Price, can't beat $19.99 I've been told they went up. way it's made.
What Others Should KnowI put the first on on a Marlin 39A 22 the other 3 it bought I'm giving for Xmas.
nothing- it did not work right from the beginning. the vertical adjustment would not work.
Things I Would Have ChangedN/A
What Others Should KnowPYRAMYD AIR Has great service. When I called with the problem, the rep. understood. We worked out an upgrade and a couple days later had the new sight.
I do like the looks of this sight although that is not the reason I bought it. The dot, when the rheostat is set on the lower settings, is very sharp, very clear and very tiny! It is almost a pinpoint of a dot. I am using it on a pistol shooting at 10meters and, for $20, I don't know how a person can do any better. Also, Tom Gaylord was very kind to it.
Things I Would Have ChangedLike all lower priced optics, the adjustment wheels have absolutely no indexing on them. The adjustments have clicks you can feel, but all you will ever know is how many clicks you moved the knob from where it was set before, not from the center of the adjustment range. I also wish that there was some more obvious way to know when I forget to turn the lamp off.
What Others Should KnowI am having some difficulties getting a good zero. In fairness, I have only put it on pistols and none of them are exactly well known for being accurate. However, the sight seems to want to aim up and to the left as POI is a fairly nice grouping that is quite low and way to the right. Since the mount does not use rings, I have not thought of a way to try and shim it. My thinking is that it is a very average lower priced unit (except for the size and clarity of the dot, which is considerably better than average) but the value for money is great with a $20 price tag. I am counting on finding a way to sight it in. Otherwise, if it can't hit the paper, it's not much good.
Also, PA was good enough to send me a second unit when the first one I had was damaged in transit. The lamp assembly that mounts to the underside of the rheostat had come loose and was hanging by its wires. I am going to treat this critter with TLC as I suspect it is not quite as rugged as it appears.
Best I can tell It's well made.
Things I Would Have ChangedMake it 1 or two power.
What Others Should KnowCan't beat price.
I got it to go on Marlin 39A. And I ordered 3 more for my kids for Xmas.
Once I got it working it was fabulous. With my IZH 60 at thirty plus feet with support from a friendly tree I was able to put three consecutive pellets in less than the diameter of a dime the first day (and I'm not that good a shot). The red dot is really useful in aiming and the rheostat to adjust its brightness is a good feature. The elevation and traverse adjusting knobs have little clicks which really help in making small adjustments. (Comparing this with a 4 by 15 scope I was working on in the same timeframe, there are light years of difference). This thing is responsive to very tiny adjustments. So far, it seems to have held its settings between "on & off" cycles. The flexibility for either 11 mm or Weaver mounts is really great, wish others would follow suit.
Things I Would Have ChangedThere really should be some instructions with this thing. The battery cap screw threads were damaged and can be used only partly (since I'm a fair weather shooter and the thing is locked up the rest of the time, I decided I could live with it). The rheostat knob feels rough on turning and when I got it the laser was "on". The latter two almost convinced me to send it back but I decided to fight for it and boy was it worth it. The size is huge and it gets in the way when loading pellets and the screws provided with the 11mm mounts were too short, (fortunately the ones from the Weaver rails were longer), so I could get it mounted. These things should be addressed. Still, it's a super concept though it has some rough edges.
What Others Should KnowUnderstanding all the negatives, don't walk, run to get one while they last (they are now 19 bucks!). For a senior shooter who needs a little sight advantage the laser dot is fantastic. It's letting me explore the accuracy of the IZH 60 much more fairly than its iron sights ever could.
Easy to mount, zero and use. Already had the 11mm mounting parts included so I didn't have to look for adapters to mount it on the Baikal.
Things I Would Have ChangedNothing
What Others Should KnowBought this for my Baikal IZH 61 as I thought it would be easy for my 10 and 12 year old girls to use and understand. They really like it and it is their favorite rifle/sight combo. Very accurate at 10 yards.
Simple to adjust, Very Accurate, Easy to mount
Things I Would Have ChangedI would make dedicated adjustment knobs for windage and elevation rather than covers over the adjustments.
What Others Should KnowThis may be on the cheaper end of the dot sight spectrum but don't count it out as a contender for a decent dot sight. This sight is very accurate when properly adjusted and only takes around 10 minutes to mount and sight in. Great for just target practice or pest control.
This scope is very well built, and is easy to see through with my glasses on. The red dot is easily seen in the brightest sunlight. The main control is easily accessed & used from in the shoulder position.
Things I Would Have ChangedMaybe some finer adjustments for the adjustments of the Vert. & Horizontal adjustments.
What Others Should KnowSo far this scope seems to handle the vibration/s from my Gas Spring/Nitro Piston rifles. It is very good for the price charged. I am using it at 10-15 yards for target shooting or small game hunting.
Seems to be solid and well built. Red dot is highly visible in low light.
Things I Would Have ChangedEither the mount or more adjustment.
What Others Should KnowI was unable to get poi on ten meter target. I mounted on Avanti 859C but could not adjust to strike point of aim.Might try it later on a .22 or crossbow.
