10 of 12 Leapers UTG True Hunter 3-9x50 Reviews
Just OK, low end scope
Things I Would Have Changedthe rings don't work on most air rifles, thick wire reticle
What Others Should KnowI got this scope with a combo deal. Changed this scope out and put something else on almost immediately. This scope has a wire reticle that is very thick, OK if your just shooting cans. If you want pellet on pellet accuracy, don't buy this, get etched glass.
Great visibility and I LOVE the illuminated mildot. I also really like how you can lock in your sights so you don't accidentally bump it and mess your sighting up
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing at all
What Others Should KnowAdds a lot of weight to your gun
This is my first UTG Scope, I will buy another. Have this mounted on a .22 Benjamin-Crosman Titian. About two hundred shots so far, no issues at all. Great clear image. Lighted reticle is a nice touch targeting in shadowed or dark background places. The large lens gathers in a nice image. Purchase to shoot nutsucker , house , car wiring chewing squirrels in the heavily wooded areas around my home. Still getting used to being able to focus and zoom in and out.
Things I Would Have ChangedMore options for mounting. Had to purchase Leapers Accushot 1" Rings, High,... to mount to my 11mm dove tail. Cannot use the 3in sun shade on my break barrel due to interference from the barrel pivot.
What Others Should KnowThis has a large diameter lens, high mount rings are a must.
That I have 2 UTG's on my hunter extreme (The original one/.177) that shoots 1650 ft/s that also packs plenty of power and is very heavy on recoil. My gun eats up cheap scopes. Example : The RWS 4x12x50 scope. The hunter extremes recoil was too heavy for the RWS 4x12x50 so the RWS resulted in being no good. I got rid of it. So I went with the old leapers 3x9x50. I had no problems with it. But when leapers changed to UTG, Immediately I went to the UTG true hunter AO scope and they are unbelievable and are awesome! I have no problems with the UTG true hunger scopes. I am very satisfied. To me, they're the best scopes out there for my air rifles that can take torcher and stand up to heavy recoil. And also, I have a socom extreme that shoots 1650 ft/s. I have a 3x9x50 "AO true hunter scope" on my socom extreme. I am very satisfied with both of the scopes on both of my air rifles because the socom extreme and hunter extreme .177 has very serious recoil.
Things I Would Have ChangedI wouldn't change anything.
What Others Should KnowYes. When you purchase the UTG mounts for the 3x9x50 scopes. And get them from PY (6336). That is the model for the UTG mounts.
the zero locking feature, scope clarity........everything.
Things I Would Have Changedadd caps to windage and elevation turrets.
What Others Should KnowIMO this is a great scope. The first day of sighting this scope in which didnt take long at all, I was getting good tight groups. The scope developed a chip, crack or fracture on one of the internal lenses. I am sending scope back to get a replacement of the same scope. I gave the scope an all star rating because the quality and the value of the scope are there. The only thing i find agitating is that I really enjoy shooting and now I'll have to wait until after the new year. If there is a problem with the replacement scope I will voice my opinion here.
Lets start with the illumination at the press of a button you can have red or green illumination, ease of use, it came with a flip open caps and a sunshade, which i probably will not use ( prefer the flip caps). Clarity is great compared to the other cheaper scopes i have used. I have not been able to shoot with it on the rifle yet. It just seems like a great scope.
Things I Would Have ChangedI dont like see thru rings but it is necessary, allow the flip cap to be a better fit on the sunshade, the cap is molded to lock in place without the sun shade (just make the sunshade with the ribs so it can securely usable).
What Others Should KnowI had to reinstall the battery a few times for it to work(nothing wrong just a tight fit). I had a little bit of difficulty setting the eye relief it took me about an hour to get it comfortable for me. When i finally got it set which seems to be very finicky about placement, I have to look through it at the same place every time in order to get an unobstructed view not a bad thing i suppose it will be more accurate, not sure how to describe the "bubble thing" in the sight picture this was the difficulty i had. IMO the scope is gonna prove to be a great asset.
Great scope crystal clear
Things I Would Have Changedparallel focus not real precise
What Others Should Knowgreat value for the money
I thought the quality of the scope was excellent. I was surprised to get this much quality for the price. This is my first scope and I have really enjoyed learning how to use it. I did not use the mounting rings supplied with the scope as they used a thumb screw to attach to the rifle. The rings I used have two allen screws each. It is a great addition to my Diana 34 premium rifle.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
Nice and clear. Quick zeroing the scope.
Things I Would Have ChangedCross hairs pretty small.
What Others Should KnowI may have to play with the focus a little, eye site isn't like it use to be.

the 50 mm lense has great light gathering qualities for my girls not so good eye sight. the magnification was a great help for longer yardages and the mil-dot format was excellent for her learning where to hold over and under. the $$ value was right in our range and still getting a high quality product.
Things I Would Have Changednothing
What Others Should Knowvery easy to work with and mount. zero's in very quickly...........
