Description

The "Rifleman's Rifle" has been reborn as the Winchester 70 PCP Air Rifle.

Inspired by the bolt-action Winchester Model 70, this sidelever PCP follows its predecessor as a precharged pneumatic big bore airgun.  Powered by a 320cc air reservoir and with a fill pressure of 230 BAR (3,335 psi) the Model 70 will have no trouble slinging its rounds downrange.  With 6 full powered shots in .35 and five in .45, you can expect speeds exceeding 800 and 700 fps respectively blasted with a thunderous release of compressed air.  While the gun has no open sights, an 11mm Dovetail rail is ready and waiting for your own optics choice.

The cylinder rests snugly within a masterfully crafted beechwood stock, with traditional checkering on the grip and forend to provide a comfortable and stable hold. A hunter style safety keeps the Model 70 muzzled until ready to fire and a 2-stage adjustable trigger can be set to your preferred trigger pull.

The Model 70 PCP proves that Winchester is ready to enter the world of PCP hunting--are you?

I bought mine used and broken, sent it in for repair. Got it back and I love it!! Alot of people talk down on this gun about the speed, but my crossbow shoots 330 fps, this thing is shooting a 350 grn Vipellets hpbt at 620fps.. thats just under 300 ftlbs, plenty to do what i need it for! Im getting 3/4" groups at 50 yrds!

Higher fill pressure, more accurate gauge and a single shot tray! Also get rid of the fill probe and put a standard foster on it!

The quality is incredible too on this rifle its made like the 30-06 or .223 Winchester. I traded the Bulldog .357 and that was a plastic gun and felt cheap, this model looks beautiful too but I haven't fired it yet but put a nice scope on it and have to sight it too.

With a higher grain pellet is should have enough power to take down a whitetail or any hog. I didnt know they made a .45 but with a higher grain pellet your going to get stopping power.

Its allot of work pumping this up so a tank would be good too if you want to spend all day shooting with it your going to need it. Im 6 foot 4 300 lbs and about as strong as big and its allot of work. Also make sure if your using the adapter too put the plastic piece that comes with it or its not going to pump up with or without a tank.

Yeah Corey A korean rebadged Evanix will last a lifetime! Thats why Evanix models made 3 years ago are discontinued everywhere from countless Issues. Why do you think Pyramyd Discontinued carrying Evanix Airguns. Yeah they look great on a rack or shelf though. The bulldog is not all plastic either. Only the 2 lower stock halves are. The upper/shroud full length rail Is aluminum. The 2 lower halves arent cheap, chinsy or hollow sounding/feeling. I Have the DonnyFL Ronan, The Pitbull Arms extended reservoir, Depinger and there Plenum, power spring, barrel stabilizers, and other goodies. Its now soo quiet even with the Taurus Tune I finally got. Its now shooting 185gr Mr Hollowpoints at around 892fps for 326 ft-lbs. I can do 2"-3" groups @ 200yds and Routinely/repeatedly hit golf balls, clay pigeon fragments @ 125yds. I can throw It In a over the shoulder pack, backpack, hop on the electric bike and get into places you couldnt dream of with a 6 foot long pcp and It wont startle someone

Hey Baker, so offering a cheap brittle Indonesian sepatia stock, Is Innovation, leading market trends? Good luck with Hatsan. Customer support In Usa Is non existent. Hatsan have some good guns but they also have been making the same 6 foot long, 12 pound behemoth boat anchors, and marketing them as Hunting Pcps. Also Until the Piledriver they couldnt even shoot big slugs or even ballistic tip pellets. The Bully and Carnivore are good, besides tiny mags, The Gladiator is a bench gun or sit all day in a Big Box blind- hunting gun. After scope, sling, suppressor, your talking 15+lbs. Try walking all day with that or climbing mountains, then have to shoot it offhand. Countless people stated this and then they refused to listen and make the piledriver which is heavier and longer, not moderated! Then you add a scope, sling, the needed DonnyFL Emperor and Its 7 feet long and 16+lbs. It won't even fit a huge rifle case! How do you take that hunting? But They did listen and make it single shot

Baker, to each is own. Your Highly misinformed if you think this Bulldog Is a failure because its not pretty to you. Go check the forums, not a gimmicky site aimed at children. I have traditional, beautiful wood and blued pcp's too but none are as practical, compact and easy to conceal, throw in a small pack, easy to maintain, quiet, as powerful for Its size, as modular and customizable. That pretty bluing is a fingerprint magnet, cant get wet, needs to be wiped constantly with oil or It rusts Instantly. The plenty of Rail space on top and below makes adding any Night optic, AR accessory, light, bipod etc easy. I been In snow blizzards, rain all day. Had mine 5 years never a hiccup, taken countless game. You wont find another big bore as compact, as powerful, as modular, as customizable and the ability to use .35 Air bolts, Pellets, Roundballs, numerous slugs. Most of the big bores besides the Texan and hammer cant even use big slugs. There mags can only load pellets.

100 percent worthless review. . . A review is about how a gun operates. This person says they have not fired it yet, but gives it a review? Delete this review and have Pyramid Air start screening these reviews for content. Content that is meaningful, instead of :It is a pretty gun, I have to buy a scope for it, I have not shot it yet. But I know it is good quality. . .

baker Jun 27, 2021

@ matt the bulldog is the ugliest gun in existence , it looks like a dang 2x4 , wtf is wrong with Benjamin for putting out this eyesore without any advancements after all these years, no wonder they had to partner with kral for their new lineup of pcp's, they're so far behind market trends its a shame, no wonder people are buying the off brand winchesters and other foreign makers, ill take any Hatsan over that sorry looking Bulldog any day regardless of its reliability and functionality which it definitely has, just cant get past its looks , ugh my goodness.

Corey Oct 02, 2020

I ordered a Bulldog first and it arrived broken too and this might not be as powerful but will last a lifetime possible.

Matt Sep 06, 2020

Your a bright one, hahaha you traded a American made phenomenal powerhouse of a gun for a weaker Korean junk gun that's rebranded as a Winchester. Yeah it's about as much as a Winchester as a Chinese/Korean scooter. The bulldog Is a far superior gun, It more powerful, you can shoot slugs, roundballs and various other ammo and It's rifling Is meant for slugs too. The mags are 1000x better, It's more durable, more ergonomic, made better, more accurate. It's more powerful In .357 than this "Winchester" In .45.Try shooting a Deer at 75 yards with this and the Deer will have heard the crack and run 30 feet by the time that .45 slug gets there at 600fps. Your a real bright one I can tell

This is a beautiful air rifle, no doubt - first thing that strikes you out of the box or case. Also really happy I ordered the $20-for-$20 shoot test that PyramyAir.com does for you along with the scope mount - gives more confidence and they precharge the rifle - it came with 150 bar in it for storage until you're ready to take it to the range, then you know it will take 220 bar per the shoot test printout they give you. Mine was done with 166 grain pellets and you receive a printout of about 20 shots FPS.

The manual from Gamo needs improvement. Missing information on how to load and unload the rotary magazine into and out of the air rifle - it's easy but still needed info a proper manual should have. But you can find great video's on the reseller and youtube sites and pay close attention to some of them to learn how this all works. I noticed some people reviews did not realize an empty air rifle needs the lever pulled back to fill the rifle, too bad the manual is missing that info too. But you can get past those things by researching online. And I would like to see them get extra rotary magazines in stock - this air rifle can shoot about 2-3 magazines worth before having to refill, so having them sitting there waiting rather than constantly refilling one magazine, would be great. They really should sell this rifle with an extra one anyway.

This rifle's average maximum FPE (foot-pound energy) is indeed 199-200 which depends on the air-fill and the triggered air-blast which can naturally vary a little, and depending on the grain weight of your selected pellets (it can take 137, 150, 166, 180, 200 per various sources) will result in the FPS (feet-per-second) muzzle velocity of the pellet. FPE = 0.00000222 x GRAINS x FPS x FPS (yes that equation is accurate) if you want to do your own calculations. There was also one video on youtube that shows you how to increase the average maximum FPE a little - maybe 10% better which results in a little faster FPS. (Too bad that is also missing from the manual - Gamo please do better on the manual.) But as I keep looking out there at other air rifles, this Winchester model 70 .45 caliber continues to be about the best in FPE, in fact approaching some of the .45 caliber firearms FPE. Do your own calculations. If you are into PCP air rifles, you will want this one!

the Seneca (sam yang).35 recluse is 237 ft lbs stock after will piatt tune it will be about 300, The evanix rex bottle FA or aka Gamo TC45 is around 300ft-lbs, The Texan, Hammer, pile driver are about 4 times the energy and power of this. 500 fps with a .45 slug Is not good. To put that In perspective the Evanix Rex Pistol, In .45 and .50 with Smaller tank was doing 500 fps with 184 ft lbs. Great for real close range. Please Don't try taking game at far distances with this Gamo/Evanix/winchester. Get It tuned, and then It will be better. Im sure some tinkering could get it up there but the no support and tiny mags are the pitfall. Id print a single shot tray, Increase Hammer spring tension If possible, or change hammer spring, polish trigger, hammer, hammer spring, transfer port. You can drill out transfer port slightly too. But its a very small, fine difference. Its usually no more than 10 percent of the transfer ports hole size, then you can run a little more air cylinder pressure.

Matt Sep 06, 2020

600fps In .45 Is soooo slow that shooting any large game beyond 30-40 yards Is just sketchy. That's sooo much lag and arc. In reality this thing could take SMALL Deer at 30-40 yards but Beyond that, It wouldnt be effective. At that range It would be less. It's power level and velocity would be good for small to medium game, coyotes, boar at 30-40 yards. The problem Is at longer ranges not only are your losing velocity and energy but the lag and travel time means the animal would already be moving from the sound of the gun going off. I'm waiting on parts for my bulldog which will bring It up to about 300ft-lbs. In stock form I've taken doe's, spike bucks and a 6 point at up to 77 yards.

Matt Sep 06, 2020

It's actually very underpowered. 200 foot pounds in .45 Is atrocious and It's velocity in .45 Is about 600fps, also atrocious. For example the Dragan claw and light hunter and recluse are around 230-250, still very low. My bulldog In .357 stock Is 206ft-lbs with a 145 grain slug at 800fps. Now It's about 230-240. The Texan is doing 400-750ft-lbs depending on model. You want Power?! Go custom. Theres American Made and beautiful big bore PCPs In .45,.50,.72,.82 that are doing 600 to 1100 foot pounds.

Beautiful rifle overall and feels great holding it. If the local ranges were open, I could try it out.

Please sell extra accessory magazines for this rifle! It can do 2 or 3 magazines worth before refilling the air in the rifle, so you can see how that would be highly useful to us. I keep checking back with GamoUSA but there's a delay on them getting the products in.

The manual is rather terrible. It fails to show you how to load and unload the magazine in the rifle for one, and is poor at details on filling it with air. Recommend you go to youtube and search Winchester model 70 air rifle, and watch all the videos you can, in which you can learn how to do some of that from those who have done it.

The winchester 70-45 is deadly. So to richard idiot is just that a idiot. Acts like he is some kind of air gun guru. Comparing two guns that he obviously knows nothing about. This year i have shot two bucks one a 10 point mature deer at 110 yards he didnt run 30 yards a pilled up. Also shot young six point 50 yards. Ran maybe 25 yards. For the money a man cant beat the 70 45 for deer hunting

The stock looks nice

Received with bolt hole that secures stock stripped out. Poor design as there are 2-3 threads to the single M6 bolt that secures the stock. Returning for refund.

Now I know why they call the Winchester rifles the riflemen's rifle. A beautiful stock and barrel. I love how it shoulders. I have a number of big bore rifles that can hit 400 yds.+ I realized this was not the reason to get the win.70. I took off my big long range scope and replaced it with a crystal clear Nikon hunting scope. The rifle now has a wide range for moving animals etc. It is right on up to 50yds. I'd say if you can put some lead where you want it, animals up to coyotes go down quickly. Please do not try that unless you are darn sure you can make the shot. I use it up to 50 yds. Love it.

The mag is a bit funky sometimes hard to load. Maybe it's me.

So many nice guns hitting the market. Hopefully the glut of guns will bring the prices down. And for my next joke...

Powerful beast of a rifle. The stock and make is beautiful.

Add a power adjuster.

Still working on accuracy. It seems to be improving.I have started casting bullets and they shoot better than the ones I bought pre-made.I had to write the Company to get the manual and even then no one knew they were selling this rifle. Finally someone figured it out and I got the manual in the mail.Holds 3332 PSI or 232 bar.It is a beast of a rifle and has a good kick and is pretty loud too.Overall it is good and I intend to keep it barring and future problems.

eric Apr 04, 2020

there is a power adjuster take the stock of and its right there mine is in 45 and smackin a 1 inch and a half at 100 yards with 220 grain

James Apr 02, 2018

I have the 45 cal and have several weights of bullets but the best seem to be the 128 grain rounds.I pour my own bullets so don't really need any more.Accuracy is improving with each round of shooting.

Richard Mar 28, 2018

James, what weight bullets have you been shooting? What velocities have you got with them? Would you like to try our hollowpoints? I am not sure what caliber you have..is it the .35?
