Scent Lok BE:1 Trek Base Top, Medium, Blackout

I recently bought this item and have not used it hunting yet so take my review with a grain of salt. I read a lot of reviews about these base layers before I bought them. I tried both this one and the Climafleece BaseSlayer Midweight. I will say, the material of the BE Merino is very comfortable, soft, and stretchy. It feels like it will be warmer than the Climafleece BaseSlayer but again, not being field tested I'm not sure. Some people mentioned that the shirt is too short. It was shorter than I'd prefer but I don't think it will be an issue. I am 5'8, 140 lbs. I typically wear a small to medium but buy my Scentlok gear in a medium for extra room to layer and move about. Another review mentioned this but near the shoulders/neck the stitching seems to itch/irritate a little. I noticed it when trying it on but after a few minutes I forgot about it. Definitely would not be an issue if you wear a shirt under it. Even without a shirt under it I forgot about it pretty quickly. It also comes up a little higher around the neck than the Climafleece BaseSlayer which I liked. One thing I loved about this was how absolutely comfortable it was! In debating between this and the ClimaFleece BaseSlayer, I went with the BE Merino because it was so comfortable, felt warmer, the stretch and materials are great, and the ClimaFleece looked like it had a little shine to it so I went with the BE Merino in case I ever just hunt in the base layers from a ground blind. I will say, the Climafleece Midweight felt great and it took me a while of trying them both out before I could decide. So, if money is an issue and you want to go the cheaper route, the Climafleece is a good option. But if you have the money to spend, I felt that the BE Merino was a better option.

I bought both the top and bottom this summer. Just got to put them to the test this week! The bottoms are amazing and the top is half way there!! The fit is great everywhere EXCEPT the length. I’m not tall and lanky one bit I’m 5’11” and never worn a “tall” size a day in my life. This shirt is just poorly designed in the length category and to be honest I’m pretty less than impressed about it. Standing up it fits ok, however you can tell it’s going to be a problem as soon as you bend. Sure enough get up in my saddle and first breeze blew straight up my back I ended up having to tuck my top layer into my pants to kill the chill. I own more articles of scent lok gear than I can count and this is the only problematic piece. Sure hope someone re designs it rather quick.

This is close to being one of if not the best baselayer top out there. I'm 5' 11" and 190 lbs, ordered a size large. Extremely comfortable, 1/4 is spot on, fit around the chest and arms is perfect. While the fit around the body is perfect (the next size up would be way too big for me) the length is about an inch, maybe 1.5" short. When drawing a bow and bending at the waist my stomach is slightly exposed on the opposite side. The arms are also about an inch or two short as well. If the body length was slightly longer and the arms were slightly longer (throw in thumb holes) this is likely the best baselayer top on the market! A good product the could be great with minor tweaking.

I purchased two sets (tops/bottoms) of this base layer. The fit is just terrible. The tops are short and way too big at the bottom half. The pants don't have enough material to cover your butt.

I absolutely love these baselayers!! Through the years I've owned quite a few different versions of the SL baselayers, but these are the best. The fleece inside and the wool exterior is the perfect combination for both comfort and warmth. They aren't bulky at all and fit well.

Got the new blackout set today! They feel and fit perfect! I am 5’11 and 160 pounds. I went with a size medium for bottoms and size large for top! These will be money in the stand!
