Description
Ataman is well-known for high quality, exceptional reliability and cutting-edge technologies. A combination of state-of-the-art production, superior materials, and the legendary expertise of Russian gunsmiths stand behind every Ataman rifle. Craftsmanship and excellence is evident in every aspect of this compact rifle from its shrouded Lothar Walther barrel and ergonomic stock, to the adjustable trigger, and lightweight versatility.
The Ataman M2R Type 1 Bullpup Air Rifle features a stunning 4,350 psi (300 BAR) fill pressure, delivering more shooting time between fills. It has smaller dimensions and weight compared to other PCP rifles while maintaining the same accuracy. The bullpup design makes the gun perfect for those that travel or hunt in tight spaces, where a full-sized gun wouldn't maneuver as well. The gun includes an integrated Picatinny mounting rail and features a soft touch black stock.

The rifle overall is built really really well. Cycles rounds nicely and shoots straight. Trigger from the factory is light and crisp... perfect for me and no messing around. Allows for 300 bar... very nice.
Things I Would Have ChangedCheek piece... for me my cheek lands squarely on the magazine. Magazine is made very nicely but not $118 worth of nicely... loking at the pressure gauge is looking down the at the business end of the rifle... and MOST important no lower picatinny rail for a bi-pod.
What Others Should KnowI own a number of Hatsan rifles... they are no where near the build quality of this Russian made rifle... not even closely equal. The Hatsan guns are nice but this gun is REALLY nice.

This is an exceptional air rifle. It is my first big bore. I have been putting in a lot of overtime at work and wanted to treat myself to a high end 9mm / 357 pcp air rifle. I was looking for both power and accuracy, and I love how consistant the shots are with this gun. I have shot both JSB Diablo and Predator Polymags, and it likes both. The Polymags do not fit the magazine, however, and need to be fired as single shots. Another thing I like about this gun is the versatility of the magazine, as you can reload without removing, and you do not need a single shot tray to change to that platform.... very well thought out. Like the other reviewer, my other pcp is a Hatsan (specifically a Bullboss). That is a nice entry level gun, but it is not in the same class as the Ataman. You get what you pay for. Everything about the Ataman accentuates attention to detail and craftsmanship. The rubberized synthetic stock feels and looks exceptional.
Things I Would Have ChangedThere are a few things that will take a little getting used to. The trigger took me a little getting used to in terms of knowing where it would break. I knew about it not being a 2 stage trigger going into the purchase, as I read and watched every review on this and several other guns before making my decision. I have come to like the trigger. The cocking mechanism does not allow for fast follow up shots, as it is located at the end of the stock. This does not bother me either. It is exceptionally smooth, and far superior to the craftsmanship on the Hatsan, which, at 3 times the price, I would expect. Again, you get what you pay for. Lastly, I knew from reading reviews that this was not considered back yard friendly, but I was still a little surprised just how loud this gun is. It sounds more like a firearm than any air rifle I have previously fired. It is my first experience with a big bore air rifle. None of these points are things that I would necessarily change.
What Others Should KnowIf you are looking for a moderated gun that is somewhat quiet, look elsewhere. This is also probably not going to be the platform of choice if you are left handed. If you have done any research, you probably already know.
All in all, this is a gun that I am confident will work for me, and given the build quality, I anticipate it performing at a high level with minimal maintenance. In my opinion it was well worth the money. I am very pleased with my purchase and looking forward to pairing it with the Athlon Midas TAC 4-16x44 scope that I ordered the other day.
