Hatsan Galatian PCP Air Rifle, Black

Gator Proof -- Wow! You've really had a tough time with your gun. That's not something that usually happens with a Hatsan PCP. I'm glad Hatsan is taking good care of you. No one wants to use their warranty, but it's nice to know that the company stands behind their rifles and will resolve issues.

Part 2. Hatsan sent me an old style gun tank which is shorter and their hope of curing my problem. No luck, then they sent me new breech seals and trying the shorter gun tank and new seals I was able to increase fpe to 27pfe. Still very far below specs. I have 4 Hatsans: 125 th .25 matches fact. Specs. At44×10 in .22 matches F.Specs. BT65 Elite exceeds F. Specs. Galation even with new breech seals still near 40% weaker then F. Specs. At 100 yards my AT44W-10 in.22 as well at BT54 .25 both pass thru 1" plywoow backing. Galation IV can't even fully sink pellet. The 125 break barrel .25 will hit 100y board but buries pellet about same depth. (It short 750fps 24.5 fpe) so any suggestions would be so helpful. Hatsan says send it in again and if they can't cure they will replace. So at least you guys, Hatsan will take care of you. I am not over joyed I got a lemon over 50 yards because that is why I bought it. But in the end I believe Hatsan will stand behind me. But wish it worked now.

I am directing this toward Ms Edith because she has been so helpful to Hatsan owners. Rick Eustler has been a prince as well, I have had, before sending my Galation into Hatsan USA, some unbelievably accurate targets. Like 13 round .25 one hole group at 25 yards of one ragged hole .270 ctc with out to outside .446 (again 13 shot group)? I have target saved in log book as proof. I have actually nailed those plastic colored push thumb tack with a single shot twice in a row quitting because rain was starting. Then things went "South".Power as high of .39.05 JSB 25.4g. That was May 25h. After receiving back from warranty my power had dropped to a low 25.39fps. Hatsan is excellent at matching or exceeding their published factory published specs. The Galation lV, my model is rated at 44fpe, but mine down to 25.39 at my figures a 41.20% below published factory FPE. Hatsan was unable to repair the hammer smushing the air cylinder valve nut. They are great company for CS. See next p

Edith, you are still a peach, or should I say, a Georiga peach ( I hear they are the best). I sent the gun to Hatsan USA, they replaced the trigger along with other things. They were puzzled by why my air cylinder nut was being smushed by the hammer, even though the gun shoots great. They sent it back with a free air cylinder for the future. They air cylinder they sent was an old style without the nut. Hatsan warranty just keeps improving. Thanks to you and Rick from Airgunweb. BTW, because of your efforts on behalf of air gunners, Hatsan USA have changed the old warranty rules on trigger adjustments. We all thank you for that. Be Well.

Gator Proof: Adjusting a trigger too light can make it go off even if the safety is on. This is not unique to this rifle, but not all guns have that response to a very light trigger.

Thank you Edith, That is great news. Here is a puzzle for you and B.B. Last night I had my Galation on a sling, with muzzle up with the safety on. It fired a pellet in the ceiling as I was in the middle of the kitchen. I immediately checked the safety and it was IN THE LOCKED OUT POSITION.? So any idea why? I had adjusted afjusted the trigger a couple weeks back. I had it so light that it fired upon the flipping the safety off. With that said, I reset the trigger to a perfect place for my style of shooting. I have not had any problems since then. But that misfire event is a puzzle to me. Help?

Gator Proof--The president of Hatsan USA has written me back and said they will change the statement on their website. Adjusting their 2-stage trigger as recommended by them will not void their warranty.

Gator Proof--I looked at HatsanUSA's website, and you are correct. I've emailed the president of HatsanUSA and brought this to his attention. Such statements discourage buyers and don't allow people to enjoy the gun as the mfr originally intended. I'll let you know what he says.

DO NOT MODIFY YOUR AIR RIFLE CAUTION – The components of your airgun were engineered and manufactured to deliver optimum performance. Any modification or tampering with your airgun may cause a malfunction and will VOID THE MANUFACTURER’S LIMITED WARRANTY. Any change in performance such as a lowered trigger pull, force, and shortened trigger travel indicates a possible modification, tampering, and wear which VOIDS THE MANUFACTURER’S LIMITED WARRANTY. Such airgun should be inspected, replaced, or properly repaired by only qualified HatsanUSA personne. Thanks Edith, Good to know the proper names of the rifle nomenclature. This is on the Hatsan Warranty section that I read to mean concerning trigger adjustments. You can see why a person might get confused. "

Gator Proof--The barrel cap is not the crown. It covers the crown. The crown is what's finished on the end (muzzle) of the steel barrel itself. Also, the trigger is adjustable, Hatsan made it to be adjustable and they expect customers to adjust it. It does not void their warranty to adjust a part the manufacturer made to be adjusted. Now, if you "adjust" it in a way they don't recommend -- such as stoning the sear, replacing parts or doing something other than what they recommend in their manual -- THEN you'll have voided the warranty. Just want to be sure people don't avoid making manufacturer-approved adjustments that could enhance the enjoyment of shooting.

Jeffery, Try unscrewing your front barrel cap, I think they are called a crown. Once you remove that cap, lube site up and I think you will find that the front sight will slide off. If you are not happy with how tight your groups are, order an Air Stripper. They really work at factory setting. However, mark it, and then you can slide the brass cone to suit your distance needs. I believe you will find that both AA 25.4grain and JSB 25.4 grain are the only 2 pellets you will ever need with this gun. When you hit the 1, 000 pellet mark I think you might find your Galation is reborn. You may then wish to tweak your trigger. One thing to check before your warranty is expired is this. Unscrew your air cylinder and check you nut and screw that hold down the black washer. If you see any damage to the nut, call for a RMA. PS, Don't tell Hatsan if you adjusted your trigger. The way I read the warranty language is trigger adjustments are cause to void your warrenty.
