I've fired more than 500 pellets through my QB Chief II Plus-s .177 before writing this review. I've had no leak issues so far. I turned the hammer adjuster down (CCW) 1 turn from factory setting. Starting from a 2700psi fill, shooting JSB Diablo Exact 8.44gr pellets, I get ~55 shots as the fill pressure drops to 1000psi. The muzzle velocity drops monotonically from 973 down to 765 fps. Trigger pull out of the box was gritty and stiff at 4.2 lbs. After about 250 shots, I disassembled the action from the stock and adjusted the trigger to a short pre-travel and 2.25lbs pull. As others have noted, cocking the bolt was initially very stiff, but seemed to get lighter after decreasing the hammer adjuster and smoother with more use. I don't use the open sights, so no comments on their efficacy. Scoped accuracy is good enough to snipe dandelion tops at 25 yds. I'm satisfied with this gun for an under $200 starter PCP.

Please offer this 3000psi QB Chief version in a nice wood stock. It's name is QB Chief II Plus-s. Is there a Plus-w(ood) version about to be released?

I was sent a chief II plus. Manual, gauge, and box all agree it's a 3000 psi gun! Accurate, powerful, way better than expected...truly an excellent value.

Change the ad to reflect it's a plus model with 3k psi not 2k

Little heavy but comfortable....hard to cock at first but getting easier!

trigger works well, shoots everything I stuff through her. Somewhat lighter pellets work best with mine. came with two mags.

Wish a sling came with it. But, for the price? Nothing. Also, I should have brought a scope with it. Maybe PA can add a bundle that includes it in the future?

Bolt sticks a little when charging it to the rear. Plan on taking mine down and cleaning. Think this will fix the problem. Also, for shooting 50+ yards recommend a scope, My old eyes and their sights don't work well together :) Furthermore, the chief ll and commander mags are different could not swap. Was hoping they were interchangeable.

Mine came with the hammer spring maxed out. This not only makes cocking effort so difficult it slips and double loads because it did not cock but it did feed. Then you have to cock again and lock the bolt back to remove the magazine to clear the double load. Also this setup gives a total power shot curve like a big bore. First shot is 25 ft lbs in 22 and deminishes rapidly with each shot from there. I had to back off the hammer spring to its lowest point before I got a bell curve that gave me 30 + consistent shots. this brings the power into 15 to 16 ft lbs level.

Tremendous value for the money spent, very powerful gun in 177 cal. Shooting 15gr NSA slugs at a greatly tuned down 775fps for 35 plus shots from 3000 psi down to 2000 psi. This 177 cal gun with slugs because of its power is truly a long range monster. If shooting pellets use JSB Monsters and then go from there, IMHO any pellet less than 13 grains is doing a disservice to this gun. Gun has a tunable trigger, power adjuster at the back and a moderator ------- you get a lot for your money ! I might also add this gun is built like a brick house ... I have a few of this same gun after buying the first one !!

Wish it was a bit easier to cock and had a removable moderator.

Take this gun and turn down the hammer power spring till you get the velocity your after and work on your bell curve --- also be sure you have a chronograph, it is an essential part of air-gunning

accuracy, not very pellet sensitive. used three types of pellets and the inexpensive crosman premier hollow points shoot the best; about a dime grouping at 20 yards. easy charge. great overall value. Is fairly quiet.

bolt a little stiff until used a while, took about 100 shots and now smooth

great value. trigger is very easy to adjust and now about a 2 lb pull and I shortened the creep. My first time adjusting a trigger and very easy.

The stock shape fit and finish. High power and over all look of the rifle. Unbelievable price and value for your money.

The magazine is wide so it will take long pellets or slugs. Out of the box the power is a lot greater than advertised and the hammer spring is adjustable. I chronyed

I like it's stock, feel really smooth and looks great. 178 is worth it. The best gun you can get in this price.

The trigger are so sharp.....I had to smooth it out with sand paper and the spring feel when you put it. Also the bolt, emmmm also needs to sand it out. And maybe a bigger suppresser cause it doesn't do much at this size.

If you only have 200 dollar this the one you want to get, the problem I list doesn't really matter to me (very easy to fix) and people keep compare it to maxximan, I mean....they are not even the same price, plus maxx is single shot action but chief has magazines.... ....

The price is excellent. It is very accurate using the iron sights. Its more powerful than advertised. The trigger and hammer spring are adjustable. Mine is shooting 14.3 grain Crosman pellets at over 900 fps ,right out of the box!!! The 10 round magazine feeds well. (two come with the gun, plus two single shot trays) At $178 I am extremely satisfied. I doubt that price will be forever, buy it!

I would enlarge the stocks thumb cutout above the safety( or move it back) to make it easier to disengage with the forefinger. Not a deal breaker. It works fine and can be operated silently.

It is not as short as the description states. This is an error on the Beeman website also. It is 42.5 inches long., about the same length as my Maximus. I think, at $178.00 , it is the best deal out there. I am feeling really good about buying it!
I may have to bump everything up to five stars once I put a scope on and bench rest it. One thing to note for older folks or smaller ones using a hand pump, it is a 3000 psi rifle. Expect to work up a sweat for that extra thousand psi. ( the exercise will do you some good)

Ordered 2 . Will get back to yall with results . Had to give it ratings to get thru this review. I will give accurate stars and comments when I've got scopes on them and have them grouping. My hunch is if there's enough quality these will be great .
