All gas springs (gas pistons, gas rams) are NOT created equal!
The Nitro Piston 2 has it all over the original Nitro Piston and almost every other gas spring on the market. Most gas springs have a reputation of being hard to cock, but the NP2 put an end to that. According to airgun writer Tom Gaylord, it's the easiest-cocking gas piston he's ever shot.
But Crosman didn't stop the improvements there. They also improved the trigger so it feels like it's been tuned! Imagine that: A factory trigger that breaks crisp and clean. It has a significantly lighter trigger-pull, not one of those so-called "lawyer" triggers that requires Herculean strength to shoot.
As long as they were making improvements, Crosman decided to make a better and more effective integral sound suppression system that really is quiet. You'll notice an immediate difference between the report from your Nitro Piston 2 air rifle and the older Nitro Piston guns or other brands.
So, let's add up what you'll get in this great package: Easy cocking, fantastic trigger and less noise. And, it's assembled in Crosman's plant in Bloomfield, New York. While that's almost everything you could ever want, there's one more thing -- and it's really important: Accuracy. When Tom Gaylord tested a Nitro Piston 2 at an industry show, he commented that he hit everything he aimed at. Isn't that what you want to do? We thought so!
The Benjamin Trail with the Nitro Piston 2 isn't a dream -- it's a dream come true. It's here for you to enjoy, to hit everything you're aiming at, and not strain with each cock and each pull of the trigger. They've put the fun back in airgunning!
If you purchase the .22-caliber rifle, your box may state the wrong velocity with lead pellets.

Great gun for the price range. Been busting the heck out of varmits and other pests on my property. Super quiet, trigger was easy to adjust(mine required very little adjustment), very accurate for a piston powered rifle.
Things I would have changed:Scope was junk, came with a 3-9x32 fixed objective. For this price though its not an issue, I put a $69 Center Point 4-16x40 AO on it and works fine.
What others should know:Its a great pesting and small game gun. I would go with the wood stock instead of the synthetic though because the wood stocks seem to dampen the vibration generated by the piston better. But the Elite piston design feels like it has taken some of that out internaly so either way its a great shooter.

Luv the fact that the Elite series have threaded barrels..i always mod my rifles out and this line up is pretty awesome. I have the .177, .22 and .25 cal Once dialed in with the correct scope and pellets..forget about it! These rifles are consistent.
Things I would have changed:Everyone seems to bark about the trigger..well..quit complaining and put yiur big boy pants on and modify to your liking.. Simple solutions that make these rifles what YOU want is the way to go.
What others should know:Wish we could post pics

I recently purchased a crosman valiant in 22. And the trigger is not working like it should. It's acting more like a single stage. There is no clear stop before you go into the second stage. In simple terms no clean break. It's just mushy all the way through. I've seen many videos on how to do trigger adjustments. But none of them are about getting your second stage stop back. I just want it to be like advertised. I have also shot my friends valiant and it definitely comes to a definitive stop. And so does my Benjamin Ironhide. Do you or anyone else know how to solve this issue. Side note, putting a longer adjustment screw did not work. Again I just want it to come to a clean stop. Any more pressure on the trigger and it fires. I want the predictability of the clean break trigger.
how to avoid the screws are getting loose of the center point scope after a few shots (6)? i have the BENJAMIN TRAIL NP ELITE STEALTH REALTREE CAMO
Use blue thread locker on the screws. (temporary)
Do they make a nicer trigger?
If you mean nicer than the older but similar B18 Trail All Weather? Yes. The NP2 guns use the trigger from the old Legacy made ~2003 which is much better out of the box than the B18 trigger everyone complains about. The only real complaint about this one is the pull weight, which is ~5lbs to be xtra safe. A common mod to these triggers is to use a lighter coil spring inside. You'll see it when you take the trigger apart, it's small but really strong, and that's where the heavy pull comes from. Of course be reasonable, don't install one that's too light so when you drop the gun it fires! The spring in mine yields about 16oz pull in stage 1, 24oz stage 2. The trigger is two stage btw, unlike the B18.

A very accurate, quiet, easy to cock air rifle. This is my second and I would not hesitate to recommend this to those who are looking for a great gun to control pests or teach marksmanship basics.
Things I would have changed:This gun would benefit from a better trigger. On the internet, there are options that will solve this problem with minimum cost or skill level.
What others should know:Pyramyd Air had this delivered to my door within four days of receiving my order.
