Just received it in the mail. But I have already gotten it out and shot it and its accurate and shoots like a dream. My kids shot it and it was kid friendly and safe for them to use as well. It is light weight and easy to manage the scope is great and allows for targeting and adjusting.

Airgun is better made than I expected. BB velocity was stronger than I expected also. Set up a target using the shipping box with the airgun box inside to adjust the site. After only 5 pumps, the BB passed through the back side of the boxes from about 25 feet.
Site is a little hard to adjust. Not sure if I will use it. Gun was purchased to scare off woodpeckers and squirrels that find my house siding delicious. Very happy with the gun so far.

Absolutely love the rifle, the weight is perfect and stable. Easy to zero in our of the box. Only drawback is stiff trigger, Make sure to read instructions.

This is a great gun for the price, pump action is easy and the pistol grip was a great addition to the sportsman 900

i dont like the power rating and the scope isnt accurate
5.0 5.0
The Sportsman 900 is the first air rifle I've shot since the classic lever action model my parents gave me back in elementary school. It's been a long time, but I clearly remember having lots of fun shooting cans, boxes and imaginary bad guys. My experience with the 900 brings back that sense of nostalgia, with some modern touches.
I didn't really love the drop stock when I first purchased this airgun. However, the second time I shot it, that stock seemed more natural and I do like it now. The rifle is nice and light, and the length is good. It's been pretty comfortable for me to shoot from any position.
The 900 has had no trouble with accuracy in my backyard. I've gotten out to about 28 feet and after adjusting the included scope, I've had no trouble keeping pellets in a 9x9" target. Standing, I can consistently hit a 2.5-3 inch group. Resting the rifle on a chair or wall, I can cut that just about in half. Given my (low) level of expertise, I feel like the 900 is extremely accurate. Someone with more skill could easily hit a 1 inch group, right out of the box. I'm considering buying a different scope because the one that comes in the box is a bit small for my eyes. I have no complaints about the hardware itself. The adjustments are adequate and it actually performs well in my environment. If my eyes performed better, there would be no need for a change.
Thanks to the built-in dovetail rail, I've been able to swap the scope for an airgun-specific red dot a couple of times for a change of pace. That's been a little bit harder to shoot consistently, but I believe that's more of an issue with the optic that I chose. There's so little recoil that you could put a solid optic on the 900 and keep it at zero indefinitely. I found plenty of optics that will fit the dovetail directly and plenty of adapters that will convert the dovetail to a picatinny rail. So, the 900 will let you apply just about any optic that you prefer.
I've only tried to shoot the 3-dot sights once. I hit my back fence with the second shot, so I decided not to spend a lot of time making adjustments. Fortunately, I've found a piece of plywood to throw behind the target. Now I'm confident that I'll get those sights dialed in. Based on what I've seen so far, the 900 can shoot accurately across the board if I position the rear sights properly.
At this point, I've shot a little over 250 pellets and had very good results (normally with 3-4 pumps). BBs are not quite as accurate. After 50-100, I find that they tend to "float" more than the pellets do. I understand that's typical behavior, so no points off for that. I bought the heaviest pellets and the least expensive BBs that I could get at the time, so take it for what it's worth.
All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase. I would buy another one. I'm aware that some reviewers have had some issues with their rifles, but I've had a really good experience with mine. Time will tell, but I'd say that for the price, the Sportsman 900 is a great value and a lot of fun for backyard plinking.

Familiar grip angle to my real pewpew things since I am a lefty and use semi-autos for real hunting of bigger game (like deer and hogs). Pump handle is easy to grab. Quite comfortable to shoot. Sights are easy to move. The accuracy is definitely there with the right scope. Once I zeroed it, I was putting 10.65gr H&N Barracuda pellets into one ragged hole smaller than a dime at 10yds (the longest range I had to shoot at the time).
Things I would have changed:This thing is LOUD! PyramidAir lists it as "medium," but that is hogwash. I was around the front of the house when one of my boys shot at a squirrel from the back yard. I heard a rather loud noise, and came around to the back of the house to see what it was and found them looking for the squirrel they had just shot at. My f-i-l's model 880 is nowhere close to this volume, yet they both shoot the same velocity. The scope is a joke. Throw it away and get a real one. Even though it is included, know that you are really paying for just the air rifle since the scope is so useless and you will end up buying one anyway. I put on a TruGlo 4X32 scope on it instead. Much better! They need to do something about the constant catch when pumping it. I understand that it's a "safety" feature, but it slows down pumping and makes a ton of noise, which scares away any animals. The loading/pumping sequence is cumbersome as well.
What others should know:The trigger isn't bad. It isn't great, but then this is a $50-60 air rifle, not a high-end one. It's still a better trigger than the AR-style rifles the grip and trigger are patterned off of, and it has a definite wall (no mushy), but it could certainly be a little lighter. I will say that it is still better than the trigger on a Model 880; however, if the Model 880 came with a pistol grip stock, I would not have bothered getting this one. My f-i-l's shoots lights-out at 15yds and is quieter.

Great overall performance. While I was instructing my 14 years old son, I was able to hit the bull's eyes 28 times out of 35 shots from 35 feet. I did it without the scope within 1/2". I hit my 1st 20 shots in a row with bbs.
Things I would have changed:The scope is a joke unless you are a young new shooter so I gave it to my son. I will have to mount it on his Pumpmaster 760.
What others should know:I purchased mine at my local Walmart for $50.00 and 6 months later, it was on clearance for $25.00. I purchased it again and when the pumpmaster is outgrown, I will give it to him.

Well I will start with the good first I own several of your products already your customer service was outstanding shipping was prompt but I am having the same troubles as I was with the first sportsman 900 of complete inaccuracy I was going to contact you after the holiday and try to figure out what we can do to remedy this the rifle itself is great I love the way it fits my hand I love the style and when I can hit something it is a hard-hitting little rifle but the shot grouping on it is absolutely ridiculously inaccurate so if you could contact me that would be greatly appreciated thank you guys and have a good holiday weekend

This is light but solid, quite accurate with open sights and pellets (with a rifled barrel, I do not shoot BBs). I have beaucoup air rifles and this is one of the most enjoyable for looks, simplicity, and accuracy. I've had mine for about 18 months now and it's been a lot of cheap shooting fun, it's the one that I usually grab when I just want to briefly perforate a few tin cans or paper targets in the back yard.
Things I would have changed:For this price point, it's fine just the way it is. No complaints.
What others should know:Since loading single pellets by hand can be challenging, especially for anyone with large hands and fingers, as this is similar to loading a pellet on an 880, I would recommend using a large tweezers to grab the pellet and place it in the receiver. (Harbor Freight has a set of 6 different size tweezers and I endorse this as a useful way to avoid frustration in selecting and loading pellets. I've found this greatly helps to load and shoot quite rapidly.) Also, this rifle - well, at least mine - can be picky about pellets. It seems to like either flat nosed or domed Crosman pellets best and Piranhas least. But, again, for the inexpensive price point, I have no complaints and for someone my age, 70, it makes me feel like a kid again to just hear the sound of a pellet hitting a tin can. It's fun and that's probably the best thing about this rifle.

Cheap, extremely abuseable. Had one for a week I bumped into it causing it to drop off my work bench and the bolt handle sheared off. Returned for a new one I have had it for 2 years now. I have used it and stored it in winter and summer weather works well up to thirty7 pumps where it makes round have zero acuressy farther than 10 feet.
Things I would have changed:Less plastic, or atleast use multiple colors, I would have not made the mussel so sloppy joined to barrel, and personally I dont like the butt
What others should know:Yes oil oil oil make sure the sponges say lubricated. Make sure the screws all stay snug and take the scope off unless you have a better one to replace it with

Very inexpensive - exceeds the "you get what you pay for" expectations. Despite it's very plastic exterior the pump seems pretty well constructed. In an indoor range at 15-25 yards I get very tight groupings using basic competition Crossman lead wadcutters on a rest. Indicates to meet that the gun is inherently pretty true at this distance. The scope is pretty crappy - free moving elevation and windage makes it hard to get really dialed in but it is serviceable at shorter distances. What do you expect when it's a toss in at this price? Open/optic sights are ok. Sliding rear for elevation and right/left screw mounted windage - but screw does not seem to want so set. Trigger is better than I'd expect at this price point - little stiff. Pumping is easy to 8 pumps - I've found 6 to be more than sufficient sufficient at 50 feet.
Things I would have changed:It's really hard to pick this thing apart given the price point - especially if you find it in the $55 - $60 range. It's accurate - the basic guts seem to be pretty good. I'll let you know after I put a couple thousand rounds through it. Feels like some of the plastic exterior could get loose but, hopefully, it won't...so far so good. Not really sure I like the BB feed - it leaves a gap in the breach that a pellet could slip into and/or get jammed in.
What others should know:For the money - and for a learning experience for a young gunner - this thing is so much better than a bottom of the line Daisy and has more hitting power with better accuracy in the lower end Crossmans. It has a pretty cool look to it as well. Way fun to shoot for the money. I have not tested this beyond 25 yards.

Worked GREAT for a very few days, about 8 shots total. Then it just quit being able to compress Air. It just made a Hissing sound. When I checked, this is Apparently a Common Problem.
Things I would have changed:Make the Seals Better, more Durable, so they Last... Certainly Longer than a few days and 8 shots.
What others should know:Check for a More Reliable Air Rifle. This one is NOT reliable !

Light weight, well lubed, low trigger effort, easy to pump, super simple maintenance, out of the box accuracy, seems to shoot all pellets well, it even shoots BBs with a surprising amount of accuracy. PRICE.
Things I would have changed:The scope is hot garbage. I could not dial it in, I have a laser bore tool. I really dont expect much at this price point, I would just exclude it and roll with open sights. The bolt flips up after each round...does not open the breach, though.
What others should know:After reading about the included scope issues, I ordered a Center Point red/green dot with the rifle that works very well, and was cheap. The scope totally transforms this into a nice little rifle!
I am getting quarter sized groupings at 20 ft with BBs and dime(ish) sized with high quality pellets like RWS, H&N.
The box says 16+ but....I think this would be a great rifle for a kiddo because of the light weight and easy pump action. I had a more powerful Crosman at ten.
Overall, great rifle, throw away the scope and pick up one here!

Things I would have changed:Scope doesn't really work.

This air rifle is overall great very happy with my purchase its accurate and light, easy to handle.
The scope needed some adjusting and so i found that i was more accurate without it.
I love this air rifle and would definitely recommend it.
