This metal breech is very well made and easy to install. It adds a bit of weight to a light weight gun giving it a feeling of handling a first class gun. No doubt a metal breech will out last a plastic one
Things I would have changed:A brass bolt handle would be nice if only cosmetic.
What others should know:Crosman 2240 has a whole line of up grades to make a fine accurate gun into a "Dream Gun".

4.0 4.0
Solid ,Changes the feel of the gun.Allows scope mounting options
Things I would have changed:Could be a little longer just for looks. And a basic pistol sight could be included
What others should know:I put this on my .22 backpacker and mounted a 3 color dot sight.Turned a plinker into a more serious feeling/looking back yard sharpshooter.Totally worth the effort I will add to my 2240 and my 1377 as well

5.0 5.0
The weight that it adds to the 2240 pistol, the ability to mount a scope, the stability it adds to the barrel.
Things I would have changed:Better instructions. Other than that, it's perfect.
What others should know:If you own a 2240, I highly recommend this steel breech. The ability to add your own optics is reason enough to buy this.

Nice finish, added weight to my 2289g backpacker which increases stability and accuracy, looks very nice on the rifle and the dovetails are prefect for mounting optics, in my case a 3x9x40 scope
Things I would have changed:I would like to see this as a standard feature on the 2289g, 1322 ,2240, etc, it's a phenomenal upgrade and I would have paid more for my rifle if the steel breech had been included
What others should know:As always pyramyd air had the best price I could find online, this breech kit is the first thing you should buy for your backpacker, it looks nice, comes with thorough installation instructions, and improves accuracy on the 2289 model as there is wobble in the barrel in stock configuration, people will tell you you need a barrel spacer and a metal barrel band, that's not true, those items look nice but aren't needed. Installing this steel breech kit and tightening the screw on your stock barrel band one quarter turn locks the barrel in nicely. . I've done allot of mods to my backpacker but this was the most important. If you want optics on your backpacker this kit is a must and looks allot better than the cheesy dovetail rings that mount to your barrel

Nice scope mount, solid as a rock.
Things I would have changed:Use a little Blue LockTight on the bolt so it does not come loose.
4.0 4.0
4.0 4.0
Solid, well build and able to handle higher air pressure.
Things I would have changed:The bolt handle need to be a little longer, may be quarter inch is good.
What others should know:If you like the original peer sight and open sight, you may need to cut horizontally the rear end, if you use optical and LPA sight, you don't need to change anything.

it added a little more heft the my 2240 which made it easier to hold offhand
Things I would have changed:would be nice if the dovetail was a standard size

I mounted this on my second Crosman 2240, and as with the first one the installation was simple and easy. The scope grooves were incredibly precise. After lightening the trigger, and porting the barrel of the 2240, I installed the Crosman shoulder stock. I next mounted a BSA 2x7 scope and zeroed it for some pretty good accuracy. Same hole at ten yards for several shots! I found that the too long stock needed to be trimmed for the best performance, and did a plastic welding operation to shorten the 16.25" LOP (length-of-pull) to my 12.5". I used one of the two 3.5" segments removed form the stock to create a raised comb. I used an inexpensive electric plastic knife to do the welding, but I have used a flat bladed soldering iron to weld plastic also. The plastic welding operations all completed, I moved the scope forward for proper eye relief and wonder of wonders, the grooves in the steel breech upgrade were so precise that the gun was still zeroed! I was very impressed by that, as never in my too-numerous-to-count prior experiences had I encountered this.
Things I would have changed:It might be good for Crosman to offer a slightly taller Allen head bolt for assembly so that the annoying pellet hangup in the breech does not occur. Pellets just naturally want to hang up in the bolt hole in the breech.
What others should know:When pellet hangups occur in chambering a pellet in this breech, do NOT force the pellet, or you will/damage or deform it causing some loss of power and accuracy. SIMPLY tilt the gun down and lightly finesse the pellet into the chamber. This breech modification/upgrade is worth every penny.

Adds more weight to the gun, easy install
Things I would have changed:When pulling the bolt back it feels ruff, better quality instructions, had to YouTube to install

Well made. This my second steel breech purchase.
Things I would have changed:Include better (clearer) instructions.
What others should know:Be careful with the tiny breech screw. It's easy to strip if the small allen wrench is not fully inserted.

It makes my bugout look and feel like a quality gun. also makes it easier to mount a scope or other site
Things I would have changed:A better bolt
What others should know:The bolt seal leaks a little.

Mostly worked
Things I would have changed:Better quality control.
What others should know:Threads on bolt knob were not right and could not be screwed in to bolt. I ended up using an actual bolt for a knob.

Makes it possible to mount optics on the pistol, feels more solid than stock polymer breech.
Things I would have changed:Pellets are awkward to load with scope mounted over top of open breech, there is less room for your fingers.
What others should know:Instructions could be better. It wasn't clear from them that the rear screw needs to be replaced with the slightly shorter screw in the breech kit if you are removing the rear open sight. Otherwise the screw interferes with the hammer spring and gun won't cock. However, this breech replacement is an easy modification to make.
5.0 5.0
5.0 5.0
Good design and fit, easy installation.
Things I would have changed:Nothing comes to mind.
What others should know:The thread on the bolt was apparently tight, tapered, and fairly short so some care installing it is required.
3.0 3.0
3.0 3.0
WAS EASY TO INSTALL.
Things I would have changed:NOTHING
What others should know:THE PRODUCT IS GOOD BUT IT TOOK ME 3 MONTHS TO GET THIS ITEM. IF IT WEREN'T FOR RUTH, I DON'T KNOW IF I WOULD HAVE EVER GOTTEN IT.
4.0 4.0
2.0 2.0
able to attach scope to the receiver
Things I would have changed:Supply the right mounting instructions for your gun. The one that comes with it is not for the NP pistol and actually confusing. This really should come with the gun or at least available as an add on from the factory
What others should know:I cut off the the rail extension to get it out of the wayn and cleanup the installation

Added this breech kit to my Crosman 2240 in order to mount a scope. Took less than 10 minutes to install. Added a Simmons 2x20 power scope and a shoulder stock, really increased the accuracy of this pellet gun. Highly recommend these additions.
