Springfield Armory XDM 4.5", .177 cal. CO2 Blowback, Black with Holster 2 Person Kit
When released in 2007, the Springfield Armory XDM redefined what a polymer pistol should be. With a laundry list of intriguing features and ergonomic enhancements, the XDM set a new standard that has influenced polymer pistols ever since. After years of waiting, this Springfield Armory icon has made it to the airgun world!
Bearing all of the standard markings and trademarks you would find on the real steel XDM, the airgun replica has no shortage of features. Picking up this replica XDM is likely to make you question whether or not you're holding the real thing. Every detail of the firearm has been transferred over to this air pistol, including the grip safety, ambi mag release, striker status indicator, slide stop, trigger safety and even the takedown lever! The 20 round, drop free magazine has a heft that feels good in the hand. Install a single 12-gram CO2 cartridge, load up your BBs and blast away!
The full blowback action of the slide with each pull of the trigger is strong, providing a realistic recoil sensation that is sure to get your attention. And once you've fired your last BB from the magazine, the slide locks back, letting you know it's time for a reload. Firing steel BBs at speeds up to 325 fps and achieving 70 shots per CO2 cartridge, the XDM is bound to provide hours of airgun enjoyment. Kit includes right-hand Springfield Armory XDM holster.

Things I liked: A home run if you are looking for a: 1. Practice gun/trainer gun that works like the real thing. 2. Want to shoot in your basement or backyard instead of traveling to range & save on ammo costs ... frangible BB's cost $10 for 1,500 vs about $500 to $600 for similar at Midway or Palmetto at the moment. 3. Accuracy ... this is on par with my Springfields I own and shoot. 4. Looking for something similar to laser trainers or Coolfire, but less $. 5. Fun. I was hoping for something close to the real thing, but I am shocked at the high quality, realism, and feel!! I own a Springfield 9mm XDM and 10mm XDM. They feel, handle, and weigh the same. Dimensions are almost exactly the same. Trigger pull is very similar. In my hand, just holding ... I can't tell a difference! I was surprised the paddle holster is as good as it is. Rubber backing formed on the paddle is to keep it from slipping. My gun easily holsters and releases very smoothly and quickly. Medusa is target is high quality.
Things I would have changed: Our limited BB gun mindset and some better marketing from Pyramyd Air, Springfield, and Air Venturi. If I had known these would work this well, I would have started years ago. With frangible or lead BB's, this thing is a blast. They don't bounce back like the steel ones (steel BB's have their place, just have to be careful). I was discouraged years ago with a Red Rider and some near misses with my kids faces from ricochets. I thought that only CO2 guns would be fun and safe, would be with pellets ... I am eating my words. The frangible BB's bust apart and the lead BB's deform and stay put. That said, the instructions do not discuss or show the pistol takedown (that I am aware), but it's just like the real thing. There are videos and reviews to help with that if needed. It would be nice if the slide had the ability to mount an optic like the Sig M17 CO2 pellet pistol. Include instructions that 1 drop of pellgun oil on CO2 cartridge is preferred for good seal and internal lubrication.
What others should know: I purchased the kit and found the accuracy to be just like the real thing. Rapid firing my 9 or 10mm at 10 yards results in a 2-3" group that can grow if punching the trigger quickly. This shoots the same. That's very good for smoothbore pistols shooting BB's not perfectly cylindrical (like the frangible BB's) and push air, not cut air like rifled slugs do. Now, don't hope for hole in hole ... I am not sure even a Kimber or Tangfoglio can do that all the time. Have reasonable expectations ... my pistols shot very well, if not better than expected. The blowback is significantly real, and reminds you of the real thing. It may be louder than you expect and more powerful. I placed a Shoot-N-C target at 7 yards on the bottom of a Circulon pan, and the frangible BB's did bust, but dented the bottom significantly. Be careful! Found loading from top down made BB's stack evenly and feed better. Be careful with black tab. I used mech pencil, easier to hold spring while loading.
