Description
The Meopta Optika5 4-20x44 ZPlus Riflescope offers high magnification combined with a slim low profile for shooters and hunters. This scope gives fast close shots and easy long range shots due to its 4-20x magnification range plus a 5X zoom throw lever.
For a speedy way to return to the beginning point, the windage and elevation turrets have a zero-reset feature. They also adjust in 1/4 MOA clicks with a range of 60 MOA. The scope has parallax correction from 10 yards to infinity, a 44mm objective lens, and has eye relief of 3.6".
MeoBright ion-assisted fully multi-coated lens technology gives this scope 91% light transmission, and MeoDrop hydrophobic coating results in superior water repelling properties. With superior European optics, this scope shows a precise and defined sight picture in spite of poor lighting conditions.
The ZPlus second focal plane (SFP) reticle provides multiple lines and posts with convenient holdover points clearly marked on the bottom portion of the reticle and a large central dot.

This is a splendid 10m+ scope for the money. The Czech have a tradition making great optics and this has all the clarity and workmanship of a German or Austrian sight without the Porsche price tag. The reticle is modern yet not too busy. Given the listing on PA, I was concerned that it might be thick and clumsy. It's really beautiful and thin. The image quality of the scope is clear edge-to-edge even at 20x. I work regularly with a couple of old Leupold EFR scopes and this Meopta is every bit as good. If anything, the magnification appears even more generous at 20x than these older scopes. The side focus "range finding" seems to be spot on. Although this model is not equipped with fancy "target knobs" the ones supplied are simple, sturdy and have positive clean clicks. This scope is wonderfully compact compared to many of todays "tacticlunky" offerings. A great glass doesn't have to have a monster objective nor does it need a 34mm tube if it is well made. This proves it.
Things I Would Have ChangedThe rubber nubby grips for the magnification ring and dust caps for the adjustment knobs surprised me at first. However, upon further observation, they seem very well made and should last a lifetime. They also feel and function great and don't cut into fingers. I might like this feature even more this winter.
What Others Should KnowI'm looking forward to my next Field Target match using this scope! If you prefer a "heavier" reticle, this scope may not be for you.
