The Lancer Defense Scorpion is, essentially, a .50 Cal CO2 Powered Less Lethal Defense Air Pistol. Black edition, this Scorpion from Airsoft Station is powerful, accurate, and practical, all in a manageable compact size. This system is based on a robust body of polymer; Lancer Defense Scorpion is light and rugged at the same time for the various deployments that call for less-lethal measures. It is powered by a 12 g CO2 cartridge that makes the firing mode semi-automatic and features a safety switch. Together, that ensures performance and repeatability with each use. This pistol is able to deliver 4 joules of force at 300 FPS with an impressive muzzle velocity, packing quite a wallop for whatever it may be used against. overall design. upper portion is sleek and resemble the Sig Sauer/ Smith & Wesson real steel semi-auto pistols. The grip & trigger guard mimic the famous Beretta real steel pistol. The grip is nicely checkered, and addition of a hammer is great for looks although it doesn't contribute to its function of launching a paint ball. The matte black finish is esthetically very appealing. A bad guy will not recognize it as a non-lethal gun. A great plus is that it is magazine fed instead of under the barrel like the Umarex HDP50. Another nice feature is the ambidextrous safety mounted on the frame for a more positive engagement.
Things I Would Have ChangedAt 300FPS/4Jules, I think it is underpowered for a defensive tool. 400 - 500 FPS or 13 Jules I think is more appropriate. No modification to increase its FPS is available. Trigger pull is a bit long affecting quick follow-up shots and accuracy. 50 Caliber could possibly be inadequate too for stopping power. 68 Caliber I think is more desirable compared to Umarex's HDB68 (semi-auto shotgun). With CO2 NOT charged and safety OFF, pulling the trigger (dry firing) will result in balls from inserted magazine rolling out of the barrel. You then have to eject the mag and reload the balls into it.
What Others Should KnowDo not dry fire with safety OFF and CO2 not charged. Chambered balls will roll out the barrel depleting the load of inserted mag. When that happens, eject the mag and reload it with the balls that rolled out of the barrel. It's on sale right now at less than $100. Grab some before sale ends.
