Description

H&N is renowned for making some of the most accurate and affordable airgun ammo on the market. They produce a large variety of weights, styles, calibers, and shapes for multiple applications.

These HP (High Performance) Slugs come in many different weights to provide expanded distances without surrendering accuracy or striking power. With a hollowpoint design, they have a higher ballistic coefficient for greater speeds and better energy retention before impact, plus improved expansion on target.

The swaged design means each slug is more consistent in shape and weight and gives dependable performance. Shooters will get longer range and more accuracy than they thought possible with these H&N Slug HPs.

I tried these slugs in a Kral Puncher Breaker and a Benjamin Marauder. Neither of these rifles liked this slug. Ended up returning the extra tins I ordered for JSB Match Diabolo Exact King .25 Cal, 25.39 Grains, Domed -- both rifles were dead-on with 1/2" groups at 20 yards with the JSBs. In testing, the H&Ns flew all over the place, until I determined they were shooting low compared to the JSBs -- 36gr compared to 25.39gr -- over a 10gr difference. Compensating with a scope, I was able to group out the H&Ns by raising aim and grouping that way; however, consistency is what I was looking for, and most of the .25 cal ammunition is in pellet form and closer to the weight of 25.39gr -- therefore I chose to go with pellets rather than slugs.

I believe the problem lies at the back end of the slug - it is almost a flat surface, rather than a deeper indentation like a normal pellet. The JSBs are a pellet rather than a slug, and that appears to be the deciding factor in performance.

Check your owner's manual for recommended ammunition before purchasing these for a .25 cal pellet gun.

Very accurate in the Impact MK-II with standard superior liner. 700mm barrel length. Have some mods installed including slug power kit. Im shooting these around 950fps, 140bar on the regulator. The HN .249 36gr also shoot well in my gun. These are slightly tighter groups and shoot a little bit slower. I had one slug out of 5 tins that was severely deformed. The rest of them are consistent in size and weight.

Not much hope price comes down a bit would love to make these my primary ammo for pesting and hunting.

I calculated the G1 BC at .088. About a 6mrad drop at 150 yards. Something else I noticed is the .249 HN are shiny like a Nielsen. These are darker and covered in a powder like the other HN slugs I bought.

That is because they are oxidized from being old. Perhaps it is from overseas travel and not sealed well? I have noticed this as well and they do not shoot as well as the shiny ones do out of my power modded Bt65 Elite. Random flyers and groups are a little larger. I am shooting these around 984 and they punch really hard! The 28 grain are too hot and shoot better towards the lower speed spectrum of the Marauder territory. My Mrod loves the light ones at around 815 fps.
