Things I liked:

My name is Steve Sanderson, my email address is ssanderson@sio.midco.net, and my phone number is 605-214-4494.I spent 4 years 4 months and 3 days in Viet Nam as a combat Marine, and 14 months as a sniper. After going through 7 different pellet rifles, and sending them all back I asked PA for a recommendation for a got .177 break barrel pellet rifle, and was told to try the NPSS Remington .177 caliner. I purchase it in March, and right out of the box I new I had something special in my hands. I went into my basement to start the break in perios at 37'. I taped a paper target onto 3 one half inch pieces of sheetrock, and the pellets were going through the sheetrock and bouncing off the wall. I have since put thousands of rounds through this rifle, and am please to say using the H&N 8.64 grain domed pellets, that I have shot as far as 250', putting 7 our of 10 in a 2 1/2' bulls eye. At both 200' and 225' I put 10 out of 10 in the same bulls eye. My target is made out of a 1/4' piece of cardboard glued to a piece of 3/16" piece of tempered fiber board, and at 200' I was shooting one day and was hearing this plinking sound, and it turned out that the pellets were going through the target and hitting a not dumping sign 33' past the target. I have since named it my cannon, and have 4 other reviews on the website, of which I have sold over 30 of these for PA. You are welcome to contact me with any questions you may have.

Things I would have changed:

Just the trigger, as it seems all of the break barrel nitro piston rifles all have the same problem, a hard pull trigger which usually makes you shot up and to the right, contact charliedatuna.com, and purchase the GRB trigger, which goes from a hard pull trigger to almost a hair trigger, but once you get used to it, it makes a world of difference. I have a shooting drill I learned in sniper school and would be happy to pass it on to you, if you are willing to give it a try, and now that PA has what they call there 10 4 $10, which means a Tech. person will take it out of the box and shoot it 10 times to make sure there is nothing wrong with it, box is back up and send it to you.

What others should know:

Being sniper for 14 months, I learned that by keeping a notebook with your scope settings in it, after you have broken the weapon in, which I have found that if you want to shoot longer distances you need to put almost an entire tin of pellets through it. One of the guys that bought this because of the 4 other reviews I have on PA's website, ran it through a chronograph, using a 14.3 grain pellet, and the numbers were 1024 FPS, he also lives in Puerto, Rico, and using 10.50 grain crosman domed pellets, he is knocking down those though skinned Iguana's at 150' with one shot. Again please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on this rifle. I also have review on the H&N 8.64 grain domed pellets, the crosman 10.50 grain domed pellets, the Dewey .177 bore mop and the plano single scope or double non-scoped rifle case. I truly believe that you are missing out on the best .177 break barrel pellet rifle on the market

Things I liked:

I do not know, I have used just for one day, then it get stucked. I am very disapointed.

Things I would have changed:

Everything, since after some shots it is useless.

What others should know:

After a couple hundred shots the assembly lever bended (without apparently no reason), and the gun cannot be cocked. Now I am waiting for Crosman to see if they can solve my problem... very disapointed. Maybe I am just an unfortunate...

    Things I liked:

The rifle its self is very nice. Solid design. I have the .22 version, but I guess these are no longer being producded. Very quite compared to others. Resonable price for the whole package

    Things I would have changed:

The scope, or option to buy without the scope. From the other reviews I've read- seems like the centerpoint scope is the weak link- and the same held true with mine. Alot of people seem to report the site drifts and won't hold zero when shooting even at 20-30 yds. Mine was the same, scope would finally start to group at 30 yds after much effort then would drop off to an area 3-4 inches away (after 250 round through it).

    What others should know:

Though this may be an after-the-fact review since you can't buy these anymore, as someone who just bought one, the reviews helped out when considering trouble shooting. I'm going to take others adivce and try a reasonably priced Leaper's scope and see the results. I don't think the gun is the problem- from the large number of reviews regarding the scope- I believe its the scope.

    Things I liked:

This review is for the .177 caliber. Attached scope and zeroed indoors at 15yds. 1st shots 5" low 3" right. Fired 20 times hitting consistant same spot. Adjusted scope, pattern moved to 2"low 1"right. fired 20+ rounds hitting consistant. Readjusted hitting bullseye. Shot 20+ rounds all in bullseye 1" group. Moved to new 15yd target and shot constant 3/8 groups. 1 shot of 5 away from 1/4" group but still touching other 4. Moved to 40yd range no adjustmnet and the gun shot 1" groups 3" high consitantly. This means at 15yds the round was at the beginning of its tradjectory climb. Testing at further distance will require moving to a new shooting location. This air gun is a bit sensitive side to side when shooting even from sand bags but is very accurate. I shot 8.44 grn JSB Match Diablo pellets for the sight in and testing as recommended by another test I found on line. I did try 13.43 JSB Match Diablo Monster Diablo pellets as recommended by Pyramyd with the thought of critter control. The heavier pellets hit 5 inches lower and the sound was a definite indicator that 5 grns makes a big difference in velocity. All in all this airgun is very accurate.

    Things I would have changed:

The barrel is very heavy to break. Most women and children would not be able to break it open. The break barrel occasionally grinds a bit. I see that you can get a washer/spacer kit from Charlie Da Tuna that will help rectify the occasional grinding feeling while cocking. I have let off and tarted the cocking process again when feeling the slight grinding and it seems to help. Possibly some dry graphite or something of that matter at the hinge point might help. Go to the GTA forums for help! Also, after you shoot the air gun for a while you will wish the trigger was a bit better. This too can be rectified with a Charlie Da Tuna trigger. Again go to the GTA forums.

    What others should know:

Be deliberate in attaching the scope! Make sure the stop screw in the scope base is centered in the stop hole on the receiver. Tighten the scope base screws a few turns each, tightening them all gradually. Before tightening the scope ring screws completely, make sure you sight through the scope and move the scope forwards or to the rear to adjust to your comfortable shouldering position and eye releif position. Make sure the horizontal cross hair is level without cant. Again tighten all of the screws a bit at a time so the rings seat evenly. Re-check all of the screws. Once I mounted the scope it never moved!Be sure to watch the Pyramyd video on Artillery Hold if you are new to shooting. Bench shooting from sand bags will be most effective. When ordering from Pyramyd make sure they repeat every line of the order including your house number etc. I had a terrible problem with Pyramiyd messing up my order and had to make no less than 15 phone calls to get it straightened out. Make sure they are 100% accurate the first time. Look over your confirmation emails very carefully!. This is how I caught their mistake. It took me over one week to get my order. Just because they send you an email saying your order has shipped it may noy have. I received several emails saying mine shipped all the while it was still in their warehouse.

Me likes the feel of the rifle and the quality. The cocking action is not too bad i like it because my left arm is week and it acts as a excercise to strenthen my shoulder. Overall it is a nice product.

    Things I would have changed:

The scope is not to my liking first thing changed. I purchase a Nikon scope which is the cats meow sited in after 3 shots now im putting shots in the same holes on the target

    What others should know:

After seeing the demo video I was sold the only hard decision was the color Camo or black, Camo won out.I even purchased a Hard case for it to keep her nice and new lookin. thats all i have to say , when do i get paid for my opinion. Just foolin .

    Things I liked:

After three minths of ownership Im re-reviewing this .177 rifle and upgrading my rating. The rifle had re-occuring grinding and accuracy issues out of the box and thats why my initial rating was poor. After a complete kitchen table deburring of the piston, tube and barrel lockup the rifle now shoots one hole groups at 40 feet. Im very happy with it now even if I had to work on it to fix it.

    Things I would have changed:

Maybe increase the stock grip hole as it isnt thumb friendly for my hand

    What others should know:

Personally not the best dollar value for the extra work I had to put into it to make it group. But I did it and am happy with the results. I wouldnt be afraid to order another one.

I like that it's easy cocking. I also like the accuracy of the gun with the USB diablo exact heavy. Love the stock and is deadly accurate.

    Things I would have changed:

I would have changed the trigger and the plastic washers on the pivot point with I lil. Thicker brass washers. Also would have changed the way the gun locks into the upright position with something a little more heavy duty.

    What others should know:

    Things I liked:

This is a re review. After 700 rounds the grinding while cocking returned quick and painfully. Disassembly was a simple task and I deburred and resealed. The Nitro Piston was fine, the compression piston was not, having left some heavy scoring below the compression tube. After some serious polishing and lubing of both the piston and tube I was happy with the results but this should`nt have happened in the first place. I still enjoy the weight and carry characteristics of the rifle which is why I purchased it and will keep it as I dont expect the grinding issue to reoccur.

    Things I would have changed:

I blame quality control on the grinding problem.

    What others should know:

This gun now shoots 3/8 inch and better groups @40 feet and flyers are attributable to shooters hold. Groups best with heavier pellets and seems to do best with H&N 10.34 Barracuda Hunters.

    Things I liked:

USA made Remington NPSS in .177, digital camo; Nice weight and "carries" well for hunting. Factory trigger was suprisingly satisfactory but I upgraded to a CDT for an improvement.

    Things I would have changed:

A lot of "grinding" when cocking out of the box . So bad I almost sent it back to Pyramid. It lessened after light application of lube to the lower end of the tube and after 50 shots is a non issue. Accuracy is sporadic. (After 250 break in shots) At 40 feet off the bench sometimes three consecutive shots in a ragged hole then fliers an inch away. Using RWS super domes, super mags, and crossman destroyers. I will try another scope to eliminate optical issues or I have to blame my hold. But I do shoot a Benji Trail NP and an old gamo 220 springer off the same bench with no problems

    What others should know:

To be fair, I will re- review this Remington after changing scopes and another 200+ rounds of different types of pellets. Because I can get occasional good three or four shot groups I feel this gun will shoot consistently. (I probably should have returned this rifle to PA but much time has passed since purchase) No bad reflection on PA and their policies intended.

    Things I liked:

Just want everyone to know that I have owned my NPSS Remington .177 for a year now, and have put thousands of pellets through it, both hunting and target shooting, and you couldn't pry it out of my cold dead hands. Not one bit of trouble with it, and being almost 63 years old, I love the 20 pounds of pressure it takes to break the barrel. If I am sitting and target shooting, I can break the barrel sitting down.

    Things I would have changed:

Just the trigger, as it seems you have to do this no matter what nitro piston break barrel rifle you own. This one takes the GRB trigger, from charliedatuna.com

    What others should know:

Yes, I have shot several other models, and some of them take between 60 to 70 pounds of pressure to break the barrel, I mean you have to get up and stand on it. My friend Paul form Puerto Rico, who is shooting those tought skinned Iguanas with it at 150', using the crosman 10.50 grain dommed pellets, also as run this through a chronograph using a 14.30 grain pellet, and came out with 1024 FPS, some kind of power. I would put this up agains any .177 nitro piston pellet rifle on the market, and instead of being put together in China, it's put together in the good old USA

    Things I liked:

I would like to elaborate on a few things that I did not in my previous rewiew, and the most important is, that when you get your rifle broken in, and you get it sited in at your target distance. I will use 50' as an example. I think that it is very important to keep a notebook with your scope settings. I site mine in at 100', as I have another pellet rifle that I use up to 100', after that I use the NPSS Remington .177 caliber. I keep changes in my scope settings every 25', up to 225' when I am using the H&N 8.64 grain domed pellets. I keep the distance setting, the power number on the scope, and the number of clicks I raise the elevation. The reason I do this is if I am shooting at 200', and use my range finder and want to drop down to say 125', I can look at my notes and scope settings to drop down to 125', and the rifle is so accurate that you will be able to do this. Its really an amazing weapon, and I really don't think either PA or Remington realizes the power this rifle has.

    Things I would have changed:

    Just the Trigger.

    What others should know:

I am working with my friend Paul in Puerto, Rico, and he is going to do some work with his chronograph, using both crosman 10.50 grain domed pellets, and the H&N 8.64 grain domed pellets and see what the FPS comes out at. The other thing I have learned about this weapon, is that using the 10.50 grain domed pellets it is very accurate just past 150'. Using the 8.64 grain domes pellets I have found that it is very accurate up to 225'. It is a good pellet rife, and I like the fact that it is assembled in the USA.

Lightweight and ergonomic compared to other air rifles I own. Quiet and easy to cock. Packs a real punch. The Beeman .22 Silver Bear 12.65 grain hollow points are very accurate with this rifle and make short work of the numerous urban pigeons that plague us here. The gun is so quiet that the pigeons will often regroup soon after a shot whereas my springer will scare them off for a good long while.

    Things I would have changed:

I didn't like the scope; had a hard time sighting it in. Replaced it with a SigSauer red dot sight (using a dovetail to weaver adapter) and is now perfect for close-in anti-pigeon work in my backyard. Neighbors are none the wiser.

    What others should know:

Trigger is very good right out of the box. Using 12-14 grain pellets at 10-25 yards quickly and humanely dispatches any urban pigeons foolish enough to roost on my property. Because of its size, weight and ergonomics it's very easy to poke my head out of my garage, acquire my target and engage, all in a few seconds.

Accuracy. Power. Quiet. Opted for the .22cal and mounted a Leapers 4-12x44AO 30mm scope. Still light enough to shoot off-hand with a scope mounted. By far my favorite air rifle among 2 M-rods, an AR6, and a Socom Extreme. 30 yard groups are mostly one ragged holes with RWS Superdome pellets (shooting from a low kneeling position with a Shooter's Ridge bag propped up on top of a box).

    Things I would have changed:

Adjustable cheek piece is OK but only goes up higher one position. Stock seems a little short so I have to be mindful of length of pull. I wish it had the integrated sling mounts like its counterpart, the Benjamin Trail NPXL.

    What others should know:

Noticed there was a significant amount of play in the barrel after about 600 shots. Found the barrel pivot bolt came loose. There's a threadlocked setscrew that's supposed to keep the bolt head from moving but I guess that came loose as well.

Awesome rifle, very easy to cock, lighter, and shorter than my Benjamin BT-1500WNP. Extremely accurate right out the box.

    Things I would have changed:

Provide a thicker scope rail mount. Mounting the scope was a challenge, the rail is very narrow. Scope and rail had to be perfectly aligned in order to tightened or scope would slide off. A Shoulder Strap option would be appreciated; give the customer the option on if they want to use it.

    What others should know:

It is an absolute pleasure to shoot; I go back and forth between my Remington .22 and Benjamin .177. Just go back into air rifles since I was a kid and these are the absolute best and so much fun. Have not had a chance to take down small varmits but on the lookout.

Everything. I have had the honor of owning the NPSS Remington not for about 2 months. And would pay $400.00 for it. I had tried several, including the Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk, which basically fell apart within a week, sent it back and asked Wendy to recommend a weapon that I could count on, so she recommended the NPSS (AMERICAN MADE) Remington.

    Things I would have changed:

I would recommend that you get a GRB trigger from charliedaytuna.com, as the factory trigger pulls so hard, that my tri-pod would jump when I shot it.

    What others should know:

My last review ended with putting 9 out of 10 in a 2 1/2" bullseye, the 10th was on the black circle. I was a sniper in Viet Nam for 13 months, so I have keep notes on scope adjustments from 100' to 225', in 25 foot increments. Once it is sited in at 100', you don't have make any adjustments until 150'. I am pleased to say that yesterday I moved to 250', and put 7 out of 10 in the 2 1/2" bullseye. I am here to tell you this weapon has power to burn. After trying several different pellets, I have settled in on H&N 8.64 grain domed pellets. The wind does not affect these pellets until you get to around a 20 mph wind. Like I said I have keep all of my notes and adjustments for each yardage, and if I can help anyone, my email is ssanderson@sio.midco.net, happy shooting, and if you are debating wether to buy this weapon or not, please give it a try. It is well worth the money.

    Things I would have changed:

A scope is really bad, cannot stay zeroed and not so accurate. Trigger is also bad for more accurate shooting. Everything else is OK with this riffle.

    What others should know:

This is my fourth NP air rifle in .22 cal, and the best one what I have ever owned. After approximately 300-350 rounds the riffle has become to be more accurate, after 750-800 rounds very accurate. At 35 yards could keep around quarter sized group, or so. Then replaced the scope and trigger, and after 1400 rounds got a lot of penny sized groups with a few occasional flyers. For me, very, very good accuracy. Used JSB pellets 13.43 grains. For a Leapers scope paid around $70.00 and for the CBR trigger $30.00 In total of $400.00 I got what I wonted.

Old habit from my days of being a sniper in Viet Nam for 13 months.

    Things I would have changed:

    Trigger

    What others should know:

This is in addition to my 3 previous reviews tha are posted under Steve from the USA. Yesterday I went out to see if I could get 225'. I raised the elevation 6 clicks, which was to high, so I dropped back 2. And put 10 rounds in a 2 1/2 " bullseye. This is shooting from a make shift tri-pod made from one of my camera tri-pod. Today I am building a bench rest for shooting. And there is not doubt that up to 225' I will be able to group pellets tighter, and put them on top of each other. When I get the bench resh made I am going for 250', and the weapon has the power to do it. Again if you would like to see my targets from 200' and 225', I have scanned them and saved them in my computer and would be happy to email them to you. My email is ssanderson@sio.midco.net

    Things I liked:

One word in a nutshell, wow. I have had it for around 3 weeks, and would pay $400 for it. Quiet, light weight, well balances and sharp looking. See shooting stats below

    Things I would have changed:

    What others should know:

The breakin period is suppose to be around 100 rounds or so, but if you expect accuracy in longer shooting you need to pump atleast 500 plus rounds through this weapon. Using H&N 8.64 .177 cal. pellets here are my shooting stats. Yesterday I went out for the third time to see if I could get 200'. I had keep stats for my scope adjustments from my second shoot. I went back to 100', sighted in, went to 125' 100% in a 2 1/2" bullseye only makeing scope adjustments. Went to 150, raised the elevation 6 clicks, made the scope adjustmens 100% in the target. Went to 175 raised the elevation 6 clicks, made the scope adjustments 100% in the target. Went to 200', raised the elevation 6 clicks, and put 10 rounds into the 2 1/2" bullseye. 9 inside the target and one on the black that I had drawn my circle with. I scanned and emailed the target to Pyramyd Air, and I guess they passed it on to all of the staff. But I have save the best for last. My target is made form a 1/4" piece of cardboard, laminated onto a 1/8" piece of tempered fiberboard. And at 200' the 8.64 grain H&N pellets blew through both pieces and a oouple of pellets hit a medal sign around 30' past my target. I would say that is some power folks. Your missing the boat if you don't give this weapon a try. I am heading out to see if I can get 225', will keep Pyramyd Air posted
