:

Shoots 2" low, I've had two and they both did this. The sights are not adjustable for elevation. The magazine is almost impossible to load BBs into without a screwdriver to hold back the spring loaded tab. Maybe you guys have tougher fingers but it tears mine up trying. Also true of both guns. On the first gun the striker was not properly installed so that it was almost impossible to remove the slide since it would hang up on the striker. The first gun had a problem with excessive friction with the slide and only would get thru 30 shots before it stopped cycling altogether.

    What others should know:

They replaced the gun, the second time I called, without arguing about it (the first they said I caused my own problems by using copper coated steel BBs and by using Crossman CO2 tanks which apparently have a shorter neck). I guess I'll try and figure out a way to adjust the sights for elevation, otherwise I'm aiming at the 1 o'clock outer ring on the target, which is a little tough to lock into!

    Things I liked:

It's light weight, looks great, feels great for me, with Med. grip. Good blow back and lock back when empty. I used a black sharpie to blot out the right side white lettering. I also blacked out the inside of the barrel. I may still get a bluing pen. I like the mag. with pellets charged and ready. Good toy for the money.

    Things I would have changed:

There was NO thought put into loading this. The loading operation is stupid, stupid, stupid. Prepare to chase BB's when you first get it. if you don't have finger nails, don't buy it. If you have long finger nails and want to keep them don't buy it. It's a finger nail loading mag. I'm still working on a better way to get it loaded. So far I'm not there but I don't give up easy. If I do come up with a better way,,, I'll post it. If you come up with a better way PLEASE post it. (Smith & Wesson *should* do something about this)

    Things I liked:

Everything! This gun is as good as they say it is. Lightweight but has good heft when the clip is in. I like the licensing on it, great blowback. Mine does not shoot low and has been more accurate then the reviews I have been reading. I use the smallest back strap and it feels great in hand. There is a rail but the gun feels so well balanced as is I wouldn't add anything.

    Things I would have changed:

Why do we have to have such loud obnoxious warning writing on the side? It can be etched in and colour matched and not look so ugly.

    What others should know:

If you like blowback pistols do not hesitate to buy this. I was on the fence for a while because I prefer 1911's but after reading so many reviews on the quality of this replica and how well it shoots, I bought one. I'm glad I did. It's in the top 3 of the 24 airguns I own.

    Things I liked:

I bought this to use as a training tool viz my M&P 2.0. I was surprised at how realistic it was, and the weight, while lighter that the loaded real deal, was good. I like the field-strip capability, and use that as part of my dry-fire and other training routines. Not exactly the same, but close enough. It fits my holsters, and that is also useful for drawing and presenting exercises. It is also fun to shoot in my basement! A lot cheaper than the range, even if not quite as satisfying. Still, a good value for the money, and a heck of a lot cheaper per round fired!

    Things I would have changed:

Crisper stippling on the grip. It gets pretty slick after a bit of handling. The allen key for the CO2 change is kind of clumsy, but it works.

    What others should know:

Umarex tells me that I shouldn't use Crossman cartridges with this pistol. I am having to return it to them after only two cartidge changes. not because of the CO2, but because the "striker" that hits the gas valve seems to have failed. This after only about 140 BBs. Still, I am looking forward to shooting it when it is repaired or replaced. Until then, I am shooting my CZ P07 Duty, with blowback. Or my M 2.0, for realz.

    Things I would have changed:

Magazine is a little hard to load.

    What others should know:

Just a great pistol. Just like the M&P 40.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Rating 3.03.0 3.0

    Things I liked:

Extremely realistic. Very convincing replica. The polymer frame is very high quality, doesn't feel like cheap plastic at all. The magazine is made out of metal, feels very solid and weighty. Inserting the mag results in a very satisfying click and the mag goes in positively. The C02 goes right into the bottom of the mag, there's a little screw that you remove with an allen wrench, pop the c02 in there and then tighten the screw. Very easy to insert the C02. Trigger pull feels like a real S&W trigger pull, kind of mushy but that's authentic to the real gun. Pulling the slide back feels awesome, it makes a very cool metallic sound and there is a fair amount of spring resistance from the recoil spring so it's sort of hard to pull back making it feel a bit more realistic. Sights are great metal 3 dot white sights, they look like they are removable. It also features the removable back straps that the real gun has, and it comes with a small medium and large just like the real one.

    Things I would have changed:

The gas efficiency is relatively poor, I am only getting 3 15 round mags for C02 fill, so about 45 rounds or so. Those 3 mags are very consistent though and there is not any noticeable power drop off during those three mags. It's not the most accurate airgun in the world, but no C02 bb pistol is exactly a tack driver. I am very comfortable with the level of accuracy that this gun has. As realistic as the gun feels and functions there is not a whole lot of recoil, it would definitely be nice to have a little bit more recoil.

    What others should know:

The disassembly procedure is pretty weird, it is not explained in the manual at all and I think it says in the manual to not disassemble the gun, but I don't understand why there would be such a realistic and intuitive field strip procedure if you're not supposed to disassemble it. To disassemble the gun, remove the magazine, pull the slide back to cock the hammer, then push down on the takedown lever and pull the slide straight off the frame. You can then remove your recoil spring and barrel the same way you would on a real firearm. Be careful to seat the recoil spring in the slide all the way. When reassembling it, put the slide back on the frame and then pull back on the slide very slightly to flip the take down lever back up, and then your gun will be reassembled. The field strip process is not authentic to the real gun, which is fine with me.

    Things I liked:

The blowback, field strip is fine, sights, trigger is my favorite part.

    Things I would have changed:

The Allen wrench they give you for the drop out magazine co2 bolt is the wrong size and the bolt it self is made of a very weak metal.

    What others should know:

Overall this has very good performance.

    Things I liked:

The look and feel is just like my powder M&P 40. Loading and co2 are done in the magazine which makes it just like the real thing, and being a blow back just adds to making it realistic.

    Things I would have changed:

What I would like to see is better Quality Control! My first M&P I had to return because gun jammed from something internal. PA sent me a new one and this one operates just fine so far but will not hold air more than a day. Not going to send this one back, I'll see if I can fix myself.

    What others should know:

This gun is fun to shoot and not bad accuracy wise. I put a laser sight on which helped a lot.Don't look for groups with this gun, like the real M&P it's a short range weapon and putting 10 shots in the 9 and 10 zone on a 10 meter target is good shooting.

    What others should know:

Very difficult to load. Also I agree with other comments be careful with the CO2 cartridge lock down screw.. Very testy. You will need a lot of patience.

    Things I liked:

This is a sharp looking BB gun, and it feels good when holding it. It comes with two extra grips small and large. Each grip gives the gun a different feel when your holding it. It ships with the medium grip on it. Out of the box it seems to shoot low, but there is a screw at the barrel assembly that can adjust it, unfortunately mine was already stripped when I got it. other than that I love the gun.

    Things I would have changed:

The cap screw for the CO2. Getting it started takes a little time, So be careful you don't cross thread it.

    Rating 4.04.0 4.0

    Things I liked:

There is much about this Smith & Wesson M&P 40 that I like. It's a very realistic replica with working thumb safety, slide lock, and take down levers just like the actual firearm. The blowback is strong and provides a satisfying sensation of recoil. The magazine is a full drop out magazine that contains both the CO2 and the BBs. The changeable grip back strap is a wonderful bonus. I like the smaller size grip much better. Ever since I purchased the M&P 45 pellet pistol, I've been waiting for Umarex to make a blowback version with an adjustable grip. This pistol has reasonably good accuracy for a smooth barrel blowback BB pistol. The under barrel rail is long enough to mount several possible lasers. I mounted the Swiss Arms Metal Micro Rail Laser. With this Swiss Arms laser mounted, the M&P 40 still fits well in the UTG Deluxe Commando Belt Holster.

    Things I would have changed:

I wouldn't change much. The front sight blade is adjustable for windage. The rear sight is fixed, but I would like to see it made adjustable for elevation. A notch in the BB magazine to lock down the BB follower for loading would also be helpful.

    What others should know:

The shot count is reasonably good although my results are variable. One Crosman CO2 got as many as 78 shots, but another got only 61. The BBs I have tested in this M&P 40 are Umarex Premium, Excite Smart Shot, Daisy Premium and Avanti, Marksman, Hornady Black Diamond, and Crosman Copperhead. Shot from a bench rested position at 18 feet distance to target, all of these BBs produced 10 shot groups less than 2" except for Daisy Premium and Avanti. The two Daisy BB groups were between 2" and 2.5". Without the laser, the shots hit the target a little left and below center. Some reviewer's comments have called for Umarex to increase the pistol's shot power. I don't agree. The M&P's rated fps is comparable to several other blowback BB pistols. Remember, the CO2 pushes the BB down the barrel and pushes the slide back, two functions that are in competition. I don't think shot power can be increased without reducing the strength of the blowback.

    Things I liked:

Very, very true to the "real thing" - I can even use my Crossbreed IWB concealed carry holster - it fits perfectly..! Very realistic fit, feel, and operation...

    Things I would have changed:

I do wish the magazine had a way to "lock" the follower to make it easier to load BB's - the spring is quite strong, and it can be hard to hold the follower down while loading. Not a "big deal", just a "nice to have"....

    What others should know:

NO - this is a very good pistol...

    Things I liked:

Feels like the real thing. I own a S&M 40 powder gun and this except for the weight feels the same in my hands. Nice trigger and crisp blow back make this a fun gun to shoot. Breaks down to clean and lube just like my real one. Very accurate at 10 feet.

    Things I would have changed:

The only thing I would change is either give it more power or add adjustable sights. Any target over 15 feet the gun shoots low with now way to adjust elevation.

    What others should know:

Great practice gun but with power at only 300 FPS don't expect accuracy past 15 feet. What I did was add a laser sight to mine. Now I can shoot out to 30 feet with accuracy.

    Things I liked:

Extremely realistic looking and feeling. Great trigger and nice crisp blowback. Comes in a box, not a cheap clamshell package. Drop free mag that holds both the Co2 and BB's is a nice touch.

    Things I would have changed:

Rear sight needs to be adjustable for elevation or the front sight made not as tall.

    What others should know:

Accuracy using the 6 o'clock hold on target at 15 to 20 ft. unacceptable. Shoots 3 to 4"s low no matter what brand BB I used. I would have to aim above the bullseye just to hit it. Groupings were good, just way to low. Problem is that the front sight seems too tall and there is no way to adjust it or raise the rear sight. Umarex needs to address this problem. It's a real shame because I had such high hopes for this pistol. On a positive note, Pyramid Air handled my return of this defective pistol both quickly and smoothly .What a great company!

    Things I would have changed:

Power. I don't know what in the world Umarex was thinking when they released this pistol with such a low FPS. If I did not collect air pistols I would have sent this one back!

    What others should know:

I am so disappointed in the FPS of this pistol I would say to anyone contemplating purchasing this pistol to PASS! And to Umarex.....YOU FAILED MISERABLY!!!

    Things I liked:

same kick as the tanfoglio witness 1911, thick metal slide, verry accurate, 7/8'' grouping at 10 feet for 10 shots. I had to put a bit of PL-100 (lubricant) into the hammer area (with slide removed), as the contact zone where the hammer meet the trigger mechanism was a bit stiff, after putting my magic PL-100, it came verry smooth. Verry fun to hold, really nice looking and feel, shoot always at the same spot, no flyer on all my 50 shots. piercing mechanism with screw like the TFW that make a huge hole into the co2 bottle, allowing constant power until the verry end, I had 50 good shots and 8 weak shots. You have to aim with the center of the front dot in the middle of the rear top sight line, than align the center of the front dot into the bullye of your target to hit center, so it shoot a bit low like many guns. But it is better this way, shooting too high is impossible to compensate with precision.

    Things I would have changed:

black metal outer barrel, instead of black paint that mark verry easy on the first slide moves.

    What others should know:

the safety lever is a bit stiff, but works well. Slide lock back on the last rounds with no problem

    Things I liked:

I was excited to see this arrive and finally get one in my hands. After owning the real steel pistol for the past 10 years I wanted this one to do some shooting in my back yard that wasn't a airsoft version. I needed something with blowback and that would give a report when hitting objects... this fits the bill. The pistol is very close to the real thing. The replaceable back straps allows me to mimic the real thing in feel and I found the pistol to be accurate. It does tend to be a co2 hog as I only got two magazines worth, but in all fairness I was shooting fairly rapidly most likely due to my comfort of using the real thing. The trigger is also smooth and moderate but the break takes a little getting use to.

    Things I would have changed:

I personally don't care for the thumb safety (the trigger safety works fine) but the real versions can be ordered with them for people who feel more comfortable with a secondary safety when they carry them. The only giveaway from the real thing would be the Smith & Wesson logo is on the left side of the gun as opposed to the right side. No doubt to make room for the safety warning on the other side. The only other thing worth mentioning would be the text on the pistol is in white rather than engraved on the slide. Only the .22 version of the real thing comes this way.

    What others should know:

This is a great pistol. Shoots well, feels good, the weight is nice and the action is smooth. Great for training or just back yard fun! Can't wait till extra mags are available.
