Reticle ain't bad, elevation clicks

Windage knob, durability and $$ Should change the name to rimfiremax - it might hold up to one.

Put this on a R1 windage came loose at 200rds and at 400 the eyebell came loose and had to be spun in 2+ turns to tighten - now it's offset by 90 degrees.
They will replace it but it will not go back on an air rifle - save your $$ til you
can afford better quality - my first review and it has to be a bad one.

Thanks for being honest about the scope breaking. After reading hundreds of reviews on airgun scopes I'm inclined to believe that none of them are sure things as far as durability goes. Maybe the high end scopes are better but none of the low to mid price scopes sold at PA have a great review history in regard to holding up on high powered springers like the RWS 48, etc. Seems like a crap shoot to me

Holds zero on RWS 52. First full size scope to hold up so far. Over 200 rounds fired to date.

None.

None.

Good info on durability but do potential buyers a favor and tell us there is no turret cover for the elevation knob and no way to lock the adjustment dial. Can be moved very easily when using a sling, putting in a gun case, etc. Zero would change and you wouldn't know it. No problem if sitting at a bench punching holes in paper but no good for hunting. Water, dust, etc not good on uncovered turret. Focus adjust can't be locked.

I am wondering if this review is from the Steven above who said the scope broke after 200 rounds on a R1. Like I said on an earlier comment there seems to be no ryme or reason to scopes breaking or not breaking.

The quality of construction seems on par and I like the fact that it is lighter than most 3-9x40mm's. I also like the reticle design and free software that you get online.

Better optical quality is needed for this scope. The parallax adjustment is very stiff and no matter how I adjusted mine it was never a sharp image. I was very disappointed in this scope since I paid double over a Leaper's version. I will not buy another Hawke scope again.

I have owned several Leaper's scopes that were bought for half the price and had better optical quality and a more responsive parallax adjustment both in feel and focus. Bottom line...I'm not impressed.

One reviewer willl praise this scope for the very points this reviewer doesn't like. Makes one wonder if the quality control is all over the place on all these airgun scopes. No consensus on any of them no matter what brand.

This is one fine scope! I have it mounted on an RWS 460 Magnun .177 and it's doing a great job. Optics are clear as a bell edge to edge. Variable magnification is precise and easy to use. The map reticle is great for changing distances while hunting. One of the best features is that Hawke gives you a downloadable balistics calculator that works for air rifles through centerfire rifles up to and including slug shotguns and crossbows. It has held up very well to the heavy recoil of the 460 Magnum by the way. Great scope

Like the review before mine, just a bit more eye relief would be helpful

If you are serious about hunting with an air rifle, get this scope. If you just want to punch holes in paper, get this scope. Well worth the money

Terry Mar 14, 2011

It would sure help to know how many shots the scope has survived on the 460 magnum. If 500 or more it would seem to be a winner.

I like everything about the scope..........the quality is excellent . I have Leupold , Nikon , & Weaver scopes , and this scope is just as sharp & clear , especially using the AO . Solid , accurate click adjustments . Very good Warranty from Hawke . The MAP 6 Reticle is easy to get used to .

Add about 1 / 2 inch to the eye relief .

Excellent airgun scope for the serious target shooter , or airgun hunter . Would also work extremely well on a .22 Rimfire or a .270 Deer Rifle .

Terry Mar 20, 2011

Quality of optics fits the price but nowhere close to Leupold, Burris, Nikon. Lacks the overall brightness and clarity of high end scopes. Big problem is no cover for elevation turret and dial cannot be locked so zero can be changed very easily without knowing. Question wisdom of allowing water, dust, etc access to turret. Scopes have covers on dials for a reason.

Terry Mar 14, 2011

Most airgun scopes I have used, a Gamo and an RWS, have too much eye relief and you can't push them forward enough without hitting the scope mounts.
