Description
Built specifically with airgunners in mind, the Hawke Airmax 30 SF Compact 3-12x40 AMX IR is equipped to handle the ballistic traits unique to air-propelled projectiles. Be it a heavy, lead pellet; alloy rounds - even air bolts - Hawke’s Airmax riflescope series is a product of the same rigorous engineering and manufacturing standards that characterize the Hawke Sport Optics’ entire optics lineup.
This riflescope’s AMX IR glass etched reticle is based on common 10x Mil-Dot spacing and offers multiple aim points. This is especially useful when shooting airguns with parabolic trajectories. Half Mil-Dot spacing on the lower post provides more aim points for long shots. The horizontal bars are calculated at 0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 and 4.5 mil spacing. Hollow posts are segmented into mil spacing and may be used for bracketing.
If you’re in the market for a high-quality, reliable, versatile optic for your air rifle, look no further than Hawke’s Airmax line of riflescopes.

4 of 4 Hawke 3-12x40 Airmax 30 Compact Reviews
The compactness of the scope ,look and site picture are absolutely magnificent
Things I Would Have ChangedThe cost of the scope is a bit to much
What Others Should KnowIf your looking for a compact scope to put on your gun this scope would be a awesome choice
This scope is the perfect size for my FX Wildcat. Bullpup rifles are compact for a reason and putting on a standard size scope defeats the bullpup's small design. Under the turret caps are excellent drums (Pyramyd should really include a picture of them) with precise markings and a stationary centering post mark so you know how much adjustment you have dialed in. I have less expensive Hawke scopes I also love but the reticle on this one is so much more sharp and fine. The turret caps spin off quickly unlike other scopes that take forever to remove. The 40mm objective appears every bit as bright as my 50mm Hawkes. The side-focus is so much more usable than objective focus. I can side-focus while looking through the scope unlike my objective focus scopes. The drums have a positive "click" and after using them to center different pellets I observed they make precise and consistent reticle adjustments.
Things I Would Have ChangedMaybe smaller turret drums. Current ones are outstanding in usability and accuracy but seem more appropriate for large target scopes than a compact scope.
What Others Should KnowHawke support team is excellent with super fast assistance. Get yourself a $35 Wheeler Firearms Accurizing Torque Wrench for use in mounting all scopes. Because of the compact design of this scope the amount of tube, forward and aft, of the turrets available for ring placement is very limited. If you are using this scope on a PCP (low or no recoil) consider using single strap rings. You need to keep the forward ring at least 1/2" away from the turret (I traded several emails with Hawke support to resolve an issue.) I had my front ring very close to the turret and tightened it a bit too much. This caused the side-focus gears to be pinched and not operate properly. I had already purchased BKL double-strap rings so I moved them as far from turret as possible and only tightened the forward top strap, of the forward ring, to 15 inch pounds. The rearward top strap, of the forward ring, I torqued to 10 inch pounds. The scope works great now and I love side-focus. I have included pictures.
This scope has the heavy duty built and good glass for this price range that's for sure.Glass etched reticle is sharp I like it in black more than the illuminated one but it can be useful in different situation.
Things I Would Have ChangedFor this price range and quality scope it should come with at least some kind of good plastic or rubber flip-up scope covers instead of double rubber bands one which most people will not use.
What Others Should KnowSince this is a compact scope and short eye relief I have a little problem with eye relief when mount on my FX Wildcat in .22 cal.even I mounted it all the way back.So I remounted the scope rail backward and it looks good.

purchased thru affirm from P.A. with hawke offset mounts. ordered thurs. morn and it came sat. @ 12:00 noon..wow...! this scope took 50 mins. to mount and level up. i won't use the focus wheel for fear of damaging it. the objective lens adjustment is dead on in terms of distance and parallax. the lighted reticle is a real gas however i haven't had a chance to give a rabbit a lead ear plug lol
Things I Would Have ChangedNOTHING
What Others Should Knowthe illumination wheel is quite hard to turn so i rotate it clockwise only to turn the lite on or off
