This is a nice and compact CO2 revolver. I bought it for my wife, and that she likes it makes it 5 stars in that case. However, there are some issues future buyers should know.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe first issue is that mine arrived with scuffs on the barrel. They are light, but they have no reason to be there. Since I paid 60 more dollars for this gold one, it's actually inexcusable that the premium gold finish should be marked whatsoever. The second issue with this one that the speedloader is impossble to use for the reason that the grip on the gun doesn't allow the speedloader's body to align properly with the cylinder. Issue #3 is that the cylinder is difficult to lock back into the frame as it moves and hits the inner barrel when locking in place. Issue #4 is that the safety/cylinder release is quite tough to use, and for a girl even more so.
What Others Should KnowThe Dan Wesson 2.5" gold revolver is not a good value for the money. In fact, in the case of the design issues stated above, it's a poor value for the price. The design flaws coupled with the scuffs on the piece I received forces me to give this a 1 star for value. Pyramid, I'm not pleased with this one.
Some other observations: Does it crack off nicely? Yes, without question this one cracks with a nice pop. I like that. Does it have some power? Yes, again, it's got power. I've not tested the accuracy at this point, but I can tell from some of the quick tests the accuracy is probably ok.
If I were to keep this one for myself, I would get the 6" version of it. For the premium price for the gold finish, this gun isn't worth it at all. Since it's for my wife and for some fun, my price sensitivity is not as narrow. For her I'll spend some extra on the bling factor (of course, assuming I'd have received a perfectly finished gun).
My Rating:
Overall rating: 3 Stars for the reason that I can't give it 2.5 which is what it should have. The good points of the gun don't outweigh the design flaws.
Value for money: 1 Star. That this gun is 60% more money than its silver/black variants it is not worth it. My rating doesn't take into consideration the appearance flaw on my particular piece.
Last words: If you're getting it for your girl, I recommend it, but know you're going to spend some money!
