It's a fun gun but its harder to cock then it should be. Not easy for children and it's very easy to pinch yourself. Bought to teach how to shoot but its not the best for that purpose. Good for adults who can handle the cocking pressure.

Has a nice feel to it. Fun little gun once you get one working right. Decent trigger.

Quality control on these is very spotty. The first one I received shot several inches to the left even after adjusting the rear sight as far right as possible, and was very hard to load pellets. Pyramid promptly replaced it, but the new one came with the rear sight screw completely out, and the nut that hold it in place loose inside the receiver. It shot one time, then would not compress air. I figured I had nothing to loose, so I disassembled it, and removed the valve, which had a lot of gunk in it, cleaned out all the factory lube and replaced it with a better lube, reassembled and it hasn't acted up since. The barrel on this one is perfect. I installed a Hawke Red Dot with 11 mm mount, and at 10 meters off a rest it will shoot great groups using 7.33 JSB pellets. RWS Basic wadcutters also do well, but are a little more difficult to load.

You really must clean the barrels on this as soon as you get it. There was a lot of junk/rust in both the ones I received. You have to be very careful cocking these or you will pinch you skit or catch you clothes between the grip frame and upper assembly. If you like tinkering with things like this there are a lot of tips and tricks to make these work better. Just a shame they come from the factory with so many problems.

This is the 3rd p17 I've owned and none functioned properly. First one, purchased elsewhere, wouldn't hold pressure. Second, bought from pyramid, did the same. Took at least three pumps to get any pressure. They sent a replacement and the screw hole for the rear sights didn't have any threads. Pick another pellet gun, not this one!

For the money, you won't find better than this. Things that are great: - this gun is accurate - I left the heft and grip, and how central the center of gravity is over the grip - for a gun of any price point, trigger is very good - a very quiet report - I love a love / hate relationship with the sights; I love how visible they are - it is a great gun to shoot, but a terrible gun to reload....

To reload...this gun is pretty difficult to cycle / pump and finding the barrel to insert a pellet can be difficult - the sights don't always respond to adjustment - you turn the screws and sometimes nothing happens; a hard push from your thumb may be needed to actually get them to move. Also, I think the directions in the manual as to that happens to point of impact is backwards,

This gun is about $50, and for that price it is a great bargain. Not suitable for kids for how hard it is to cock and load. However, it is a great gun for backyard plinking.

Very nice ergonomics. Hefty but not heavy, solid, no rattle. Came at 415 FPS on 7 grain pellets. Quiet and almost perfectly recoilless. Open sight is easy to adjust, even with your fingernails. Cocking it is a good workout! Haha. Dove rails too. All in all, very good backyard fun! And hits very hard, so be careful!

I don't know how, but it would be great to be able to cock it without worrying about pinching your fingers. While it's a hard cock, I'd do it with more power if I was worried about getting pinched. Loading the pellets is a bit hard, since the breech end of the barrel is in a tight spot. Not very easy to see what you're doing, but you get used to it with practice.

According to the manual, the cocking effort is 28 lbs. It's definitely not the worst, but worrying about pinching yourself and small lever make it tricky. I struggled a bit hitting a 3 cm target at about 6 meters, though I feel inclined to blame these cheap pellets for it rather than the P17. Maybe getting more used to it will help, too.

Seems to be pretty pellet picky

I've seen some people with these that shoot pretty well, the pistol I received is pretty picky and won't group well past 10 yards. At this price point I still highly recommend this for close range practice.

What a fun gun! Accurate, great trigger, perfect weight and balance. I understand why so many folks really love this gun. For the price, even twice the price, this gun is a bargain.

I dislike the auto-safety. Annoying and unnecessary.

It is surprising how much oomph it takes to cock. Doable, but not for the ladies or kids. And loading it takes some practice.

The trigger is superb, it’s also fairly accurate, but the Crosman 1377 holds an advantage for me, perhaps because I’ve been shooting them for over 20 years. It’s a lot lighter and more compact than other pistols I’ve shot with comparable accuracy. The price is really nice too, even these days. I bought it for shots at around 10 yards at mice and other pests, so far it works really well with hollow points.

I have big hands/ fingers and it took a long time to be able to somewhat proficiently load pellets. Also, watch a video on how to work the pump, or you could get a painful pinch.

The loading method is very different, and takes time to get used to, but it’s definitely not a deal breaker.

factory quality control

i know its an inexpensive pistol, but,
i have purchased 5 and 2 had to be returned because there was a seal problem right out of package. pyramid was great and replaced, but its still annoying.

The price per smile, for a little plinker for a noob. Bought this to teach my nephew some gun handling skills with. Before moving on to other bigger guns.

There are some things that would make this better, but for the price. Its a really nice little pellet pistol.

Great value for the money.

I LOVE this gun! No recoil, the trigger is AMAZING!!! You can stack pellets with it at 10 yards! I bought 4 guns for me and my family we shoot tournaments, outta the 4, this gun is by FAR my favorite! It's NOT pellet picky either... Not a fan of auto safety's, but that'll be removed, so not an issue... Also shoots darts really accurately! The ONLY downside to this gun is power, which I already knew, and power wasn't an issue at paper anyway... It "will" bounce off cardboard at 15 yards lol... Won't even dent or scratch a pellet tin at 10 yards... But that don't bother me at all, I bought it as a 10 yard target/competition/paper puncher and it does that with perfection!!! I'd have NO issue shooting this gun against the Air Venturi V10 ANY DAY!!! Iffen your pondering on a target 10 yard target gun, this IS one you need to pull the trigger on buying! Iffen someone handed it to me and I shot it, and they said it was a $200 gun, I'd have still bought it, it's that nice, and it's $45 LOL!!!!

Auto safety sucks, but would be a good thing for kids shooting...

The best part NO Co2's, NO recoil, NO HPA air!!! I have went the about 600 pellets in a week lol!!!

The only thing I would like is that I could load the pellets easier and they weren’t made out of polymer

when they work they are great . accurate great trigger plenty of power for paper and can destruction. and great price.

4 out of 6 have some sort of seal issue. after sitting for 24 + hours they have to be pumped 3 to 6 times before they will catch air and pump. after that they are fine.

i have returned 1 and will probably return 2 more because of seal issue and inconsistent accuracy.
definitely a quality issue on factories part but pyramid customer service has been great and replaced very quickly.

Accurate, good balance, nice sights and superb trigger.

I don't even know how many pellet pistols I own and they range from $100 blowbacks to a few hundred dollar PCP and this is the smoothest most accurate pistol when you shoot it there is zero feedback from the gun no recoil no vibrations no anything just the sound of the air pop pellet release in and you're still exactly where elimed it you can literally put pellets through the same hole at 10:15 ft away the iron sights are amazing this is definitely no doubt about it probably not the most powerful gun for stopping power but it is the most accurate I'm sure it will kill small rodents no problem but to me this is one you set up in the yard and try to see how accurate you can truly get with just plain iron sights I see some people putting Optics on it I don't recommend that because of the top stroke mechanism other than that I like the whole gun and that's my favorite and most accurate of the bunch

It would be nice but it's not necessary the gun is perfect the way it is but it would be awesome if there was a way to install aftermarket competition style grips like the wooden ones because as I said Up Above This Gun is ready to compete out the box and I would love to have competition handles I wouldn't compete but it would feel like I was shooting a $1,000 or $1,500 competition gun I've never used one of those but I'm sure this one shoots just as accurate maybe not but that's it but the way it comes is perfect the grips are perfect usually I have a hard time I have smaller hands and this is fine and it will be cool to have accessories like a shoulder stock and stuff to turn it into like a backpack carbine that would be the perfect little table top setup

Only thing I can say is this gun is phenomenal and no matter what you like shooting in the air gun World pick one of these up because the smoothness and the way it fires I can't even really explain it how smooth and accurate it is and how well made for the price it all performs like I said 90% of my airgun pistol collection and a lot of the rifles too and accuracy as far as stopping power that's what it lacks but that's not what it's made for I would just say that if you got the extra money you definitely need to pick this up it's phenomenal

I like the velocity from the single stroke pneumatic; the accuracy is great; it's not very loud - just a little crack. I think the pellet tearing through a can makes is louder. The trigger is smooth with a light pull.

I think the rear sight can use some improvement. It's possible to push it down and it not pop back up to the original position. It's like it slide down on the screw and get caught on the way back up. Now when I cock it I make sure I don't put my hand by the sight.

After just a few shots loading a pellet was not an issue and I wear XL gloves. If you have an issue with loading try rounded or pointed pellets.

my first one was not very accurate and blew a seal after 3 days and 200 rounds.
pyramid had a replacement to me in less than a week. chronied at 425-430 and super accurate

Excellent accuracy and trigger pull Sights are excellent

Scallop out the rear-end of the top frame to allow a pellet pen to insert the pellet directly into the barrel. Some method of reducing the cocking pressure on closing!

Using a two-hand hold, very accurate at 50'. Even with my "old eyes", the sights allow for quick target acquisition. The trigger is smooth and light.

The grip is a bit too large. Needs some texture too. Finger groves don't help. I would like to see about eight ounces less weight. Cocking effort seems excessive. This limits me to five shots before I start shaking.
