The magazine on mine broke the same way. I contacted Umarex and they had me send it for a replacement. This took awhile due to Corona virus, but there was no charge. I am very careful now not to let the magazine follower slip an hit the top.

You are always best to buy directly from PA for their warranty program. Their customer service is gold. A better Model 1911A1 is the KWC Umerax Combat vet, NRA, John Wayne or WW II commemorative. All of these are collector versions of the same pistol. If you want a less expensive version of the same thing, then get the Tanfoglio Witness or the Remington RAC. Excellent shooters. All are trusted dependable BB pistols and use the same magazine. The magazine has a metal hold tab, not plastic. A special hold down, loading tool can be made with a coat hanger wire. You can get as many spare mags as you want. I keep one spare in each box on my collector specials. Nothing beats the Tanfogilo as a parts source (its parts fit all the other pistols) or for an outstanding BB shooter that is basically the same as a military 1911 feel. You can not beat PA's price & warranty.
