    Things I liked:

This gun has some real velocity with "standard weight" lead pellets. I am still trying to find the best accuracy pellets for this gun. The gas piston "reaxis" makes it far less sensitive to how you hold it. The silencer really works well. Those two qualities make you think it is low power but is anything but!The trigger is pretty good, much better than I expected.

    Things I would have changed:

The barrel was very dirty possibly rusty.I spent a lot of time cleaning it with Kroil and polishing it with JB'S bore paste. The accuracy improvement as well as velocity was remarkable and gratifing.

    What others should know:

The more power you want from a airgun the more power you will have to put in it.The laws of physics dictate that,no free lunch here.It takes a lot of effort to cock this but don't pull on the silencer or press in the scope in the process. The airseal on the breach had a void in it and did not seal properly Umarex sent one for free is short order.

    Things I liked:

Wow first to review, I feel special!. Just got the .22 version and having shot 50 or so rounds here's what I've found: Powerful enough to drive pellets thru 3/4 plywood with crossman penetrators, no louder than my Sheridan Blue streak, decent scope (that require locktite to stay put) smooth trigger and a comfortable feel that has good balance. In fact it feels more like a real rifle than most airguns. I sighted the scope by shooting from artillery position and while I can't speak to the finer points of accuracy, the gut shot very consistently. Once sited in I was putting everything within a silver dollar at 25 yards, but I think it's be better than that. I like the safety location and the overall quality is on-par with the Gamo and other guns in the price range, but better looking IMO

    Things I would have changed:

While it's not hard to cock, I was surprised at the effort, significantly more difficult than my friends Diana, perhaps it'll ease up once all the parts start to mesh. Still way better than pumping though. I gave accuracy 4 stars just because I haven't bench tested it.

    What others should know:

A step up in every conceivable way from my old Blue Streak .22 except maybe in trigger feel (which is adjustable but I haven't monkeyed with it yet). Very powerful, reasonably quiet and good handling. I can't wait to shoot it some more.

    Things I liked:

Very powerful and accurate, was still getting a good grouping after 40 yards.

    Things I would have changed:

The Scope is garbage. I immediately replaced it with a BSA Essential and got much better results. Umarex should consider selling the rifle without one. My overall rating would have been higher if a better scope was included.

    What others should know:

Cocking the rifle is a little rough, as can be expected with a rifle this size, after shooting a number of rounds your arms start to feel it.

    Things I liked:

I got the .22cal version and can't say enough good things about it. I've been looking for this EXACT gun, for years! They just hadn't made it yet! Quiet quiet quiet. If your anywhere near a surban area like I am, noise is your worst enemy....leads to unhappy discussions with the police. This thing pack's ton's of FPE and a very nominal report. Accuracy you ask? All day! This thing was a tack driver after about 50 shots.

    Things I would have changed:

I'm not going to say the trigger was horrific, but compared to everything else on the gun, its my only point of contention. I haven't gotten around to seeing if CDT makes a replacement, but thats my next stop.

    What others should know:

Cant do better for the money!!

    Things I liked:

There's been lots of nice surprises getting to know this rifle. I have several other air pistols, rifles and a good assortment of firearms for hunting and defense, but, needed something that would dispatch nuisance critters in a rural neighborhood quickly and quietly. Using that "Narrow Your Search:" tool on Pyramyd Air's web site is wonderful and the Umarex Octane was the ONLY rifle listed after using a search criteria of .22 cal, 3-medium loudness and a velocity of over 1200' fps. It looked like a great value under for $219, the pictures and description listed more features wanted for my purposes, (like peep sites, rifled break barrel and a composite stock), plus features considered a "luxury" for my needs but expected on rifles $600 and up. Kind of sounds too good to be true but it comes with a 3 year warranty and I knew the folks at Pyramyd Air would make it right if this thing wasn't "represented" truthfully. So, I added an assortment of .22 pellets to my "shopping cart", did a "check out" with PayPal that was so easy & painless it was scary. The confirmation email they sent gave me everything I needed to track my package with just a few clicks and it arrived exactly as estimated. I tried to slip outta work a little early to go play with my new toy but that didn't work out. My wife didn't express any sympathy or even feign a tiny bit of concern for my dilemma. What's up with that? I guess we'll see just how much I emotionally invest in her next order from Amazon, eh? The box everything came in was packed very well. Nothing damaged or scratched and the cats are still having "adventures" in the large box. There have been many nice surprises getting know this rifle. It feels solid, no rattles, the materials and craftsmanship are top shelf. Wasn't sure about the quality of the peep sites in the pictures but they're great. Fiber optic, three dot, two color, (red in the front, green in the back). The rear fine adjustment wheels for windage and elevation aren't sloppy and the clicks are firm with no play. Initially, I thought the front site could be a little flimsy but it's actually pretty solid. Granted, an iron site would hold up better in tall grass and thickets but a little extra care in the bush is well worth the superior target acquisition these things provide, I'm a fan. This rifle is accurate as well, pellets are surprisingly fast and hit the target really hard. So far, I've shot about 150 rounds of Gamo Hunter 15.43 gr. from my back deck at 50' and 93'. (can't get any longer distances in my yard), it was almost dead on out of the box and easily got it dialed-in in about 5 shots. Consistent bulls eye hits about the size of a nickel on these targets at 50 and 93 feet. The noise is minimal, I've asked my neighbors on ether side and nether heard our plinking. I haven't set up the chrony yet but this thing hits hard. The pellets completely penetrate 1/4" plywood and go deep into 3/4", (haven't tried 1/2" yet). Cocking the barrel takes effort but the stock has a nice feature. There's a "void" behind the pistol grip, kinda triangle shaped, and it's perfect for griping with your left hand while cocking with your right. Dunno if that was intentional when they designed it but it's handy and makes cocking much easier. It came with a scope and I "assumed" it was gonna be junk, but, I'm happy with everything like it is, without a scope it's perfect for my intended purpose. However, took the scope out of the box today and tinkered with it, (not mounted on the rifle), and the quality is much better than expected. The duplex reticle is a nice feature. The site picture is clear, sharp and surprisingly bright even in low light all the way to the outer limit. The rings are smooth and easy to bring views into focus at all powers. It feels solid and doesn't rattle anywhere. Basically, it looks and feels like a well made scope and appears to perform as well as any other scope I've got, (5 total), and paid much more for. Another nice surprise from Umarex.... I'll probably mount the scope someday, but, for now, the peep sites are working great!

    Things I would have changed:

    At that price? Nothing.

    What others should know:

Best value on the planet on my opinion. Fund something better? Please let me know.

    Things I liked:

I was impressed with the Octane for several reasons. It has perfect balance, not heavy like the Hatsan 125, nor is it lite like the Stoeger suppressor rifle. I credit this to the pistol grip/ thumb-hole stock. The gas-piston is a great addition over the spring power-plant. And lastly, the noise-dampening suppressor built into the rifle.

    Things I would have changed:

Absolutely nothing. Why mess with a good thing?

    What others should know:

Just like my Ruger air-magnum, this rifle is not a toy. This rifle is best for experienced air-gunners simply because of its power. This rifle will obliterate small game up to 20 yards, and is still lethal to pests way beyond that. Always be aware of your back-stop. Other than that it's alot of fun.

    Things I liked:

After the first shot it is very quiet. However the first shot surprised me. I was using Crosman Premier .22 lead hollow point pellets, and the first shot must have broken the sound barrier. At 75 ft. it will blow right through a 1X4 pine board, using Crosman premier hollow points.

    Things I would have changed:

It would be nice if it had strap points like the Benjamin XL1100 does.

    What others should know:

Recoil feels smoother than the Benjamin XL100. Also cocking seems easier as well. The automatic safety is cool, but it takes a little getting use to.

    Things I liked:

Powerful and accurate, the Octane holds a pattern the size of a quarter at 30 yards. Out of 20 shots, 1 made it through a 2x4.

    Things I would have changed:

The stock butt pad rubber was sticky, and should be thinner as the recoil is minor.

    What others should know:

Do not clean the barrel with cleaning pellets as they will get stuck in the silencer.
