Description
The Octane Elite follows in the footsteps of Umarex’s gas piston Octane Air Rifle. Already a great small game hunter, the biggest addition to this winning design is Umarex’s StopShox Anti-Recoil system. This feature is designed to cushion the forward thrust and recoil of the gas piston for a smooth shooting experience. The all-weather stock has been thickened up in all the right places. The new design has a wider rear stock for a better cheek weld, an enlarged pistol grip, and palm swell on the foregrip.
The Octane Elite gives shooters options for sighting with fiber optic green and red sights or use the included 3-9x40 AO scope for zeroing in on targets and small game. With the Octane Elite, you have all the advantages of a hard shooting a gas piston, with the attention to detail Umarex is known for.

Stock shape and design helps in handling this heavy rifle, Good accuracy after TRIGGER JOB
Things I Would Have ChangedTRIGGER , TRIGGER, TRIGGER....IS BAD. Bought an after market seer and this thing is crazy accurate now. Did not realize how much difference it would make...Almost got rid of the gun before the new seer. Now it is one of my favorites out of 14 break barrels that I own
What Others Should KnowHeavy, ideal use hunting, or bench rest target.
-Clean Barrel before use
-budget in a trigger job if Umarex has not fixed this problem yet
- the 22 cal, shoots cheap 14.5 crossman pellets good...shoots JSBs a bit better
- not super hold sensitive
-blue lock tight all screws after TRIGGER is resolved
- UPGRADE THE SCOPE
The look only.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe defective parts.
What Others Should KnowThis item was made defective, still waiting for a refund.
My Unarex Octane Elite air rifle is great - the power is outstanding. (Warning it can punch holes in things that other air guns just "dent" - don't ask me how I know this... LOL! The accuracy is also great - very easy to zero the scope and it nails whatever you aim at if you do your job. One thing to consider is that this is a heavy rifle and so it would not be a good rifle for those whose strength might make that weight a problem.
Things I Would Have ChangedIt would be nice, even for a big guy like me if the rifle was a bit lighter... Just sayin'...
it seems to be and good rifle shoots consistent for a break barrel
What I like the most about Umarex Octane Elite is all updates that were made from first version. I also like the adjustable trigger. This is my first .22 air rifle brake barrel. Bullets getting harder to come by and much more expensive in California. The Octane Elite keeps my shooting eyes in shape, and lets me practice on different techniques not wasting a lot of money on rounds. I will be purchasing the top 5 brake barrel air rifles from Pyramid. I will let you know my favorite once I get more comfortable with air rifles.
Things I Would Have ChangedI do not know enough about air rifles to give any recommendations
What Others Should KnowFor under $200 dollars Umarex Octane Elite is an excellent weapon system to practice targeting using iron sights or scope. Good Job!
It is accurate
Things I Would Have ChangedEverything. Cocking is a massive. Adjustable -- length of pull in first stage not trigger wt miss represented. Heavy. Forget the scope it is so awful i am not even going to bother to put i on the gun.
What Others Should KnowCheap. Get a gym membership to build up your upper body. I just got this gun MAYBE it will improve with age but unlikely.Economical and cheap but still not worth the money
Accurate and powerful both in one package. I bought this about 4 years ago and have absolutely no regrets. We have a significant squirrel problem and this is the answer. Also works great for other small game (rabbits, opossum, racoons etc). Friends that have shot it are also impressed.
Things I Would Have ChangedCocking effort is significant, not for youngsters.
What Others Should KnowCan't be beat, especially for the price.
This gun is one of my hardest hitting, and accurate rifles in my collection. The accuracy of mine can put 5 shot group inside of a quarter-sized circle at 30 yards. Better if you have a steady rest. This is my varmint gun go-to, which it has many times taken down a full sized raccoons with one shot. I am currently using the same scope it came with.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe cocking effort is excessive. The weight factor is good. Wishing it came in a wood stock version. The sound discharge is moderately high. The trigger mechanism had to be refined to get a smooth trigger pull without altering the accuracy(you can find this enhancement online in detail), since it had a heavy hard trigger pull from the factory.
What Others Should KnowI use Crossman Premier hollow-point 14.3 gram ammo, an it works great. If you use the Premier piranha work great on birds an small rodents. Also, the Benjamin ammo of the same weight and type work great in this gun. Use a heavy back stop while target practicing, shots will completely go through 1/2 inch plywood or fence boards. I have had my gun for 4 years.
