It's very easy to tell that this is a first class LOW product, it compares very closely to the high end Bushnell Elite glass. Tracking is spot on and the reticle is very useable. Does it compare with tier one scopes such as Minox, Tangent Theta, or Zero Compromise, no, but it's not supposed to. Compared to other optics I've used for the actual street price of ~1500, it is every bit as good and better than most. For the MSRP of 1999, I think you could do better. For Expervoice's price it can't be beaten by anything in the same price range. If you're thinking about ordering one, go for it, you won't regret it.

COVID presented me with an opportunity to spend a lot of time with optics of various makes and styles over the last year. I've had samples from Steiner, Meopta, Vortex, Athlon, and more. I wrote up a lengthy review of the Athlon Ares ETR 4.5-30x56, which I found to be a very well-executed optic (minus a few personal reservations about the reticle- which is very much a personal preference thing).
The Athlon Cronus BTR Gen 2 takes everything I liked about the Ares ETR and improves upon it, and then some. The Cronus turrets are very distinct with just the right amount of resistance. The APRS6 reticle is perfect for me, solving all of the issues I had with "business" in other reviews.
Optically, it competes right alongside my Steiner, and even outperforms it when it comes to controlling chromatic aberration at higher magnification.
Everything on this optic is well executed, and clearly a lot of thought went into getting each feature right for precision shooters. Highly recommended.

All the benefits of higher priced optics at a solid price point. Highly recommended!

This is a high quality Japanese made optic. Easily on par with the Vortex Razor Gen II. Turret feel is excellent, reticle is excellent and glass is excellent.

This has been the best scope I've looked through yet. Clear through the magnification range , crisp, clear sounding turrets and the turrets stay true.

Great optic for the money. Has some really great features to compete with optics that cost more, but the glass is as good or better than those optics. I'm running this for PRS matches and similar. I wouldn't hesitate to grab this if you're in the market. It will serve a novice or seasoned shooter very well.

This scope's clarity and features put it on par with scopes that cost two to three times more.

Very clear glass. Excellent tracking. So far I have only been using it on an rpr. Awesome tactile knobs with perfect tracking.

I had a vortex viper when I upgraded to this scope. Night and day difference.

Spent the day at the range with this scope on a new rifle. Both worked great, I was able to zero in my scope with no difficulty and more importantly the scope held zero and I was able to see my target very close and clear.

Love Athlon products. The glass is amazing for the price you pay. The feel of the turrets is hands down the best out of any optic I have!

Among the best for the money. Excellent product, great service.

Super clear optic that gives you the ability to run both eyes open for up close shots and then the magnification to reach out to maximum effective ranges

Athlon scopes are pretty decent overall, equal with Vortex, but this model features the higher quality Japanese glass and is noticeably more clear than the lower line models. The 34mm tube provides more light and more elevation travel. I have 2 of these, mounted on PRS rifles, and have shot out beyond 1100 yards with no problem at all. I have a 30 MOA rail on my rifle (left over from when it was a .308), and in the current 6XC configuration I can dial out to 1750 yards before I have to start holding over with the reticle. This scope has elevation to burn!

Great value for a PRS scope. Tracks well and love the reticle. Used in a PRS match and jd a blast.

I have been using the new Cronus on my 6.5 RSAUM build and it has yielded excellent accuracy and repeatability. I also own the Gen 1 Cronus and like the reticle on the gen 2 slightly more.
The turret clicks are crisp and precise and it has been very good for me at a local PRS match helping me to easily clear stages that had previously given me trouble.
The optical clarity is excellent and has almost no chromatic aberration at the edges of the FOV unlike another even more expensive optic I own. I have had hits on steel out to 1600 yards on a 1 moa target and a 4 inch plate at 1000.

Running two of these on a 308 and 22LR rifles. Excellent edge to clarity, eyebox gets tight on high end, CRISP turrets, tracks like a Swiss watch. Excellent reticle, not too fine or "busy." Reasonable weight for its size especially compared to competitive options

I think the Cronus BTR is a great bang for your the buck. The glass is very clear and bright. The zoom range is nice and actually works at the highest setting. The new turrets are a nice upgrade. The tracking is accurate. There are several reticle options to choose from. The Athlon warrant is icing on the cake.
Not all is perfect though. I feel the eye box is a bit small when on the highest magnification, not horrible, but could be a bit more forgiving. for the cost I also with they would include a decent set of flip caps and a sun shade.
Overall It's a great value for what you get. I don't think there is much, if anything, in this price range that can come close to the Athlon Cronus BTR Gen 1 or Gen 2. I can recommended this scope and feel confident you'll enjoy it.
