This pistol does not have a Weaver base...it has an 11mm base. To mount that sight or any Weaver accessory, mount an 11mm-to-Weaver adapter on this gun's 11mm scope grooves. We have 2 listed on the ACCESSORIES link on this page. Then, you can select Weaver-based dot sights, which are also shown on the ACCESSORIES link.

Very nice fit and finish, just what I was expecting from Browning. Made in Turkey, it's been my experience that they make nice guns there. My brother has a 20 gauge semi made by as I recall Hatsan, very nice also. Anyway this Browning 800 Express works flawlessly, nice trigger. I haven't done any bench testing but off hand it seems to be as accurate as I am. I wanted a relatively powerful springer pistol and this fits the bill very well. We had a rat problem for a while after a nearby house got torn down and replaced. My hound dog was quite helpful in finding them and I was originally dispatching them with my Gamo Shadow 1250, ,but some of the shots were very hard to make with a rifle. The rats would crawl up inside equipment in the yard. So I decided to get this, sort of wanted one anyway. It has worked well and we are rat free once again! Cocking this without the "coking aid" can be done but is annoying to me, I just leave it on.

I use this with Predator Polymags, works great on rats and Blue Jays

I have the 22 cal version. Its the most powerful spring pistol out there! I have harvested rabbits and squirrels with it out to 25 yards.

The trigger is to heavy for my liking and non adjustable pulling at 4lbs. I have owned this pistol for 9 years now and was brave enough to take it apart a few days ago to try and lighten the trigger. The spring had to be removed to get the trigger housing out as there is a metal washer between the spring and spring cap. I polished up all three sears and reinstalled. It now brakes at 36 oz! No instructions or videos out there on how to do it so I winged it. Make sure to take some pics before you take it apart to help with reassembly...as I didn't. I would have also like to see the cocking aid Permanently Attached. Also the fiber optic front sight is fragile. It broke on mine. Umerex sent me a replacement one. Fiber optic sights are great till they brake. To me they need to figure out a better way to protect them.

I have dispatched several raccoon at very close range with predator pellets in trap lines. They need to be hit the eye or ear with that pellet or it will not penetrate the hide. A harder pellet like rockets or a pointed alloy pellet is in order. I have shot and put down squirrels and rabbits with predator and rocket pellets out to 20 plus yards with this pistol. Head shots are a must if you want to drop them. Rabbits have thinner hides so heart and lung shots are fine with any pellet imo. I get complete pass through on rabbits so imo it would make a good rabbit hunting pistol under 25 yards with the correct shot placement. Make sure to use loc tite red on your scope base. I had two UTG scope bases fly off with blue loc tite. I applied red and it hasn't moved ever since. I. Put a tasco PDP2 on mine for price shot placement. I still try and use something to rest on or against when firing this pistol to make sure I hit my exact mark when hunting. Shot placement is key.

the gun is very accurate , and heavy but you get used to it , and I found out not to hold the recoil part while shooting .

maybe if the recoil grasp were internal

its the most powerful gun if you check the specs on other similar models , cocking you need the extension that comes with it ,I think you'll be very happy with the gun ,I am.

This one is .22 cal and I love it. I've already shot over 2500 pellets. Works great. Very smooth and excellent trigger. Purchased a .177 cal in early 2013 and had three problems with it. At just over 1700 shots the internal workings jammed. Repaired, but at just under 4700 shots, the recoil spring broke. I replaced the spring and have had no further problems, with the exception of the rear sight. It broke at the hinge point, which I glued in place. I have a Red Dot Scope for it to shoot at longer ranges, but would like to get a rear sight replacement. I currently have a total of 6625 shots with it. I mostly use Crosman Premium Pellets, 10.5 and 14.3 respectfully, and they work quite well. They both are heavy to cock, but that's to be expected for the power output. The cocking aid is a must and I leave them on for shooting. For smoother cocking I add moly-lube to the outside surface of the lever just after the hinge-point. For the price they are an excellent purchase and a great gun.

The only thing I would be concerned about, is the recoil spring connecting points. I don't know why the one on the .177 cal broke, but it had also come loose a couple of times prior to braking.

Get in shape, if you expect to do much shooting with these power-houses. It's worth the effort. I don't shoot singled handed. I grip with two hands like I do for shouting my 1911 style guns. For consistent accuracy develop a consistent gripping hold; not too tight and not to loose. These spring powered pistols, even though they have a recoil buffer assembly inside, don't work as well with a restrictive hold. Plus, you will tire faster with a heavy grip.

Surprising how accurate this one is! Cocking extension furnished makes it easy for me to cock. it's very powerful for a pistol in .22 cal.

Absolutely nothing, but it's rather heavy for one handed shooting and may not be as accurate with only one hand.

The cocking effort is really not difficult for an adult. Try different pellets with it to see which one it likes best.
I'm using these.

I really like the look and feel of this pistol. It is easy to use and very accurate. Easy to load and the safety is easy to get used to v

I think the cocking extension is cheaply made and I am not sure if it will last.

I am on my second Browning 800 Mag. The first was a recalled one that was exchanged out for my present new pistol. I still have the first cocking assist extension. It seems to be a glass-filled thermoplastic. It fits as well as the brand new handle for its intended purpose - to cock the pistol. The cocking assist not only works on the Browning, but also the LP RWS pistol, by the way. In the end, the cocking assist outlasted the first pistol. Maybe that will allay your concern!

Worked fine until it broke while I was cocking it.

Poor-quality materials.

I wouldn't buy this. It broke, and it nearly broke my glasses.

very powerful air gun, nice feel a little heavy. The first time I shot it I heard it hit something far off to the right, I went and looked saw that the pellet had hit a little high and went off somewhere. S I decided not to shoot any more until I get the target holder and bullet trap.

a little longer cocking assist unit

This pistol shoots like a rifle very accurrate with Crossman 7.9 match pellets. These are only ones I tried so far. At 25 feet I can get 5 shot groups that a quarter will cover. As far as the cocking effort to me its negligible I am an average built guy 180 pounds and with barrel extension I can shot as many as I want have not wimped out yet and I usually shoot at least 50 per session I dont know about those who think this is so hard to cock- hit the gym.

Nothing you really could change because of what it is a high powered spring pistol by default it has to be big and bulky

I have a utg red dot/ green dot site I tighten it with a quarter holds poi just fine. Have 300 rounds through it so far so good

I have a Mag800 (the older version with the death defect or whatever), in .177 and being a homeowner I appreciate the pistol for powerfull attic and basement pest control. But I live in California and shoot lead free, and those pellets are super light. They make the pistol CLANK! when fired, apparently from the piston slamming home, and that makes it extra rough to shoot. So I'd like to briefly share a little modification. I read BB Pelletier's guides to spring tuning and such on the web and thought to try to either lighten the piston or reduce spring preload a little to "tune" the gun to the lighter weight pellets.

I opened up the gun and it is really cool inside! You can see how everything works and it is so simple, especially after I reassembled it wrong a few times. The piston is surprisingly heavy, must be ~250g, and there is also this "top-hat" metal slug in the front of the spring, inside the piston, that must weigh another 100g. So I cleaned and lightly greased everything and put it back together _without_ the top hat weight, which both makes the piston lighter and removes a couple centimeters of preload on the spring. It now cocks easier, I shoot it more accurately and it fires smoother, with a slightly twangy thwank! with 6.8, 6.5gr and 5.7gr pellets, and just a touch of that clank! again with the lightest 4.3gr pellets. I don't have a chrony, but my guess of the time of flight to target makes me think the pellets are not much slower than before the spring tune; say it was 750 fps before, it must now be at least 650.

I would not recommend this mod if you shoot lead pellets. But if your warranty has expired, you shoot the tin pellets and you want to risk life and limb for a smoother gun, try this: Make sure the gun is uncocked, unscrew stock (3 screws), clamp the gun the long way somehow so the spring doesn't fly out, tap the rear pin out, ease back on the clamp to unload the spring, remove rear cap, spring guide and this big washer thingie, ease out the spring and front spring guide/top hat weight, then reassemble by putting in a washer the diameter of the spring, then the spring, then the rear spring guide/washer/end cap, compress it all and get the pin back in (it will be easier as there is now less preload), screw the stock back on and test it!
