This item is extremely historically accurate including down to specifications of barrel length and bayonet lug and trigger pull. I found a bayonet on the internet; the M4 specifically, and it actually does slide onto the muzzle and locks in the bayonet lug. I think that's amazing for a reproduction bb gun to be able to accommodate an 80 year old accessory.
Things I would have changed:I bought the one with the synthetic stock and I wish I would have bought the Wood stock for $100 more.
What others should know:It's very realistic reproduction. Keep it clean and lubed or you will go through a very large amount of CO2.

I purchased the Woodstock Carbine. Except for the slightly longer magazine, the carbine is identical to my original US M1 carbine. Once I resolved the magazine issue, I found it to be the most accurate smoothbore airgun I’ve ever had. Off the sandbags it’s shooting less than 1 inch groups at 10 yards The sights are dead on at that distance. I found it still has good accuracy at 15 yards. The bolt recoil gives it an enjoyable solid kick. If you own a real M1, you need to buy this BB reproduction to keep your shooting skills up without spending a fortune on 30 carbine ammo. Lastly, be prepared for having a lot of fun.
Things I would have changed:The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was the magazine. The magazine sent with the gun would not allow the CO2 cartridge to completely seal. Pyramyd air service was great, they immediately sent me a new magazine and said just keep the old one. Unfortunately, the new magazine was worse than the first. Upon examination, I realized that the threads were covered with the parkarized finish of the magazine, preventing the cap cover to fully seat. The remedy was to simply place some machine oil on the cover’s threads then screw through (tap) the excessive finish.. That completely resolved the problem.
What others should know:Buy plenty of Co2 cartridges, but don’t let that dissuade you, it’s a small price to pay for such a realistic action. I get 28 full power shots per cartridge.
The only BB’s I had on hand were Crosman. It’s worth try other as the fantastic accuracy I achieved may even be surpassed.

looks and feels like the original, a little back heavy to perfection, and satisfying blowback
Things I would have changed:the synthetic stock could've been made with higher-quality polymers that mimic the wood feel.
What others should know:out of the box, the accuracy was trash so I had to adjust it a little
The mag worked fine for my first 3 mag dumps but then I started experiencing gas leakage and had to order a replacement mag.
Overall fine

I own a number of makers and makes of BB / Pellet guns. Including the Springfield Armory series Mil Spec .45 Auto and the break barrel .177 M-1A. The M-1 carbine out of the box- top notch! I upgraded to the wood stock- very happy I did. If your going to get one- get one that feels like an M-1 carbine. I have owned a number of the real McCoys and this one is pretty darn close to the actual. Looks, feel in the action.. it is there. Out of the box- beautiful piece. Finish and function- wow! I was impressed . I actually waited to purchase this one. After looking at many reviews- best purchase so far. Shoots amazing! In BB configuration- how can you go wrong. Plink all day- and not much to pay. It does eat Co2. But for the action you get well worth it. Definitely get yourself a second, third and even fourth spare mag if your serious about enjoying continues fun for an afternoon. I’m in my late 50’s and even a serious shooter and collector can enjoy this gun.
Things I would have changed:Nothing- when you have done something right. Not much for correction. Great job on this one! I hope they keep coming with others including an M-1 Garand in the same type function. Will Leave that up to the designers. Another topic-another time.
What others should know:Honestly- for the price difference. Wood is really worth it. Just judge what you want it for and buy accordingly.
I have put approximately 500 plus “steel” BB’s thru it in the not quite 30 days since purchased. Can say honestly- has not missed a round- in function or on the target.

This M1 handles like a hot knife thru butter holding a 1/2 pattern at 12yards. This is an amazing piece of shooting equipment.
Things I would have changed:It needs to have an attached bipod, other than that for me it needs nothing else.
What others should know:Buy it while they have it.

I ordered the wood stock version and it is a duplicate to my real rifle. The closest you can get. Backyard friendly and functions great. Bolt action is very nice
Things I would have changed:Accuracy is not great. A pellet version would have been better.
What others should know:Shot count is low. Averaged about 3 mags per co2. Dual co2’s would have made it better.

I have two real M1, carbines, and the CO2 M1 carbine, feels like the real thing. Mine shoots a little bit to the right, but that may be from my trigger pole I like the gun quite a bit real nice
Things I would have changed:The magazine that came with the gun did not work properly that I remove the valve on the clip and found the O-ring was out of place easy fix
What others should know:I think the guns real nice I like it quite a bit but I’m a big fan M1 carbines

This is a really cool looking replica. If you get the wood stock it's worth it. Has a nice look and feel. I have had mine for almost 2yrs. With proper care and treatment it will last many more yrs.
Things I would have changed:First off they factorys quaility control needs improved. For the price you pay which is as much as a 22lr version. Attention to detail is seriously lacking. Several places on the wood stock are not stained or sealed. They are exposed and visable. Makes it look cheap and unfinished. I bought 2 extra magazines with it. Good thing, 1 of them has never worked properly from day 1.
What others should know:This a very good replica of an m1 carbine. It's a whole latta fun to shoot. If you check everything over. Read the manual and understand the operation and use proper care and mantience. (TIP) If you put just half a drop of pellgun oil on each co2 cartridge, before install and an occasonal drop oil on any moving parts. Make sure you wipe any excess. This will last a very long time.

It is probably the best replica I have seen. The weight, balance and action are right on. It looks and feels like the real thing.
Things I would have changed:Make sure it has a working magazine. I like that the rifle is all metal but the magazine should be made of polymer instead of Zamak.
What others should know:I am extremely impressed with the rifle but the magazine leaks badly. All the air leaks out in about a minute, basically making it a really cool paperweight. I did manage to get three shots off before it would not cycle. I could cover those three shots at 10 yards with a dime, so it seems to be very accurate. If I can get a working magazine I think I'll be happy.

Everything! I shot one forty years ago and this has all the feel of that carbine. Glad I read the reviews and opted for the wooden stock. I doubt I'll ever shoot it but I have it if I decide to.
Things I would have changed:The white lettering but given today's litigious society I understand why all manufacturers do this.
What others should know:Buy one if you can. Eventually you'll regret it if they go away.

Metal construction.
Things I would have changed:The plastic stock is not very convincing. I should've ordered the word version. The store will take back the plastic one for a 20% restocking fee and I have to of course pay the shipping. Even though I've never fired it

Very pleased with the carbine. Wish now I had opted for the real wood stock, maybe when my next ship comes in. Fit and finish on the carbine are very good, and the function is flawless. Reminds me of basic training 59 years ago (it wasn't all bad).

Authentic m1 look. Great design.
Things I would have changed:Wood stocks are being shipped in boxes that say wood like synthetic stock. Same some money on returns and confusion and take a black marker and cross out synthetic stock.

This is a fun and authentic-looking replica. I got it with a plastic stock, but I recommend getting the wood version if your budget allows it. I think wood would lift this to a whole new level. For me, the wood stock put the price point too high for me for this as a casual toy, and I still really like it with the plastic. The magazine is heavy in a good sense. Solid. The action works well and sounds realistic. Make sure to get an aftermarket oiler and a sling for this. Look for reproduction ones (World War Supply is where I got my set in OD green). Having a sling on this makes all the difference. I also have the Springfield Mil Spec 1911 bb gun, which I think is the best looking 1911 bb gun out there if you want a WWII look. With that and my M1, all I need now is a 1940s Jeep!
Things I would have changed:The hand guard on mine was not tight and therefore every time I held or used this gun I heard the sound of plastic rattling on plastic. That spoiled the effect for me, so I put a little superglue between the plastic hand guard and the plastic stock, and now it sits tight and doesn't make that distracting noise. I figure I can always pry it apart should I ever need to disassemble this thing since I only put the glue in two small spaces, one on the left and one on the right where the seam of the hand guard and stock open to the action. I only get two mags at best with rapid fire and not much more than that when shooting more slowly and allowing it to warm up a bit. You will be somewhat limited in how much you can shoot this thing unless you don't care how much CO2 you burn. My mag only holds 14 instead of 15 bbs, but that's not a dealbreaker for me.
What others should know:If you are a fan of the M1 Carbine and want one you can shoot in your house or back yard, this is it!

Ordered mine refurbished with the $10 pre-inspection, money well spent I think. A great reproduction and value. After a few hundred shots no problem with magazine or action.
Things I would have changed:Quite accurate out to 15-20 yards, though mine shoots high enough that I have to aim through the middle of the front post for consistent hits.
What others should know:World War Supply sells a reproduction sling with oil stick that pops into the recess - a must-have accessory for $15

The rifle. I have always been a fan of the M1 Carbine (the real thing), so I finally ordered the Springfield version, which came last weekend, and it does look like the real thing. I've had a Crosman version for years and well, it only has a vague appearance of the M1. I opted for the wood stock on this one; it just looks better. It is a walnut-stained softer hard wood, perhaps Alder, but looks good. Yes, the M1 bayonet does fit on this Springfield replica. The barrel mount was a bit thick and had to be filed a little. I used curved rifle files for the job then touched it up with a black permanent marker. BUT I have seen the real M1 rifle need the same adjustment.
Things I would have changed:#1. At least two good and tested magazines in the box, not just the one. And make sure they function! #2. Make the magazine follower out of metal, plastic does not seem to be up to the job. #3. Chamfer the BB loading port to make it easier to load.
What others should know:My boys and I have already given it a good work out, the rifle has worked quite nicely. The Magazines, not so much. I ordered an extra one and they both stink. Both mags were unpackaged and placed on the bench so not sure which came with the rifle, and which was the extra. One leaked profusely with a pinched / torn O ring in the valve assembly and had to be replaced, the other had a broken follower and could not be loaded. (There are a lot of complaints about the follower.) I machined a new follower out of metal; why they use plastic for this part is beyond me. Loading the BBs was not easy, if they were not placed directly in the hole, they rolled away, so I chamfered the BB port about 45 deg which made it much easier to get the BBs in the loading port.

The Springfield M1 BB carbine was a bargain at $129 Black Friday special. I own other M1 carrbines, original, and 22 caliber, but this BB gun was just the ticket for backyard plinking without bothering anyone. I have shot 2 magazines of BBs and so far it seems to be pretty good ... for a BB gun. I bought the synthetic stock version and am pleased with it. I have the real thing so no need for wood for this gun. The weight and feel of it are approximately that of the real thing, mostly due to the weight of the magazine. For a backyard plinker it is a great little rifle. I did buy the 10 for 10 deal so that Pyramid would check it out before it was shipped... worth it... as they tested the velocity, which was about 400 FPS, but that will get better. We are not talking a minute of angle, competition firearm here... we're lookiing at something to plink tin cans, or targets at about 30 feet in the back yard. I have used copperhead BB's and they seem to be great for what we are doing.
Things I would have changed:Not much to change... maybe upgrade the sight to do elevation as well as windage... it's a fun little gun. cheap to plink with
What others should know:You will use a lot of CO2... about 40 shots per cartridge, get an extra mag and be careful with it. Read all instructions and follow them.
