Description

Air rifles powered by Nitro Piston Technology are helpful to hunters. There's nothing worse than knowing your metal spring might be fatigued and not provide the power and energy you need to humanely dispatch your prey. With a gas piston, you'll always have the same power and never have to give it a second thought because the gas piston does not suffer from the same issues.

With the Crosman Silver Fox NP air rifle, you can shoot spinners, pop the heads off dandelions, kill tin cans or dispatch small garden pests. If you shoot rats, mice, chipmunks and rabbits, the .177 caliber has enough terminal power.

The Silver Fox is equipped with a modern synthetic, all-weather stock. It's robust, stands up to rugged field use and delivers a nice, balanced weight, and stands up to the rigors of everyday use.

If you shoot a lightweight pellet so its velocity exceeds the speed of sound, it could result in your pellet breaking the sound barrier and the gun being louder than expected! The speed of sound depends on humidity, temperature and altitude. Generally speaking, it's between 1,060 fps and 1,115 fps.

Stainless steel barrel and trigger and weather resistant stock, low noise, and light recoil. For the money crossman makes a mid range quality product that is easy to customize and repair if necesary. Parts are readily available, and its a company that will support its product line.

Add iron sites as A feature not an option, every shot needs a scope, sometimes you just want to plink around. Front and rear sling mounts would be nice.

Nitro piston rifles are consistent power plants, if you have a consistent grip and measured trigger pull and control your breathing your accuracy will be dead on. The 2nd most important thing with small caliber pellet rifles is to clean your rifle thoroughly ( not just run a patch in the barrel, really get all the molybdenum out) and tighten every screw and nut before you test fire it for the first time. On your first test fire do a short range 10-15 ft to check the sight alignment, make your corrections to zero. Then have some fun. As your gun is new clean and tighten every 100 pellets. This rifle has an adjustable trigger find your sweet spot and you will find this rifle a jewel. I wasnt crazy about the scope, so I replaced it with a UTG Bugmaster 3-9x32. I replaced the scopes on all my air guns with UTG bugmasters. I got into air guns to practice trigger control and target acquisition. Its a lot cheaper with pellets in the backyard than shooting 308/45-70 at the range.

Its light. But that's about it. It says trigger is a 3 . It is not. No where near. Feels like 8 or more.

Just not wroth the 159.00 I payed. Had to return it because it shot all over the place. Tried three different Scopes three different pellet types, and I couldn't get it to straight no matter how hard I tried. No two pellets we're no where near each other. Put at least 300 through it. Either a lemon or a real crappy gun. I'm no first-termer I have lots of pellet rifles been shooting for years. Any way I would not recommend this gun.

Will not shoot right at all. Feels very cheap.

Purchased here in Montreal from a gun dealer rifle is advertised at 0.177 cal @ 1200 fps....mine is shooting 570 / 580 max i can get with lead pellets 7.4 grains. just sent an e-mail to customer center see what they say. here in Canada everything that shoots over 500 fps we need gun licence.

First review is a fail, bummer. Thought the color was kinda neat, hate the stock tho. Art; I prefer the 177 b/c the .22 is a bit too slow imo. If the gun could even fire a 34gr consistantly it would be less than 450fps. The .25 are not much better and the cost and extremely limited selection of .25 pellets make it very undesirable. The accuracy problem is the gun itself, the fix is to correct the probems which means some work, and often buying a new barrel or just returning the gun. The only real fix is buying a better quality gun for more $. Paul; the 1200 does not apply to anything but the lightest alloy pellets, so a 9.8gr is likely ~900fps. Even the most powerful magnum springer cannot push a 9.8 to 1200 unless it's dieseling, which is cheatng. Glad you have good accuracy b/c it's not the norm. These guns are made in china and what the op described is very common, so in this case it usually is the tool.

I have a great nitro 177. I can stack pellets with it. It clocks 1200 with 9.8gr and I can group pretty much any pellets though 9.8 is the lowest I prefer. Given the chance I prefer 10 up. I get 1in groups at 50yds easily and consistently. It did take a tin and practice but learning the proper hold (it's not the artillery either though my springer 1200 requires a very light version) took a week. Both guns 180% difference in everything but power and I can get stacks of at 35 with a 4x32 every time and better if I try at all. No, it's likely you not the gun unless you have a bad crown. As for. 177, no issues whatsoever :) You can have all the experience and guns in the world but they're usually different and sometimes VASTLY on what they need from you. There's a saying about the craftsman who blames his tools but I don't want to be rude. It's always in my mind until I break the codes to the gun though which is why I mention it. It's helpful to me.

I have a Benjamin Regal NP in .177 and shoot .5" groups @ 25 yards. I also own a Crosman Venom, 2 Benjamin Titan and 2 Crosman Genesis in .177 and .22. I get similar results with all of them. That's just my experience.

William is right here! Luckily I listened to a pro who said to get the velocity down when you see "1200" feet per decond. I went with .22 Fury Nitro. But even then 14 and 16 grain pellets were flying wild! Thank the good folks at JSB for giving gas spring shooters 25 grain "Monsters" and 34 grain "Beast" pellets. Crosman should have made NP guns in .25 ONLY. Hatsan got it right: their econo gas spring is in .25. I will be clear: Even with a peep sight and super DaTuna trigger upgrade, without extra heavy JSB pellets my Fury was like a BB gun! Good luck to any buyer who gets the Nitro in .177.
