The Seneca Wing Shot .50 caliber precharged pneumatic (PCP) bolt-action shotgun offers airgun hunters the versatility of choosing either .50 caliber shotshells or bullets. I have had two of these, the first was returned to Pyramid due to total leak- down of the pressure system. This was after only a few shots were fired through it. Pyramid sent me a replacement and it failed in exactly the same way as the first, except this one lasted a few months longer. As shipping return costs are prohibitive for me I will tear thisone down to find the problem. I suspect poor quality o rings as the one at the back of the loading port is loose and oversized. For a $750 gun this is just not acceptable.

Things I Would Have Changed

Better attention to detail and parts installation. Having two units fail indicates a systemic problem. The cocking lever is weak and should be replaced.

Very useful, I have been seriously considering this gun but I'm already fed up and fit to be tied with much touted scopes claiming to be particularly built to withstand the effects of magnum break barrel recoil. I don't need any more battles over poor quality control.

Latest partial tear-down (didn't have to go far to find this problem) showed that the O-ring in the pressure gauge assembly was faulty. Loose and way too thin. Replaced with a better quality O-ring, it has now held pressure for three weeks. Looking at these O-rings I have absolutely no confidence in the OEM units. Pyramid told me they replaced my original gun with a new one, although I did notice scratches on the end of the air tube when I got it. It is what it is. Apart from the O-ring issue it is a nice piece of kit - but ruined by cheap rubber.

Fired 6 shots through it yesterday then recharged to 2900 lbs as per manufacturer's specs. Put the gun back in the gun rack. This morning, some 15 hours later, I heard the sound of air escaping from the gun. A quick examination indicated that the air is not coming from the O ring I replaced yesterday, but from the area of the pressure gauge. Not impressed would be a vast understatement. Pyramyd should stop selling these guns until the O ring issue is addressed in every unit.

After getting all the necessary parts together I tried to strip down this gun today. After all, it was merely a boat anchor, so I couldn't harm it. Took off the inlet air fitting, then the double circle that holds the air tube to the barrel. Examined the two O rings under there, they looked good but I replaced them anyway as I had it apart. Re-assembled and tried to air it up. Exactly the same problem. Started taking it apart again and noticed that everything was coming off together and that a secondary part of the air tube was unscrewing. Again, WTH, took it all out. Voila, there was my problem. There is a third O ring in that assembly and it was totally pooched. Replaced that ring, put it back together and it is now aired up to 2900 lbs. As this is the second gun that this has happened to (exactly the same symptoms) I can only conclude that the O ring in that position was faulty, as was the previous one. Next, a few shots through it and a recharge to see if it is fixed.
