    Things I liked:

It really is quality, well made and has some knock down power, it made it through two 1" phone books which were stacked up with an inch of space between and it made it 3/4" the way through a 2" phone book with dome shaped pellets, The accuracy is also great. it was able to get dead on shot groups at 75' with the regular sights and the scope is even more impressive

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing to change, It is a little loud for the first 50 rounds but it seems to quiet down and the cocking takes a bit of strength, an easy way is to put the stock on your foot and use your knee to open the barrel and push down on the middle of the barrel, it says not to use push down using using the silencer.

    What others should know:

It is great for target and varmint shooting and a great value and price for a quality air rifle , I highly recommend it

I think this rifle is tops all others in quality, looks and good shooting! By being heavier is has less recoil. I love to shoot this thing, I like the power it has, the good construction, the gun is solid! careful out there! Louie Vazquez in San Antonio,TX

    Things I would have changed:

    For the money..? nothing!

    What others should know:

Take some time to get to know this thing, and it will reward you. Umarex made some good improvements in this gun, is up to you to get the best of it! For instance, the trigger pull is smooth and easy. Louie Vazquez in San Antonio, TX

    Things I liked:

I love almost everything about this Umarex Octane .22 cal rifle. Definately built for power and accuracy. The weight is a bit heavy, but that makes this rifle what it is. A pure power house that will take down many varmints with a single shot. Coyote, fox, squirrels, the works. The break barrel is heavy to break for some smaller people and young kids. But this is not a gun for kids anyway. The scope is great for accuracy a long ways out. For over 100 yards I switch to a higher power scope just so my old eyes can see the target better. A lot of people talk about all the cleaning that has to be done when new as well as after each shooting session. I find that to not be true. As I have been told by a dealer, When you get it, all you have to do is shoot it and shoot it again and again. You get the idea... These need 1 to 2 drops of oil once every 2000 shots. That's it.

    Things I would have changed:

The one thing that I would change is the fiber optic front sight. I know it is not needed with a scope. However that front sight is very vulnerable too breaking because there is no protection for it. If you tap it on a small branch it will break without a doubt. We bought 2 of these rifles at the same time and we have had one of them break already.

    What others should know:

Do not buy these for your kids. If they are wanting a pellet rifle then get them one made for their skill set and age appropriate. I have seen several teens using rifles that are way too much for them to handle. Swinging them around like they are toys. Protect your family and others from immaturity. I can not stress this enough.

    Things I liked:

I may be new to the air rifle world but i do know a good shooting gun when i see it & my Octane is one of them accuracy is hole to hole after i got the scope zeroed next time i am gonna move it out to 25 yards & see if the accuracy is still there . I am using The GAMO MAGNUM .15.43 grns I will only be using the Poly Mags I ordered for Hunting & when i get ready to hunt.I will zero them in off i go .I have a range finder so i'll know that everything is being true . I LOVE My Umarex Octane 22 cal 100% happy & You will be also

    Things I would have changed:

By no means this is a defect i would have put the trigger safety some where else but it is where it is I. You will grow on you it's already second nature for me

    What others should know:

The Umarex Octane is a whopper of a gun & is very heavy & VERY hard to cock this is a hunting rifle . I guess you can plink with it buy you will tire quickly I am 285 lbs & it wears me down after a longer shooting lession But Tha'ts up to you. As far as recoil i haven't ever felt any recoil from my Octane as of yet it may later on but i really don't think so IMHO If you are looking for a good hunting 22 cal air rifle then look not further than > The Umarex Octane 22cal

    Things I liked:

NICE GUN. EXTREMELY ACCURATE, once you figure out how to hold it and find the pellet(s) it "likes".h&n barracuda match 4.52 and 4.51 .177 h&h hollow points , gamo ballistic also work well. At least with my gun. 1450 fps? ah nope. 800 average with 10.65 h&n domed(above) , 920 with the gamo. pellets now. a bit faster before 5000 pellets . yes 5000! at 42 yards , can cover groups with a nickle .bruiser to cock. stock scope is just for looks. put it on a daisy or crosman multi pump. this gun will eat it! ugt 6 to 24 56 mm scope has held up nicely and still zeroed , minor adjustment 1 to 3 clicks wind-age occasional.heavy!

    Things I would have changed:

globe protection front site. ok trigger could use some improvement , maybe get the power with pellets that you can use a bit higher like 950 to 1000 fps.Longer barrel by about 3 or 4 inches might do it.

    What others should know:

did i say it was heavy!!!oh and its ...HEAVY!!

    Things I liked:

Power and accuracy. Too loud in the beginning but it quieted down eventually to an acceptable level that is still on the loud side but not bad. Rail optic and good Fiber Optic sights =OPTIONS!

    Things I would have changed:

HARD TO COCK....I sawed off the shoulder stock and now its PISTOL GRIP ONLY. Now it is easy to cock / break barrel over knee then with trigger facing me I anchor the pistol grip at my hip and pull the barrel TWORD ME not to the side like before. Much handier size. I will use Irons or a red dot. the scope is good that comes with it but having magnification and eye relief slows it down compared to red dot or irons....my preference.

    What others should know:

PYRAMYD AIR has the best deal and this is the most gun for the money in my opinion. it is Accurate and will make one hole groups. goes thru an inch of duct seal and breaks the trash can lid steel behind it with a 25 grain H&N rabbit magnum.

    Rating 2.02.0 2.0

    Rating 1.01.0 1.0

    Things I liked:

The build quality appears solid, the trigger pull is heavy, maybe 5 lb. but with very little creep, and the location and operation of the safety is very ergonomic. Cocking force is high, but manageable, the scope appears to be of decent quality at least cosmetically with clear detentes on the adjustment dials. I really like that this gun comes with iron sights.

    Things I would have changed:

Accuracy is a big concern. In my garage at 25' after mounting the scope with lock tight on all of the threads I immediately got a sub 1" group, I'm elated! However, I would expect this gun to go out to at least 30 YDS and hold a 1" group. I have run well over 250 rounds so far, but at 30 YDS from a bench groups are getting bigger not smaller! Holes are punch clean so pellets don't appear to be tumbling. Using Crosman 0.177 7.9 gr Super Match, maybe I need a heavier pellet? Scope adjustments don't appear to have any effect, even when I move 24 clicks at a time! I'm accustomed to sub 1" groups at 100 YDS with any one of several 0.22LR's I own and was expecting this rifle would be good out to about 50 YDS. So far at 30 YDS I can reliably hit a Cape Buffalo, but the squirrels are laughing. I'm thinking I got a bad scope? Any advise on accuracy would be appreciated.

    What others should know:

This is a heavy rifle with no provision for attaching a sling. The trigger adjustment is not for break, only for take-up, not much help in my opinion. Accuracy is lacking so far, but other reviews of air rifles in general suggest that it takes 500-1000 rds to dial in? I will give it 500 to see if there is any improvement, but really? I suspect the internals of the scope are not robust and would recommend bench testing first with open sights at 25 YDS before mounting the scope. Maybe the lock up of the barrel is not consistent and the scope is useless? Either issue will be avoided using open sights to get an initial read on accuracy. I have no way to confirm that the scope is bad, but based on the lack of response to adjustments I'm leaning in that direction. I don't perceive much recoil, more than a mid-weight 22LR but much less than a standard 5.76. Shooting side by side with Remington 22LR the noise level is about the same, so it's not stealthy or accurate.

    Things I liked:

Quality construction, accurate, plenty of power.

    Things I would have changed:

Very heavy, requires a rest for real accuracy, not sure it can be manufactured lighter.

    What others should know:

I first purchased another brand of airgun, but after my initial inspection I could accept what some term barrel sag. I returned that airgun. I think that was due to a composite barrel with a metal sleeve not having the strength to being cocked in the manner needed. I inspected the Umarex first thing and did not find this condition. I feel the Umarex is manufactured to a higher standard.

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

This rifle is extremely accurate right out of the box. I mounted the Umarex scope and sighted it in. So far at short range, 10 yds, I am getting slightly ragged one hole groups, offhand. I can't wait to take it outside and put it through longer range testing with a chronograph. The gun does not seem to be finicky about how you hold it and does not exhibit the vibration associated with other magnum spring piston air rifles.

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger is heavy and stiff, but crisp. Even with a heavy pull weight the gun shoots consistently. I am looking into ways to lighten the pull now and will update if I can make it better. Cocking effort is high, but not uncomfortable, considering the power this gun is producing.

    What others should know:

For the price, this gun delivers excellent accuracy and power.

    Things I liked:

Power accuracy price trigger. The scope rail is very good and strong (see below)

    Things I would have changed:

The advertised velocity was a bit optimistic. With Crosman premier hp 14.3 gr I got 831 f/s. Mine was a .22. Nearly all of my airguns will not give the advertise velocity so I won't say this was deceptive.

    What others should know:

I had to use Burris posi-align offset rings to get it on paper. Once that was done it stayed on course. My scope is still holding up but others have not been so lucky.

    Things I would have changed:

It's a little long from trigger to butt of gun. Definitely would like a raised cheek piece.

Gun is solid built and shoots very accurate and VERY fast. Hard hitting for those who like to hunt with air rifles, It will easily knock a squirrel out at over 40 yards !

    Things I would have changed:

Stock design is so ugly and kind of heavy for hunting since it has no sling mounts or real easy place to tap for them !

    What others should know:

It likes Crossman premier hollow points real well, and predator pollymags work well also for hunting, H&N barracuda hunter extreme pellets are a little heavier but also shoot real well.

I really like this rifle . This thing sighting it is at 20 ft with the scope almost went through a 2x4 . I am using crossman .22 with the plastic red ends .

    Things I would have changed:

i would not change a thing on this .

    What others should know:

Now getting to sighting this in with a bore laser . don't do it . it has a plastic suppressor and using one that expands in the suppressor wont work . the best thing you can do is . mount the laser on the end of the suppressor with tape then use the iron sights to make sure its dead on the target . then mount the scope and sight it in . I have been reading reviews about the pellet isn't hitting its mark every time and the suppressor is the problem . If the rings inside move it will obstruct the barrel. This is a very powerful and accurate rifle for the money

The quality of this rifle is great! It is heavy to carry around but great for backyard plinking which is what I use it for. At 40-50 yards I can group about a 1 inch dia. pattern and it is very quite. Love it! I have saved a $$$$ on ammo since I got the gun.

    Things I liked:

Good power, though far less than rated; overall value; better-than-usual scope; quality appearance; fairly quiet.

    Things I would have changed:

Very heavy trigger pull, significant recoil, odd safety, heftier than needed, two-handed cocking effort, flimsy suppressor.

    What others should know:

I had high hopes for this beast, but after about 80 rounds, the guts of the suppressor flew out and they appeared to be low-rent. The Umarex video showed that the suppressor contained O-rings and had a different appearance, but no rings to be found and a series of thin plastic cones held in place by an insecure cap. I found the trigger pull excessively high--even higher than some reviewers noted. Trigger effort was so excessive that it made sighting-in very difficult and I could not get consistent groups. I could hold steady prior to pull, but not during...I often had to stop pulling to breathe. Recoil was more pronounced than a .22 rifle. As others have noted, after just a few shots, the rifle immediately became very quiet--so much so that I thought I had a misfire. Had no issues with the scope--magnification and adjustment were good. It took 12 patches to pre-clean the bore. Back she goes. I'm headed for a Hatsan 95 Vortex. I wanted to love her but she didn't love me back.

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger is terrible. Also, tried to shoot it last night...and nothing. This gun has probably only 50 rounds through it and the safety is broken, jammed or something. All I know is, I can't even ship it back for repair if it's charged, and eventually the gas piston will be dead. This gun is a real loser.

    What others should know:

    Yeah. Don't buy it.

Looks, feel, sound - and the Picatinny base. Trigger is pretty good.

    Things I would have changed:

Engineer it for such high shock (as much as possible for a break-barrel).

    What others should know:

Fought this beast for a year now. Multiple scopes, mounts, pellets, hold-try's. Now discovered that the thing is held together by Blue Loctite (that didn't hold). Critical problem is the bolt/screw at the break-barrel swivel point allows lateral (and vertical?) movement, even when cocked. And to tighten it, the action must be removed from the stock. And if attempted, be careful that the various slip-fit pins don't fall out of the trigger/safety group. Am now in process of last hope: disassembled and RED Loctite on those 3 attach/swivel points. Will gladly "eat crow" if this works. Ironically, my standard for comparison is my UmaRex "Fuel" .17. Really like this one.

    Rating 4.04.0 4.0

    Things I liked:

Excellent value for the money. Fit and finish are very nice. The 11mm to Weaver adapter is about the only somewhat crude part. It is pre-installed very securely. Stock trigger is metal. And now decent enough out of the box for most. Good power. I haven't chrony'd it yet but I am having to move my targets out further as I'm denting and beating them up at 30 yards. The .22 LR targets are the only ones not taking damage at that distance. Quiet. I haven't listened from a distance - but the loudest part of shooting it is the pellet thwack ringing against a steel target. No CO2 or pumping. While that goes without saying - I can always grab this or another springer for a midnight pest without having to worry about charge state. I list a LOT of things in "Things I would change" - but they're nits at this price range - and I do really like this rifle. In particular you will not have to continually remind yourself how little you paid for it.

    Things I would have changed:

Iron sights aren't very sturdy. The rear sight needs a vertical lock screw as elevation is just a screw against a spring and not a sturdy spring at that. I'm not a big fan of fiber optic for target. But who's using iron? The bundled scope is on only so-so. I would have rather that money off or an option. It does have a lot of adjustment. The scope rail isn't registered well and I needed a lot of windage to get the reticle on target. As it's securely tightened from the factory it's likely an issue with that adapter. The bore was filthy from the factory. I hear that's a systemic issue. But you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't clean it before shooting it. Might as well JB bore-paste polish it while you're at it. The chamber taper cut is a bit rough and doesn't appear quite centered.. I was thinking of cleaning it up on the lathe - but it's fairly deep as it is. I think a pellet seater is a must to get the pellet in the bore straight.

    What others should know:

Stock trigger is decent. It has newer and apparently hardened parts. I polished things up since I had it apart for the anticipated trigger job - but probably would have done well stock. The trigger adjustment screw also had a rounded tip (one of the tuning items) so it sound like they're listening. That said that screw was a pan head and also wasn't long enough for any further adjustment. Use a pellet seater to seat the pellet skirt just past the bevel and into the bore. Helps consistency. Pellet Pens rock as it is anyway. This will help you on any springer. Clean the barrel thoroughly - might as well get and use some JB Bore Paste and polish it up - it really works wonders - and now I've got a list of other air rifles to do the same to after seeing the results. Read ALL of the articles, particularly PA blog, on the Octane. You may find the trigger acceptable (enough) now for starters. Watch ALL of the YouTube videos on Artillery hold! It's counter intuitive - but very necessary!

    Things I liked:

Price point, decent enough scope. This is not a target shooter, but not bad for critter gittin'. I bought it specifically for the barn and haven't had a miss yet. Once you find the right pellets, you're in great shape. Just keep in mind whatever is behind your target - this is a powerful air gun and you'll find smaller critters like rats and squirrels will not stop a pellet. Whoopee!! I'm happy.

    Things I would have changed:

The trigger is total crap. Gravelly feel and looong travel. The adjustment screw for travel has a pan head that won't allow you to adjust the travel as much as you might like. The weight.... this is not the one you want to carry around all day. It creaks and squeaks when you cock it and for the first shots (maybe 30 to 40) it diesels to the point of sounding like a rimfire. Then it quiets down so much and so suddenly, you wonder what broke. So what's to change? A good gun for the money spent. (Ya gets what ya pays for)

    What others should know:

Great back door or utility gun. Have fun!

    Rating 5.05.0 5.0

    Things I liked:

Powerful, accurate, decent scope, Optic Fiber sights but at least you have sights on the rifle itself. So many do not come with anything but a scope mount. Dum Dum suckers at 20 yards and less are 1 shot sugary mess. While I'm sure this rifle could reach out much farther accurately, my max shooting distance in the garden is about 30yds. I use it mainly for varmint control and just for shooting fun in the backyard. Neighbors just think I'm shooting a BB gun, it's fairly quiet.

    Things I would have changed:

Trigger pull is a little heavy, but it was smooth. I polished the adjust screw on the trigger and it did lighten the pull to about half of what it was which is fine now. The skeletonized stock lacks a decent check rest, takes a bit to get use to, about a half inch higher would be more comfortable and an inch longer.

    What others should know:

So far the scope has done well, good in low light, held tight once a drop of loctite was added to the 2 thumb screws. (I probably will upgrade the scope later) As others have said don't use cleaning pellets, clean the rifle and check for loose screws often while breaking it in. So far everything has been fine. All the tags are tied to the rifle now, I did not have a tag in the the breech, O ring is fine. Overall I am pleased with the purchase.
