Ataman AP16 Compact Air Pistol, Desert

The Ataman AP16 is truly a beautiful pistol. The lever cocking action is smooth and easy. Its extremely accurate and powerful. I get 3 magazines (21 shots) from each fill. Its got a good weight to it, not too heavy but also not too light. The grip is great for large hands although I ordered the target grips which I know will be much better once they are back in stock.

Better manual. I would like to take the gun apart and make adjustments but no instructions on doing that.

This is my third pistol that I have received. The other two were bought from another seller and both were defective: one had a loose lever from a screw that would not tighten and the other had a cylinder leak after about 300 rounds were shot through it.
This compact AP16 from Pyramid Air has not failed me in any way but I strongly recommend purchasing the two-year service contract as the pistol does seem fragile and prone to problems. The accuracy is amazing. It is loud so a silencer is a must and DonnyFL makes an adapter to hold the silencer of choice. This gun is really a lot of fun to shoot. I am getting groupings that I could cover with a quarter at 37 yards. It prefers heavy pellets. The Hatsan 17.75 grain Vortex Strike have been my best performers for accuracy but everything shoots well through it except for longer pellets supposedly. Yes, $1000 is a hefty price but it is worth every penny.

QC and attention to detail, price. The "tan" is more like "gold".

My pistol failed the first time I tried to change air cylinders. All the air rushed out when I tried to install a charged cylinder and now the gun will not hold air. Despite some annoying issues I was enjoying the pistol immensely before this happened.

The trigger is very light but also very poor, creepy with stops along the path. The safety flat out suks. It is hard to disengage w/o pushing it too far and locking the trigger again. It is also not positive in action and easily bumped off. Two noticeable cosmetic flaws were a tiny ding in the black trigger and a long tool mark that removed the finish the length of the bolt hole in the stock.

I still liked the gun well enough to request another one to replace it, despite being backordered. The only thing I am aware of that is at all comparable is the Atremis PP750 and it is not really the same. It is intriguing @ it's price point but I am not good at tinkering. The action lever on the PP750 is also on the "wrong" side for me.
