    Things I liked:

Light weight, light cocking, very light trigger, side lever, super accuracy, good sights, five shot clip, little recoil and no buzz felt, pellet is pushed into the barrel when cocked. The trigger is perfection after adjustment. You can shoot this gun for hours without fatigue. I'd rate the loudness 2.5, making it perfect for my basement target range. This is a really fun gun for target shooting and plinking. It makes a perfect first airgun.

    Things I would have changed:

Not very much. I'd make the pistol grip an inch longer and get rid of the finger grooves, lengthen the trigger adjustment screw - it's just about bottomed out now that I've adjusted the creep out of the trigger. I'd do away with the adjustable stock; I suspect that they made it so short to ship it in a smaller box, not to fit anyone better. At full extension it's a little short, but not bad. I may put a shoulder pad on it.

    What others should know:

It's easy to dry fire, but I figured out that if you can see three open holes in the magazine you can shoot, but should not cock it. I haven't dry fired it since. I've had no problems with the pellet magazine popping out of the gun on release; if all the pellets have been shot, there's no spring tension on the magazine. Nonetheless, I bought an extra magazine, bringing the total to three. I might even get more just to preload. The pellets can fall out of the magazine if it's tipped backward, so I load with the muzzle pointed down slightly. I'll probably scope this airgun, just so I can see the targets it can hit. If you scope it, use Pyramid Air's recommendations.

    Light fun pinkler

    Things I would have changed:

a upgradeable barrel to .22? upgradeable stock if hands are larger

    What others should know:

Bout the mag.. if your pallet is loose. A cheap fix is just a little super glue along the side of the hole where the pallet sits should do the trick. Just a dab. not a drop.

    Things I liked:

What a great airgun! I own two other air rifles and an air pistol, but the IZH-61 is hands down the most fun to shoot, and very inexpensive. It's light, cocks with little effort, has a very light trigger pull, good basic sights, a sidelever, which I like, and an easy to load five shot clip. Best of all, it's my most accurate airgun at short range. I also like Pyramid Air's approach to airguns, its wide selection, professional reviews and recommendations, and I wouldn't have bought it anywhere else. Check out their recommendations for the IZH-61. They're well considered. The recommended H&N Finale Match Pistol wadcutters work well in this rifle, and even UPS couldn't damage Pyramid's pellet pack.

    Things I would have changed:

I'd rather the manufacturer raised the price enough that they could revert to the original multi-adjustable trigger and extra mainspring. Though the trigger pull is light, it isn't crisp, and out of the box it has quite a bit of trigger creep. At least I can adjust that. The pistol grip is about 1/2" shorter than I'd like, and I plan to sand down the right side thumb rest, which is placed a bit off. As others have noted, even with the stock extended, it's a bit short, though my eye lines up nicely with the sights anyway. I'll try adding a rubber shoulder pad to it, and see if that improves the fit without affecting the accuracy. A fixed stock would have been better, since it's short anyway. It's easy to dry fire - I need to pay more attention to the position of the pellet clip. At this price, a pellet counter is a bit much to ask. I really can't complain though, given the price and how much is right with this airgun. I'd add a safety. Because it's so light and compact, I can see that it would be attractive to kids, and every year kids are injured in unsupervised airgun accidents. When you're not supervising your kids, use a trigger lock or safe.

    What others should know:

Taking it out of the box, I could immediately tell it was a Russian rifle. The rough textured stock had lots of the finish rubbed and scratched off in places, but the functioning parts of the gun are all well made. You'll either be disappointed by the rough cosmetics, or you'll be satisfied with the sense of Russian practicality. Because of my imperfect vision, I plan to eventually mount the UTG/Leapers Bug Buster scope that Pyramid Air recommends for this airgun, so I will be able to see the small targets that this gun can hit. Even with iron sights, this is one accurate airgun.

    Things I liked:

This may well be the best $110.00 you will ever spend on an air rifle. Order yours before Russia figures that out. The 5-shot clips and repeater indexing take a little getting-used-to but you will love it soon enough. Lots of fun to shoot (order extra pellets... LOTS of extra pellets and 3 extra clips. You'll be glad you did... 'cuz you WILL later anyway). Extremely accurate once you figure it out. Frame-wise, this gun borders on petite and is very light. Your grip and triggering must be light and precise to get the best from it. You do your part and the 61 will do its'. I mounted a Leapers 3-9x32 BugBuster scope on BKL high-mount rings. Initially, I'd also ordered the BKL 11mm 4" Dovetail Riser as other reviews noted that the 11mm scope rail on the 61 is short. This is true but, depending on the scope you buy (check the eye relief spec... you may NOT need to set your scope back further), I found the additional rise made the sighting from 5M to 10M distances way too radical (2+ dots in the reticle). Bottom line: my scope is mounted on the BKL high-rise rings alone. It fits. It works. Tighten securely. The 61 rail is high-impact plastic and will "seat" a bit. Double-check your rail tension as you sight in.

    Things I would have changed:

Geez, I'd would put a wish list list here but everything I note would double and triple the price and I don't think that's the point. It is truly an amazing $100 buy. Do it. Too small, too light, pistol grip molded for a child, M12x1mm threads on the barrel end makes after-market compensator mods tough... and it could use a little weight on the muzzle. Competition trigger (hello $300+). Better sights (hey... you're going to scope it anyway. The barrel is THAT good). What can I say? Scope it and learn to shoot it. Hunnerd bucks + scope. Done. If anything, metal for the rail area and a bit longer. Relatively cost-effective, production-wise, and gives us more options for sighting and a more confidence-inspiring mount. 1/2" 28 threading on the barrel end (or anything but stock) to accommodate after-market muzzle brakes or compensators. The molding on the pistol grip (thumb and trigger finger) must have been designed for a pre-teen hand. Do without the molding and give us a larger and more "generic" pistol grip overall. As is, the grip does not really translate well, size-wise, to anything else I have ever fired. Not a big deal at all, but it becomes a "shooter adjustment" for this particular gun alone and I would hate to see that be enough to distance the 61 from becoming an extremely cost-effective training tool for clubs, groups, Scouts, etc. Nit-picking, I know, but the quality and functionality of the rest of the components warrant better. Nice gun.

    What others should know:

While it seems to be sized for a smaller human (I'm 6", 230 lbs, hands the size and dexterity of canned hams), I'd consider this rifle "tricky" for youngsters. The rifle should not be dry-fired, so shot count during the repeater indexing is important. The reload process will likely cause a few misfires until you get it right. Once you release the plunger on an empty clip, release the clip, and extract it, do nothing else. Load a fresh clip all the way in. Do NOT mess with the plunger release at that point. Simply cock the rifle via the swing arm and it handles all else, including indexing and feeding the first pellet from the new clip. Any deviation from this procedure can cause the loading (and spraying) of multiple pellets from the next firing. Again, the rifle is light and best results (I shoot 1" patterns at 10M with H&N Sport Finale Match Rifle pellets, .177, 8.18 gr... I also ordered a Gamo Squirrel Field Target and, after 400 rounds, that steel varmint is nothing but punch-drunk) come from delicate and disciplined handling and triggering. The reverse is equally true. The impatient types will not appreciate this rifle. A disciplined youngster, well-versed in the basics, will shoulder nothing better in this or any price range out to $500. Have fun.

    Things I liked:

Easy to cock, decent trigger, magazine loading

    Things I would have changed:

I have 2 purcased around december 09 and they are both horribly inaccurate. I cannot reliably hit 8.5 x 11" target at 10 meters. The "groups" are about 1ft if I am lucky. I can throw a pellet more accurately. I have tried open sites and 2 new bugbuster scopes, and an old japanese Tasco. I have tried 6 types of pellets, and none work. It is not me, I can shoot my Hw35 better without sights. I suspect the pellets are being deformed by the loading mechanism as some forums indicate (google it).

    What others should know:

Be sure to send it back in 30 days if it is anaccurate. The barrels were horribly dirty, and rifling is not as good looking as my other rifles, and pistols. It may be the dirt. I shot about 20 cleaning pellets, and the are still comming out more dirty that my 35 year old hw35 that wasn't cleaned for 20 years.. I thought that since two were showing the same inaccuracy, it may have been pellets, breakin or lack of lubrication. Unfortunately, by the time weather permitted a good test, my 30 days were up. I will be sending both in for warranty work.

    Things I would have changed:

    Stock finish, and the SIGHTS.

    What others should know:

I wouldn't reccomend it if you want one that's the way you want it out of the box. I just put a rubberized finish on mine, which turned out well. New sights are a must. because of that, i really have no idea how accurate the rifle is (or isn't). But it functions well enough, and if you want a gun you can go crazy customizing, this is the one I would say to go for.

It's light. The repeating action is nice. The trigger is OK, although minimally adjustable.

    Things I would have changed:

    Quality...

    What others should know:

This is not really the rifle described when I purchased. It doesn't live up to the hype, in my opinion. I have not found it to be anywhere close to as accurate as it is made out to be. Decent, but definitely not a ten meter rifle. The factory sights are awful, neither front nor rear were even close to in the the same plane. After about 800 pellets the stock broke off mine. The mainspring retainer/cocking lever pivot/stock attachment point is one piece and made of thermo plastic which broke at the retaining pin. Maybe mine was just a lemon but it's pretty disappointing. If EAA repair or replace it for me this may be a fun training rifle for my son one day, so long as he isn't too rough with it.

    Things I liked:

This rifle is nearly perfect for me. I have no complaints of substance. It's boringly accurate. If you do your job and use good pellets, like Crosman Premiers, you will never miss.

    Things I would have changed:

I wish it was a little heavier (a steel or even aluminum receiver would help) and that the stock could adjust a bit more easily: I do not like having to move the mooring nut, but for 110 bucks, I'll put with it and smile. I have changed the front sight to be a sharp post, I put a Mendoza peep sight on the back, and I ground off the right side thumb rest.

    What others should know:

Nice trigger, shoots great, easy to cock, looks pretty sweet, well build, and did I mention that it shoots really well? Seriously, the stock sights are not nearly good enough for the gun. Sharpen the front post, put the cheap yet amazing Mendoza peep sight on it, and go nuts! Mine was really messy when it arrived, by the way. I took it apart (not that hard if you know airguns), cleaned out the factory grease and mysterious sawdust, buffed the cylinder and deburred the sharp edges. The gun went from nice to awesome. Also, some magazines will let some pellets drop out... this is not a big deal to me. I just take care with mags that are loose.

    Things I liked:

Price, weight, look and feel, uniqueness, accuracy (with the right pellet...)

    Things I would have changed:

open sights need to be better.. much better. Scope rail needs to be longer. Go back to the original trigger.. this new one does not work well and changes a great gun into an OK gun.

    What others should know:

The IZH-61 has been around a while. This version seems to have a different trigger than what I'd remembered. The rifle uses a side lever to cock the spring and rifle, as well as advance the 5 shot clip. The 5 shot clip is a nice function and makes this a very fun rifle to shoot. The open sights are pretty awful in my opinion. The Leapers Bug Buster turned out to be just right for this project. The stock is adjustable for smaller shooters, which makes this a good option for both young and old. There does not seem to be a safety on this rifle, which is a big concern in my book when considering this for a youngster. The rifle is inexpensive, performs well with the Gamo Hunter pellets but you’ll need A LOT of practice and patience to master this new trigger.

    Things I liked:

inexpensive, easy to cock, easy to load, fairly accurate (may need to swab out the barrel, there might be some goo in there from packing...)

    Things I would have changed:

scope mount should be farther forward and a bit longer - had trouble getting both claws of the scope mount to actually hold on and not interfere with the mag release. also, for some of us older folks, the sights (stock and scope) are a bit too close, making it hard to see.

    What others should know:

really nice for the price. my 'range' is across a 2 car garage, so at about 6 or 7 meters I can put 5 in a hole the size of a quarter. things to adjust: trigger (take up some slack) and grip (found out I'm holding a spring gun WAY too tight, and fighting the recoil).

For the price alone this is a great deal! The gun is easy to cock and is very accurate. Seems very sturdy built with composite material and metal. Adjustable butt stock is a big plus. 5 shot mag helps keep the fun flowing. Pyramyd sells extras so get some :)

    Things I would have changed:

The 5 shot mags hold the pellets very loosely and if you if you want to pre-load a few and cary them along; forget it...they're gonna fall out.

    What others should know:

For the price, if you like target shooting the gun is very accurate and easy to operate. Would be great for small folks or kids also due to its size and ease of use but big enough for big kids too!!

A bit loud for my taste but doesn’t disturb the neighbors. The gun is accurate, light to carry. If you are impressed by the IZH 61 accuracy. You might want to check out Mauser Bolt Sniper Rifle by Cybergun. It can do what the IZH 61 does at 75 feet from 100 feet away with a 23 round clip and ultra quiet. Pyramyd sell the gun too. Keep in mind this is airsoft gun though.

    Things I would have changed:

I wish the description of the product was accurate before I considered buying. (At least it's updated now)

    What others should know:

Over the net the IZH 61 is a bit over hyped since it’s been downgraded. (False advertising depending which version of Baikal you receive) The famous extra main spring and fully adjustable trigger are removed. Instead it’s substituted with an extra magazine…kind of a let down.

    Akimbo!!

    What others should know:

I guess newer models do not have the adjustable trigger. My trigger group looks nothing like the pictures. The only screw I see is "pinned" in . This was a big selling point for this rifle and I'm a little let down.

Nice little rifle for indoor target practice. Easy to cock with fairly good sights, although the rear sight is pretty basic. You have to unscrew it to adjust windage.

    Things I would have changed:

Has tendency to fire two pellets at once. The magazine could use an update. Instruction manual is not well written and I found the loading procedure difficult to understand initially.

    What others should know:

I did not receive the model shown on the web page. The new model izh 61 has a plastic trigger with a single adjustment. So lots of the information on the website is wrong. I also didn't receive an extra spring as advertised. I emailed pyramid air about this but never got a response. Oh well

Light, accurate, well engineered. You won't find a better value for this price. This clip fed repeater works like a charm. Easy to cock, fun to shoot.

    Things I would have changed:

Longer stock. Longer rail for scope. I used an offset mount the works. Needs a stock comb. You have to bend your head too much to use the iron sites.. but they aren't worth saving anyway. A would like to try a nice peep sight like the Mendoza sight.

    What others should know:

I've only shot Daisy wadcutters so far. They are accurate at only 5 meters but they appear to be tumbling... tear ragged holes. Maybe the barrel needs a good crowning or it just doesn't like the Daisy's.

    Things I would have changed:

Pyramid should revise their advertisement to reflect the changes in the trigger adjustability on the newly shipped IZH 61. See below for specifics.

    What others should know:

The IZH 61 that I received has a different trigger assembly than was advertised on the web site. Specifically; 1) The trigger is plastic and there is no trigger position adjustment (as shown on item C on page 3 of the online manual), and 2) there is no trigger pull weight adjustment (as shown on item B on page 3 of the online manual). The trigger travel adjustment screw is present (A on page 3 of the online manual).

    Things I would have changed:

Stock is a bit iffy on sturdyness when fully extended, magazine is ok but could use a design change.

    What others should know:

Get extra magazines. And count your shots, until you get used to it a dry fire is very easy. And be sure to hold your hand over the magazine if you eject after only a shot or two, or it will fly into a black hole and vanish. And I have had great groupings with Crosman Premiers. Will not take heavies like eu Jin, they are too long for the magazine and you cannot insert it.

    Things I liked:

The look of this gun is certainly unique. The feel and balance suit me just fine. It shoot where it's pointed, one hole groups are the norm, not the exception. The sidelever action makes it real easy to operate, and having 5 shots makes it awfully hard to stop. Being that these are a scarce commodity, I know that I have the only one (probably) in my entire county! Just seeing one of these causes insane jealousy in other shooters! I have backorder in for a month now, but managed to find possibly the last unsold Izzy 61 in the country. I like it so much that I'm keeping my backorder on, so sooner or later, I'll have another one! This is the spookiest little black russian gun that you can't buy!

    Things I would have changed:

I'm liking mine just fine, thank you. Wouldn't change anything.
