Schofield 5" Rifled Barrel Kit, .177 Cal

The barrel was very easy to install and the instructions were very clear. The accuracy of the revolver improved dramatically. I can recommend this to anyone that wants to step up the game and do a little better target shooting or plinking.

This is a sweet option and a must have as far as I'm concerned.

I’m very happy with the new 177 replacement rifled barrels for the Schofield revolvers. I’ve fitted a couple and am not surprised at the accuracy. They work for me. But I purchased others for others that I have and will gift to people I know and appreciate the revolver. I will also keep a couple in bb form for now. D

This is a great upgrade for my Schofield #3 7” BB Pistol. The kit was simple to install, worked perfectly and performed so much better than the BB version that I ordered another kit for my Schofield #1 5 inch barrel version. The rifling makes all the difference for accurate shooting. My 7” Schofield that I purchased in May of 2017was a BB shooter and performance specs were not nearly as good my upgraded .22 cal pellet upgrade. Here are some performance comparisons of before and after the upgrade. BB Model: Hi Velocity: 407.4 fps, Lo Velocity: 360.3 fps Mean Velocity381.4 fps, SD: 10.0 fps, Variance: 100.25. I did not test with pellets, since the barrel was not rifled. After Pell/Rifled Barrel Upgrade: Hi Velocity: 322 fps, Lo Velocity: 302 fps, Mean Velocity: 310.5 fps, SD: 6.99 fps, Variance: 48.3 fps. I was shooting RWS Hobby Sport Wadcutters at 11.9 grain, which is almost twice the grain weight of a BB and accounts for the decrease in overall velocity but increases the fpe. The pellet delivered an fpe of 2.7 vs the BB version’s 1.95 fpe @ 407.4 fps. But the greatest advantage is the new rifled barrel. BBs need the smooth barrel that the stock Schofield comes with. BBs would also damage a rifled stock, although the BB version of the Schofield would shoot .177 pellets with the right cartridges, although not as accurately through a smooth barrel. With the new barrel upgrade I was shooting 6 of 6 shots into 2 inch target at 30 feet. I’m sure a better shot than I am could do much better but I’ll take all the help I can get and this 7” rifled barrel is a big help. One item I should mention that is not in the video or the instructions. After taking the two pins out of the pistol frame, before you can remove the rotating cylinder you have to lift the plate over the cylinder a tad to slide the cylinder out. Hope this saves you a minute on the conversion. I love the upgrade so much that I have another one coming for my #1, 5” Schofield. I think you will enjoy the improvement in accuracy and the extra added punch in fpe. I would have used lighter pellets for my tests except that the RWS Hobby pellets were the lightest that I had on the shelf in .22 caliber.

very pleased with the improved accuracy. for some reason i had to remove both top pins in order to remove the cylinder to change out the barrels
