Description

If you like the light weight and configuration of a pistol but prefer the steady hold you get from a rifle, then the Hatsan AT P2 precharged pneumatic pistol is the perfect setup.

You can shoot this airgun with or without the shoulder stock. The stock telescopes almost 4 inches (25.2" to 29.10"), and the comb is vertically adjustable. This will come in handy if you plan to share this air gun with others, such as younger or smaller shooters.

Hatsan barrels have earned a reputation as being quite accurate, and this pistol is no exception. If you plan to shoot targets, tin cans and spinners most of the time, .177 caliber would be your best choice. However, if pest control and hunting are a large part of the reason you're getting this air pistol, select either .22 or .25 caliber.

Accuracy Solid construction Removable stock that also has a great deal of configuration flexibility Multishot Picatinny AND dovetail rails Inexpensive magazines and additional airtubes

Pay more attention to details! The barrel itself is of great quality, but the crowning job was just done in haste. I was able to recrown the barrel using professional (but expensive) tools in 10 minutes. The accuracy improved quite a bit. Also, most parts were not lubed. You can extend the longevity of this gun by properly selecting and applying lubricants to various parts of the gun. I know the gun has a 1/2x20 UNF barrel, which is great. However, for those of us who want to stay legal and not have a loud gun, Hatsan should consider a version that has a non-removable factory installed shroud. But keep the 1/2x20 UNF threading option available to those who are more, well, adventurous.

This gun is heavy as a pistol, but it balances well. As a carbine, it is actually quite light and also well balanced at the same time.

To maximize accuracy, use a magnified sight. I was doing okay at 10 yards using a 2-MOA red dot, but at 25 yards, using a magnified scope dramatically improved accuracy.

There are lots of mods one can do to this gun. Most, if not all, of these mods will void the warranty. However, these mods can change muzzle energy (tune up or down) and improve the overall efficiency of the gun. My .177 is now shooting at 11 FPE and good for 20 shots with a low extreme spread. That's not bad for a little 50cc air cylinder!

Also, the shoulder stock may be both difficult to put in and wiggle at the same time. Put a little bit of Gorilla tape on the stock side, then use a little bit of grease on the pistol side. Mine now slides in with ease and yet with no wiggle from that joint.

The dovetail of this gun does NOT work with BKL rings.

Just adding to my review. The air cylinder developed leak. Oh, no, most people may think. As it turns out, it was a easy fix. However, fix this only if warranty has expired or you don't care about that. If you are mechanically inclined, Hatsan guns are fairly easy to work with. You will need a good snap ring plier to remove a snap ring to get to the check valve and inspect its o-ring. What I found in the process was that one of the O-ring was missing (not installed), and all the parts were not lubricated as far as I could see. You have to give credit to Hatsan engineers for making a gun that is easily serviceable. However, manufacturing gets a 2-star rating for being sloppy!

Fit and finish were as good as I expected.

I wish some manufacturer made a powerful (600+ FPS with 25 grain lead pellet).25 caliber air pistol that was smaller, even if it was only a single shot pistol.

The connection between the female air input to the pistol and the male output from the air tank leaked badly. I was not able to overcome the leak and returned the pistol.

I initially thought there was an issue with the probe or cylinder in my Hatsan rifle because it leaked air when I tried to fill it with a pump. You need to make sure you tighten all of the pieces on the fill hose with a wrench. Just making it tight by hand isn't enough. I was using a quick disconnect adapter with the Hatsan BSPP fill probe and I used 2 wrenches pulled in opposite directions to tighten the fittings enough for it to work. If there is still an issue, then use some plumbers tape on the threads but I didn't need it. For anyone new to PCP's, try tightening the fittings properly before wasting all your spare O rings for your probe or sending it back. The manual doesn't explain this very well.

AirgunNewbie Apr 27, 2015

If the airtube had no pressure to begin with, you have to remove it from the gun before charging with high pressure air. This is not a flaw of the gun because the hammer is pushed against the air valve stem, and therefore releasing air as you try to charge the airtube.

The feel of this gun is amazing. The grips are very comfortable. The gun is really accurate, I put a Leapers UTG 3-9x32 CQB Bug Buster Rifle Scope on it and had is sighted in with 4 shots and 15 yards. The cocking action is fun to do because it is different than most guns, the clips are also nice and easy to reload. The gun is a little heavy but I'm putting it in the pro column because the weight is well balanced and feels right.

Like everything I ever read about this gun before getting it, it is LOUD. I knew it was one of the louder guns but everything else out shines this fact. I did try to shoot it in my backyard to sight it in, thank goodness it only took 4 rounds to sight in because every shot made me cringe. The weaver rings that I bought for the gun didnt seem to work, they just didnt fit, so I switched to 11mm dove tail and it worked just fine. This gun does leak some air when left sitting for days, not too much but some. The air filling could have been set up better, the air tube needs to have a direct connect to the pump.

Overall I purchased this air gun knowing that it was going to be too loud for backyard shooting, which it is, but I enjoy it enough to take it places to shoot, and have transformed my garage into an indoor shooting range, 10 yards, to shoot this gun. So overall it is a great gun to add to my collection, just wish I could shoot it more.

ATP2 .25 cal. Looks, size, function, cool factor, and love those grips. It feels like they were custom made for my hands. Never realized grips could feel so good. I also have the Super Tack .22 and it has very nice grips w/thumb rest and finger grooves. Very comfortable but doesn't hold a candle to the P2 grips. Set it up w/UTG 3x9x32 Bug Buster scope w/QD rings and a Barska Reflex red dot. Very accurate w/Bug Buster. Can shoot the tops off of water bottles @25yds and put 5 shots in a 1" ring. Good for me. Took out 4 birds in under 30 sec. Could probably use a more powerful scope but size of the BB scope goes w/size of the gun. It looks cool and everything including scope, 2" sunshade, red dot, air stripper all fit nicely in the supplied hard case. With the red dot on it feels like a sub machine gun. Very fast target acquisition. Did the 10/4/10 test. It shoot JSB exact kings at avg 630/fps. Not the 710/fps they advertise. but that's ok it took out a dove size bird at 75ft w/body shot. It just fell over dead. I like the safety on it, Very easy to flick off. Like the feel of the gold trigger. Very Happy with this gun.

Shroud the barrel. This thing is loud. Not backyard friendly. Thanks for threading the barrel though It would be nice if they put mag storage on the gun like the BT-65 Elite. Its real nice to have it there and handy. Sling swivels ?

Mine leaks air. About 50 bar over night. They were supposed to check for that w/10/4/10 but whatever. I should send it back but I like it to much. Still have a week to decide. Stock is kinda hard to remove w/o tools to poke the button down with unless you have a long hard thumb nail like I do. Super tact same way. 3 mags will go from 200 bar down to 50 bar on this gun. Will sink a pellet about 3/4" into a 2x4. With a well place shot I think it will take out rabbit size game at 30-40 yds
Maybe further.

Just wanted to add that although I don't own this pistol, I do own three different .25 caliber Hatsan rifles and stock they all shoot slightly over Hatsan's claimed velocities using Hatsan .25 pellets, at 19.9 grains. They are lead pellets but are the lightest .25 caliber pellets I've come across.

Leaks are very common with these guns. Re-lubricating of the valve seat o-ring and/or polishing of the valve stem usually will fix the problem. Mine doesn't leak anymore

I have the Hatsan AT44 tac rifle. This pistol looks very similar to it. It's like a bullpup version. I think I'm going to get one based on your review. It seems like both reviews have common problems of leaking air. I love the rifle one. It's the best I think of all my guns even compared to Talon, AA, Evanix just to mention a few. Because it's so rugged and easy to use. I think I'll get the .22 and because I find the rifle very reliable and well built I'll go buy this pistol. I'm not a pistol fun at all, but this good of a product, I can't pass this one.

I ordered an extra cylinder. When I vent after filling it always drops to 150 psi. The original cylinder and gun don't leak at all after several days. I'm going to exchange the cylinder

JH Sep 13, 2013

Same exact observation with mine re air leakage and pressure drop with three mags. Seems like a design flaw. wished I had returned mine - don't have the perk with the grips, quite the opposite.
