Description
Want the best pump made today? Then there's only one choice: The Air Venturi / Hill MK4.
According to airgun writer Tom Gaylord, Hill hand pumps are the best in the business. Each pump is easy to maintain, doesn't break down, and field stripping is a breeze. Tom says his Hill Pump is the only one that consistently worked--and he's owned a lot of pumps!
Each Mk4 extracts the maximum amount of air from each stroke, and more air equals less pumps! For a winning combination of value and reliability, choose the MK4.

Does the job!
Things I Would Have ChangedLonger hose.
The biggest plus for me, was the cost of this pump vs the cost of a compressor. I have just purchased my very first PCP Pellet gun, so being new to these guns, and on a fixed retirees budget, it was a good fit for me. The overall quality of the pump is evident as soon as you open the box. It just feels like it will last, it is way heavier than a normal bicycle pump.
Things I Would Have ChangedIf possible, I would like to see the effort it takes to pump the last 30 or 40 strokes reduced , even if it meant an additional 30 or 40 strokes to reach the higher pressures. Maybe an electric motor attachment as an option? I am 68 and It is a real workout to fill my rifle, but then once it is filled, I can then shoot with out pumping anything for a long time! That, I like!!
What Others Should KnowThe main thing is not to expect it to pump up your gun like you remember pumping up your bicycle tires, it looks just like a regular bicycle pump, but that is all, everything else is different, it is heavier, much harder to pump, and you do need to learn how to pause at the end of each stroke.
The cost is I believe reasonable for the convenience it offers, you can take it anywhere, And High pressure pumps are very expensive high tech pieces of equipment.
Nice and compact. Solid, robust construction
What Others Should KnowThe base model does not come with an air dryer. The next version of this same pump does have an air dryer accessory.
Seems to be a high quality pump. Fills my gun with reasonable effort.
Things I Would Have ChangedExpensive! Similar looking pumps were available for much less, but they all disappeared. It was either buy this one or have a useless gun! Did not come with the correct adapter to connect my charging probe. Adapter was also on backorder! Had to order adapter elsewhere. Had a hard time stopping leaks between the hose end and the probe, but finally got there.
Absolutely the best of the many pumps I've used.
Things I Would Have ChangedInclude the quick disconnect air nozzle like you do on the model with the air dryer.
What Others Should KnowSome have said the only difference between this and the model that comes with the air dryer is the actual air dryer. In fact this model also does not include the quick disconnect air hose end, which the air dryer model does. So that's another $20 you'll need to spend if you don't have one and don't have a 1/4" screw-in air nozzle.
It works. However my Benjamin and my Chinese version worked too...up to a point. This pump does have a good feel and hopefully will last a long time.
great pump .as with all pcp pumps ,they are not for the weak hearted . hill is the original ultra high pressure pump dont fall for the cheap off shore junk
Things I Would Have ChangedI think they should all come with the dry pack filter . the one I got did not have that system on it as its an option thats an extra 50 clams. There is no way on earth that thing should cost that much . If it was 20 bucks ,that would be a fair price...
What Others Should Knowby using the proper technique ,you should have zero problems with this pump . If you are handy with a lathe and a piece of 2 inch round delrin or aluminum ,you can make the adapter for the drypack and then go to harbor freight and get the drypack for 7bucks. thats what I did.
Seems to be made very well. It was very easy to assemble and there were no leaks with any of the fittings. Pressure gauge is easy to read.
Things I Would Have ChangedUsing plastic for the foot pad is not a deal breaker (reason for four star value rating) but making it somewhat "beefier" (thicker) would seem to keep pace with the rest of the quality of the pump. A movable arrow on the gauge would be useful for "targeting" you desired pressure at a glance. A simple Velcro strap included for use in keeping the hose in place when not is use would be a plus.
What Others Should KnowIt took me 286 pumps to fill my new Gauntlet from empty to 3K psi. My first 150 pumps were at 50 pump intervals with a short rest in between (for me) and to allow the pump to cool. Thereafter, I was using 25 pump intervals with a short (mmmm....actually a little longer) rest in between until I reached 3,000 psi. The pump performed flawlessly. This was my first experience with a PCP. I will likely gravitate towards the SCBA (not SCUBA) tank at some point but for now this pump serves my needs for air just fine. In the event I can be convinced that the air dryer is a necessity, I may add one later, but for now I'm not sure since it does not eliminate 100%. Feel free to comment...
nicely build, long hose, easier to pump than my previous brand.
Things I Would Have Changednone
What Others Should Knowyou need adapter if you use it for a benjamin brand

well made, simple maintenance and repair, great backup but get an air tank or an electric compressor for regular use
Things I Would Have Changedthe air filters should be permanently mounted and easily maintained, yes you should filter the air going in and coming out of the pump if you want your toys to last
What Others Should Knowkeep it clean and spend your time shooting instead of repairing
