10 of 12 Barnett HyperTac 430 Reviews
Love how accurate this crossbow is . Deer slayer for sure . Love the drop down front AR grip and stock . Love the looks also . What sold me on this crossbow and sets it apart from all the other Barnett crossbows is that it has the cranking device built into the track that’s way better then the others that have to be set in place to crank back and is a pain in the butt. Want the best Barnett crossbow buy the Hypertac pro 430 . Killed Two really nice Virginia bucks with it also fall of 2022….
Pros: -build quality is in line with other premium bows
-trigger is very consistent
-shoots very tight groups out to 60-70 yards
-scope didn't come installed but was very simple and on target right away
Cons: -crank cocking mechanism is louder than expected
-turning safety off is much louder than expected
-most bows in this price range are able to be decocked without shooting the bolt
Pros & Cons: -shoots hyperflight bolts which are proprietary (and in my opinion expensive) but can be purchased from multiple retailers. Many reviews mention not being able to find them which is definitely a concern but by planning ahead hopefully won't be an issue. Even though the hyperflight bolts are expensive I have found them to be very high quality so far and I can tell the penetration will be very good on an animal based on how they are performing on my targets.
-warranty is 5 years on bow and 1 year on accessories. This isn't horrible but would like to see lifetime warranty on bow for a premium product such as this one.
-customer service resolved a shipping mistake (missing item) although the timelines was longer than I would've liked (pretty much the case for any company with more than 10 employees right now).
Overall I'm happy with the bow and can't wait to try it out this coming fall.
Right out of the box I liked the look and feel of this bow. I was upgrading from my Whitetail XTR which was super reliable so I had high expectations. Other than the scope not being factory installed it was easy to get on target. I love the new integrated rail hooks for cocking the bow. I'm sure other models and vendors will be copying this setup. I have found the first reticle to be good up to 30yds and second was dead on at 40 yds.
I previously owned two crossbows, a Tenpoint Nitro and Excalibur Micro. This bow shoots so much faster, is slimmer, and the trigger is much better. Extremely satisfied with the bow and have already recommend it to a few others.
I have owned a Recruit, Razr, Terrain XT, and Hyperghost 405; I've liked all of them and never had a problem with any.
This Hypertac Pro430 is the best one so far. The built in crank system is amazing. It doesn't get harder as the cable travels the rail.
Also, for those that say they have problems from time to time with Barnett xbows, I suggest that you read the manuals thoroughly. There are tips that prolong the life and condition of the bow.
When I purchased this crossbow I was skeptical about the accuracy with the reticles provided. I dialed it in at 20 yards, stepped back to 30 yards and adjusted the speed dial on the scope. The reticles are spot on now for 20-30-40-50-60-70. Again I was skeptical, so I tested it on my tough block. I was astonished that I could maintain 1” groups at 70 yards! The Hyperflite arrows are a game changer with accuracy even with a slight crosswind.
I was able to put it to the real test when I took it into the woods for the first time this year. I ranged and harvested a nice 9 point at 48.6 yards! I would of never attempted this shot with another crossbow, but I had confidence in mine after seeing it perform while practicing.
I’ve shot Ravin and Ten Point crossbows and this one performs as good or better at a fraction of the cost. I can’t wait to see what Barnett releases next.
I took 2 does with this bow last year. The first one took 1 step, fell down, and expired. The bolt hit her with such kinetic force that the rage broadhead lodged into her back shoulder and I had to unscrew the bolt to remove in the field. Had to carve the broadhead out of her at time of butchering. The second doe was hit a running fountain of blood. Ram about 60 yards and dropped dead in the middle of the field. This year I’m considering adding the Burris Oracle and this rig will be good to go for years. I too wish I could find a bag that the bolts don’t get buried up to the fletching. A decocking feature is the only thing missing on this setup. The option of a lighted mock on the bolts would be great as well. Extremely happy with this bow!
I took the crossbow out yesterday to shoot first. Three of us all retired and experienced with crossbows set up the crossbow CCD per all instructions. The first bolt I fired was a hyper decoking bolt and at 20 yards buried it into the ground. But then I noticed a brown braided line hanging off the left side of bow. It appears the CCD string disengaged from the string hooks. I'vew contacted Barnett to see what they will do.
Was very fortunate to harvest one of my top hit list bucks with my new HyperTac Pro 430. My shot was a little low and forward, though with the HyperFlite arrow, Bloodsport GraveDigger Chisel Tip and 430fps, the arrow blew through the nearside leg, chest cavity and opposing leg for a lethal shot. Love the integrated crank cocking device, narrow limbs and crisp trigger!

I’ve owned quite a few compound bows and crossbows in my life, but nothing like this! I received the crossbow today put the scope on waxed the string cranked it up with the ccd incorporated in the bow(which is awesome) and fired a bolt at about 15 yards and it blew completely through the target! And the target is rated for 520fps arrows, unreal! After I get a target to stop this beast I’m sure it’ll be impressive! Thanks Barnett!!
