8 of 8 SIG Sauer P226 X-Five .177 CO2 Pistol, Silver/Wood Grips Reviews
Wieght and feel, adjustable rear sight
Things I Would Have ChangedThe grips
What Others Should KnowThis is a fun gun! But a pain to reload. You can get two good clips, the third starts to weaken. Had a problem with jamming, after some filing on the feed mechanism and using good quality steel BBs it shoots well. And accurate. I have the p226 pellet pistol also, but it does not even come close to this gun in all aspects
The look of it. The weight. The Cool factor. I wanted to replace the plastic grips with wood od rubber, but the replacement grips cost more than the airgun.
Things I Would Have ChangedBetter gas mangement. I consistently get 3 magazines per cartridge. It's okay, but I always hope I can get more BB's per cartidge of CO2
What Others Should KnowOrtedr the black mag, and get rid of the maxwell. Extra weight, for no advantage.
I love the weight, finish and accuracy with this Pistol !! The finish look's very nice, I don't know if it's Stainless Steel or what but it is a great looking Pistol, Hot with the woodtone grips. It is very accurate once you sight in rear sight it did shoot low for me.
Things I Would Have ChangedReally nothing to change but if I did it would be nice with real wood grips ??
What Others Should KnowThis Pistol is the same as the Black 226 X five besides the Magazine, but no white dot on front sight. But it shoots very accurate once you adjust the rear sight. Dead on at 20 feet sitting in a chair. You can use the same Magazines from the Black Gun as well. The first thing I did was field stip it and lube up part's it was bone dry and I like my guns Maintained ( just me ). The blowback is nice and crisp and is a delight to shoot it. GET ONE TODAY YOU WON'T BE SORRY !!! Great buy for the money and you save a lot shooting bb's. Other's have said their Magazine leaked, I put Pellgun Oil in magazine and on c02, not 1 problem with it. The two 226 X Fives I have are my favorite go to Pistol's very accurate so if you go with either one you will be happy with it (no doubt).
I have many replica pistols, this ranks in the top 5, mainly because of feel (Very realistic weight and look), power (Nice kick with the blowback), and accuracy due to the adjustable sights). I found the movement to be excellent, high precision for an airgun (2 inch group at 25 ft), great sights and nice finish, I swapped out the simulated wood grips with black grips from another Sig P226 airgun and it looks terrific. If you use a generous drop of pellgun oil on the co2 cartridge, it seems to get better economy on air, 3 clips vs. 2 clips on 1 co2 cartridge. Accurate will all types of bb's I find ASG blaster produce best accuracy.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing, the perfect co2 gun, perhaps unless it had say rubberized grips. Hope they come out with extra silver magazines to purchase.
What Others Should KnowGet extra magazines, both types work and if you add more drops of CO2 to a leaking magazine, it typically solves the problem of any leaking.
Five years ago I purchased the Sig Sauer P226 X-Five pistol with the all black finish and was very impressed. Now I have this new Sig Sauer P226 X-Five pistol with the silver metallic finish and faux wood grips and am still very impressed. This new P226 X-Five is a remarkable improvement over the earlier version. I'm not sure if the gun is stainless steel or an alloy finished to look like stainless steel, but it's a very well done and attractive appearance. I really like the appearance of the faux wood grips against the silver metallic finish. All of the standard functions are still functional in this version. The opening of the magazine well is flared which helps to make the magazine insertion easier. The best of the new features is the fully adjustable rear sight. Once sighted in, I was hitting the point of aim without using any hold over or hold under as is often necessary with fixed sights.
Things I Would Have ChangedI would like to see white dots on the front and rear sights. Apart from that I wouldn't change anything else on the pistol. With respect to the magazine, the follower can be locked down, but BBs have to loaded through the top. If you want to load the BBs in the slot just above the follower, you have to hold the follower down all the way against a very strong spring. An alternate loading port would be an improvement. Although the original black magazines work in the pistol, I would also like to see additional silver finish magazines available as an accessory.
What Others Should KnowAccuracy is reasonable for a blowback BB pistol with 10 shot group sizes in the 1" to 3" range depending on the BB and the skill of the shooter. I did 10 shot groups on several different BBs at 18 feet distance to target from a bench rested position. For these BBs I shot three separate 10 shot groups: Copperhead (1.375", 1.500", 1.875"), Umarex (1.875", 2.438", 2.750"), and Daisy Premium (0.875", 1.188", 1.313"). For these BBs I shot just one 10 shot group each: Avanti (2.063"), Black Diamond (1.063"), Smart Shot (2.063"), and Marksman (1.438"). I used each of three brands of CO2 in these shot tests. Total shot counts were 55 using Crosman CO2, 45 using Umarex CO2, and 48 using Swiss Arms CO2. Like the earlier version, this P226 X-Five Silver has a very strong blowback which does reduce the shot count. I did not observe or hear any evidence of CO2 leakage from any of the three magazines (1 silver, 2 black).
I really enjoyed this replica good fit and finish pretty close to the real thing I buy these for fun and proficiency hand eye coordination and pure enjoyment anything else I suggest get the real thing and spend money on ammo.
Things I Would Have ChangedMake grips in rubber and have more mags.
What Others Should KnowThe weight of this pistol is very close to the real thing, and the co2 is good for about three good mags I was able to register up to 352 fps in my crony which is more than advertised you definitly need to add this one to your collection
About the most realistic replica, for approximation of an actual pistol. Fully functioning controls , adjustable sights
Things I Would Have ChangedThe standard mag leaked like a sieve . Luckily ordered the spare flat bottom mag . I actually prefer this one. On a remodel I would suggest that Pyramid tests the first batch for leaks , free.
What Others Should KnowSights come regulated around3 -4 inches low . Needs a lot of dialing in . Once regulated a pretty accurate pistol .. Actually Chrony results around 350 fps .Us a gas guzzler, get around 3 mags per co2. Worth it for the realism

It is to soon to say. I sent this gun back because the slide lock failed. Even so, the idea that the POE could be adjusted, and with accessory capability, made me willing to try another gun. It has a great trigger and it shot well for me. It looks good too. But I did not rate this gun---I cant't yet. If it fails again, the slide stop makes the gun a bad choice.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe slide lock bent forward in use and failed for that reason. If the metal was out of spec to stop the slide without damage---ok. This gun is bigger than the black P226 version. The slide is heavy on this gun. It may need the lever arrangement like the Colt Commander for strength. I fear that the design it has is not strong enough. A flat piece of metal bent to shape is very demanding on the strength of that metal. It showed poor spring quality, the reason I think it failed. If that is soft iron and not tempered metal, it will fail again.
What Others Should KnowIt is a very desirable gun. It is fun to shoot and was accurate with a very good POA result once adjusted.
