AirForce Spin Loc Carbon Fiber Upgrade/Spare Tank for .457-Cal Texans

With the introduction of its line of .457-cal Texan PCP air rifles that use 475cc carbon-fiber air bottles, AirForce Airguns has lightened up each of the rifles in the Texan line by about 20 percent. These tanks also feature AirForce's upgraded TX2 valve which, according to the manufacturer "increases efficiency and power to the next level," giving this new breed of Texan unprecedented power. While the standard, aluminum bottles' maximum fill pressure tops out at 200 BAR (roughly 2900 psi,) the CF bottles' 250-BAR (3626 psi) max fill pressure produce muzzle energies over 700 fpe in the Texan and Texan LSS and up to 600 fpe in the Texan Carbine and SS models.

So, if you are the owner of a Texan that sports an aluminum bottle, all you need is this carbon-fiber version with its Spin-Loc attachment technology to upgrade your gun and increase its power* while losing a little weight. Or, if you already own a CF-bottle Texan, it's always a good idea to pick up a spare for those long days in the field.

Order yours today and help your Texan lose a little weight and gain a little power!

*Note: These carbon-fiber tanks will only fit .457-cal AirForce Texan PCPs. Additionally, while the bottle can be installed on older models, when this is done and lighter ammo is used, the lighter ammo may cause a valve lock or for the ammo to become stuck in the barrel.

Things I liked: super light weight

Things I would have changed: i personally would have opted for a cnc polymer buttstock that slips over the bottle vs the little "heavy" piece of steel that screws to the end of the bottle. that little piece of steel weighs almost as much as the bottle itself.

Things I liked: Solid OEM upgrade to my gun. No fuss... just installs nicely.

Things I would have changed: The but plate connection is a single screw (same as the original) I think some sort of detente to prevent it from moving once you've set would be helpful.

What others should know: It is almost TWO inches shorter than my aluminum bottle... kind of a big difference. Had to change my riser and adjust for the LOP.

Things I liked: Lightweight. Seems to be more efficient, getting a couple more shots out to 50 yards than expected.

Things I would have changed: Not sure why but seems do better at 3400 than max fill at 3600 for your first shot. Best load 45 Cal 350 gr. FP. At max fill first couple shots drop off as though tank was overfilled. I would recommend a test fire before taking hunting.

What others should know: The trade off in weight is good. You can keep your original tank as back up in the field.

  • Howard from USA asked:

Assuming keeping an up-to-date hydro test, and properly stored, how long can this tank (AirForce Spin Loc Carbon Fiber Spare Tank .457, TX2 Valve) be filled without leaking?

    • David from USA asked:

Would it be possible to install this tank on my Texan LSS .308 as long as I didn't fill above 2900 - 3000psi? I would like the weight reduction benefit even if I can't use the additional pressure.

      • Matthew from USA asked:

Will this upgrade be available in other calibers? If so, what's the eta? Thanks

        • Mark from USA:

We do not know if Airforce is going to offer a CF tank for other caliber guns. You would have to contact them for that information.
