This is my second rifle from PA. Like my Winchester 500, the Comet has a cool all-black look with a synthetic stock. Otherwise, this is the best value I have discovered! For only $20 more than the 500, this is much more rifle for just over $100. The Comet is a great econo cannon .22 for pest control. The front sight is the best one I've seen on an airgun: really petite and a perfect marriage to a peep sight. I just slid a Williams-type peep sight down the dovetail and up against the plastic buttcap. That is the stop. Search "Williams" on PA for this type.
Things I would have changed:At first I was upset because I hit a glitch that I have never seen before: an ultra tight breach. This may be a BSA trait. The tight breach was made good by an old "seater" the gun shop sold me in the '90s. I never felt the need to use it before, but the Comet HAS TO HAVE A SEATER! Otherwise, the pellet skirts do not sit flush to the breach. With the seater my thumb was happy, and the pellet, in this case a Chinese Beeman Round pellet (dome), plugged right in and gave excellent accuracy. Pyramid has great seaters that load and seat, so I'm looking to buy those.
What others should know:I registered a soft trigger pull, really good front sights, and perfect power for the suburbs with modest noise for the punch delivered. I went round and round trying to decide on a Crosman Nitro Vantage for an economic mag springer in .22, but like my first bargain mag springer, a Beeman from China, the Vantage looked wrong for me with 800fps in. 22. The Beeman was too loud and hard to handle. The Comet comes in at 560fps, and I figured it was a good fit for a close-range cannon. After over coming issues, it is the right .22. PA pro B.B. made clear that Gamo owns BSA, and he is right that Gamo is too picked on; they are ok. Between the Comet and a Delta, I will vouch that Gamo is better than the Beemans coming out of China (to date). Ammo: Crosman Points or dome of some sort. The domes smack really hard in the field and show up better on paper.
