    Things I liked:

The title for this review actually should have read Overdue For Prime Time”. However, I cannot call the Sortie a ‘prime time’ product at this time. I do love the airgun. Hatsan is one of my favorite product producers. I own 4 of their long guns They are a bit heavy but are top performers. The Sortie would fit very well into this family. It is comfortable in the hand, fires pellets with high fpe, is very well made and is pretty accurate at short range. As others have said, the semi-automatic function punches out pellets as fast as you can pull the trigger. Then comes the rub.

    Things I would have changed:

I could not cock this airgun. In order to insert a loaded magazine, the shooter must be able to pull the slide lever back beyond its normal range and up into the parked’ position. I could not manage this feet, although I have no trouble with my Umarex Gauntlet, a notoriously hard airgun to cock. The sortie that I received stops at the edge of the ‘parking notch’ and would not pull back further so that the lever could be pulled back into the ‘parked’ position without using mechanical assistance to accomplish the last quarter inch of travel.

    What others should know:

This should be a five star review, since I think the Sortie will be a top performer if my particular Sorties problem with cocking turns out to be a one-of-a-kind defect. I will not know that until PA finishes its evaluation of my returned product. I may, indeed, be the only ‘weakling’ who is not strong enough to cock this airgun. However, I have noted a few similar reports on the airgun blogs about the Sortie. I will happily update my review when I know if this issue is a one-off or is systemic. Meanwhile, consider this review ‘preliminary’.
As an additional note, I purchased my Sortie on Pyramid Air’s eBay store page because PA was out of stock at the time, as were most other vendors. The purchase and follow up was flawless. I would not hesitate to buy from their eBay store in the future.

    Things I liked:

    Shot count and accuracy

    Things I would have changed:

    Better iron sights

    What others should know:

Exceeded my expectations. Very easy to fill with a hand pump. 30+ usable shots with mine, in .25. Good knock down power for a pcp pistol. I found H&N field target trophy pellets @ 20 grain to be the most accurate and hard hitting, due to the lower velocity, compared to other pcp rifles. It drops small-medium size pests right in their tracks. I mounted a reflex sight on mine, and it does the trick.

    Things I liked:

    semi auto functioned well

    Things I would have changed:

would like the cocking bolt on the left side of the gun so i can maintain palm weld on my trigger hand, maybe a positive click on inserting the magazine so get feedback that it's in right.

    What others should know:

fired the 25g h&n slugs no problems as fast as i could squeeze the trigger. one thing make sure you fire empty the magazine or gun as you could double load pellets into the gun if you switch mags in the middle.

    Things I liked:

    Very accurate once I dialed in ..at 40 feet 12 of 15 into a beer can..no misfires.with over 500 pellets fired...... .177 model...very pleased

    Things I would have changed:

Nothing really..but am going to invest in an electric pump..the hand pump is too much exercise..and 15 shots will drain it

    What others should know:

For me, works best at the lowest setting for the shoulder brace.. pistol only...too heavy for accuracy

    Things I liked:

It is a lot of fun to shoot when it works.

    Things I would have changed:

Make the gun dependable. My first one stopped cycling after about 50 shots. I had to manually push the bolt forward in order to fire. I promptly sent it back and Pyramid was great with shipping a new one out to me. The second one sat around for a little while, maybe after 100 shots the magazine jammed in the receiver and I could not remove it. Since this happened after the return period I had to contact Hatsan and they issued me an RMA. I have shipped to them (at a cost to me of $40.00) and am awaiting the repair.

    What others should know:

Two malfunctions within 6months on the same model should give any potential buyer some food for thought

    Things I liked:

If it worked it would be cool as it looks.

    Things I would have changed:

Fit and finish are poor with burrs all over it. The mags are not working we had to loosen the screws.

    What others should know:

It does not recycle bolt far enough to let the next pellet move to the chamber. It needs to be worked on to make it a semi auto.

    Things I liked:

Looked Good but when I fired it off It wont repeat at 16 yards. tried different weight pellets. no good all over the target by 3 to 4inch. 130 pellets later I want my money BACK.

    Things I would have changed:

    Quit making this SHORTIE.

    What others should know:

Don't by this gun waste of money. For the price its bad .

    Things I liked:

The LOOK ... just one look and I wanted to so love this gun, especially since having just purchased (and loving!) the Hatsan Hercules Bully in .357 ... what a beautiful 'matched set pair' the 2 would make, I thought. On unboxing the Sortie, I got a sick feeling as soon as I saw and touched one of the cheap plastic spring-loaded magazines, as I had seen the same ones on the Hatsan Bullmaster, which I had also previously purchased, but arrived damaged in shipment to me.THESE MAGAZINES DO NOT LOAD OR FUNCTION PROPERLY ! I loaded 1 mag into the Sortie, with difficulty, then fired 3 shots, followed by a complete jam, resulting in inability to fire, move charging lever, or remove the magazine. UNFORTUNATELY, THE LOOK IS THE ONLY FEATURE OF THIS GUN I LIKED. I have no clue as to the accuracy, as I had no chance to test it.

    Things I would have changed:

I realize that some energy has to come from 'somewhere' in order for proper semi-automatic functioning in any gun ... the system that Hatsan is using in the Bullmaster and Sortie is totally flawed and needs complete re-thinking. CHEAP/PLASTIC/SPRING-LOADED DOES NOT WORK. The system of the side-lever repeater used in the Hercules Bully DOES WORK ... METAL/LOCKING IN-PLACE. No, it's not semi-automatic, but Hatsan DOESN'T MAKE A SEMI-AUTO THAT WORKS. And with the Sortie costing ~$500, they have to be kidding!!!

    What others should know:

Who would want to buy 'just another backyard plinker', in low caliber, that doesn't function well, or at-ALL, FOR $500 ???? Not me. I returned that thang for full refund ASAP, and would recommend all serious airgunners to avoid even THINKING about buying one of these ..... you just have to close your eyes and FORGET ABOUT HOW COOL IT LOOKS, AND NOT BUY IT! Hatsan was not the only ones to disappoint me regarding a handgun. I also purchased a Weihrauch HW45 , a very highly-rated spring piston design, also costing ~$500, and found it to be a very weak and expensive (but good looking) backyard plinker, as well. I also promptly returned it, AS I AM DONE WITH BACKYARD PLINKERS ... I HAVE A WHOLE CLOSET FULL OF THEM! All these attempts at finding a good looking, powerful, semi-auto, PCP or spring piston, and reliable handgun, to possibly consider for personal defense resulted in THIS: I finally just went ahead and purchased a nice 1911 .45 cal. TO DATE, NO AIRGUNS CAN COMPARE TO THIS CLASSIC

    Things I liked:

The Sortie is light weight and powerful. its accurate for me out to 30 yards. The new folding stock really helps with accuracy.

    Things I would have changed:

I would like to see Hatsan design a better magazine system for all their semi auto pcps.

    What others should know:

Get the .25 cal. Expect about 20 good shots per fill. Iron sights work well but I would recommend upgrading to a scope.

    Things I liked:

I like the looks, feel and accuracy. I get 30 shots on each fill. I zeroed this pistol in 6 shots, at 35 feet. The FPS is better than advertised. The semi automatic is awesome.

    Things I would have changed:

I can't think of any changes I would change.

    What others should know:

You may want to oil the cocking device prior to shooting. Mine was a bit stiff, but after oil and about 90 shots it works fine.
