I purchase the 177 caliber refurbished model @ a fairly discounted price . When I received, it looked new, no cosmetic issues. Picatinny /Weaver is much better than the 11 millimeter dovetail in my opinion. The cocking lever operates very smoothly & has a good trigger out of the box. The 177 is fairly quiet, backyard and indoor friendly. The Moderator is decent -about 6 " long and inside the shroud. The barrel is threaded inside the Shroud and the moderator creates tension on the barrel for improved accuracy. The stock is nice and seems to be a good quality.

The magazines are problematic. It took some time for me to adjust it so it's fed and rotated correctly.

They appear to be good quality guns. I had problems with the magazine but I think I have that fixed. There are too many components to the magazine, screw Springs- if one screw or grub screw is out of alignment it won't rotate or fit inside the action. They should have made it simpler with less components this would have been better. Accuracy is pretty good, but not as good as my Edgun. Trigger components are easy to work on and seems to be polished fairly well. The safety is a push through type, mine didn't indicate which way was safe, no red color. I added a clear coat to my stock which makes it look nicer. The butt pad is pretty simple a non-adjustable. Mine came set on high power. Shooting about 1050 ft per second with 10 grain. The hammer spring on mine was not externally adjustable. You have to remove the stock and knockout 2 stainless steel pens.

I purchased a refurbished .177 caliber. The 300 bar fill gives you a lot of shots before refilling. Cocking lever is very smooth is nice but kind of bland not much grain.

I'd like a nicer stock, something close to a daystate. Magazine didn't work initially when I got it but after tinkering with it we're close to an hour I got it to work. Shouldn't have to do that on a new gun. A single shot tray would be nice.

It's a nice gun and it shoots very well. But for the price point there are a lot of other air rifles which are nicer and have a better/cheaper magazine design. There are too many components to the magazine to make it reliable in my opinion. This gun is difficult to fill with a hand pump especially up to 300 bar.

Beautiful rifle. Solid design and quality. Easy to load. Amazing accuracy. Extremely powerful.

The safety cannot be engaged when rifle is not loaded and ready to shoot. I would prefer if it worked in both loaded and unloaded modes. Also, I wish it could be slightly liter.

You cannot charge it with a hand-pump, so consider buying Nomad portable compressor which is also a pretty solid and useful tool to use with this rifle. Oh, almost forgot. DO NOT buy H&N Sport Grizzly pellets for this rifle because they will fell of the magazin because of the ammo "Bullet Shape". You still can use them for one by one manual load.

Nothing

Needs to function right out of the box for $1500.00

Magazine latch should be pre adjusted from the company and did not send a allen wrench to do it with. Clip is out of line with the barrel. JUNK!!!

Well good luck bro be careful. I just get pissed because I see the gimmicks, the bull and I see people getting shafted all the time. I've shot high end firearms my whole life so I know quality. Anyway, I Just saw a post the other day and a guy opened one up and Its reservoir was filled with corrosion. There great when they work and they are accurate because of the German lothar Walther barrel and some people have found some diamonds in the rough so to speak. Some have tinkered, and worked on them to make them nice. I don't mind tinkering, polishing triggers, and safety's, polishing and burnishing parts but at that price You shouldn't NEED to. I don't like them. I don't think there quality warrants there price. There's much better REAL Russian quality out there like EDGUN, and they make the Matador, Leyla and Leshiy. There phenomenal!! Check em out.

I just bought one of the .357 refurbs from PA after watching some YouTube reviews showing the accuracy and stability of shot strings due to the gun's regulated pressure. The rifle I received from PA had a plain stock (no varnish or checkering like the one in the picture above), but otherwise looked fine out of the box. There was no manual, but the .pdf on the PA site can easily be printed out. Now you have me worried after reading your review lambasting the gun I just bought. I will charge up the refurb in the morning and run some pellets through it to see if I bought a decent rifle or someone else's problems. So far, PA has always sent me quality products, so I'm hoping they carefully checked out this rifle before sending it to me. According to one reviewer on YouTube, the "sweet spot" for shot accuracy starts at 250 BAR and not at a full bottle top-off. My first generation big bores have the typical third or fourth shot pellet drop, which should not be a problem with this new gun.

Disgruntled? Well If you spent $1500 on a Airgun, experienced numerous Issues, then you would be disgruntled too. My buddy had several. Every one had Issues. Yeah there accurate when they work, because the only thing done right In them, Is the german made Lothar Walther barrel. They have no quality control. This Is evident when seeing the countless reviews through numerous Airgun sellers, all stating quality control Issues that should of been rectified before being boxed. Theres No consistency. Also, by the way, when your spending $1500 on a "hunting" pcp, a measly 115 foot pounds In a .357/.35 pcp Airgun Is laughable. Not to mention Being limited to 81 grain JSB pellets In a "hunting" rifle, Is just non-sense. Yeah that's fine for small/medium game at shorter distances but that won't be enough for large game. Most states that allow large game hunting with pcp's, have a caliber/power requirement which Is .35 and up and at least 300 ft-lbs.

When people write a review they should write it so it don't sound like a disgruntled customer.

There junk!! I've handled Atamans and was not Impressed. I've also handled, shot real firearms my whole life, Including guns that were $5,000-$15,000. Most airgunners (not all) wouldn't know quality because firearms by nature have to have more quality due to there design. It's a known fact that Ataman are the #1 returned Airgun In the Industry and It's also a fact that they lack quality control. How can you ask $1599-$2000 for a gun that lacks a true 2 stage trigger and that has uneven scope base machining, or mag alignment Issues, barrel alignment Issues!! Also they don't bevel or chamfer the edges on the fill port so they shred your probes 'o' rings. Also there's multiple Issues with fill ports not lined up, so you can't fill your gun because the opening Is against the barrel. Maybe you can excuse these things but I myself, and apparently a growing number of others, can't and won't. That's what you see on a $200 gun, not almost $2,000!

I am a senior air gunner & own a ATAMAN m2r bullpup .35 cal.as well as many other big bore air rifles & they are not just PLINKERS, this is a very dependable hard hitting air rifle. i will gladly by another !! i don't write reviews or pay much attention to them either but i felt compelled to !

Matt Sep 30, 2019

to the untrained eye everyone thinks there great and have top notch machining. There all juiced up to look "tactical" and look like "sniper rifles". Whats amusing Is for the price Ataman Is asking you could buy a custom made airgun right here in U.S.A. that would dessimate any Ataman. oh it shoots jsb 81 grainers great! lmao, at 143 foot pounds lol ha ha. Its a cool looking plinker that cant shoot any real heavy bullets, and you cant hunt with It because It weighs a ton. So Its a $1500+ paper puncher. Just like alot of those Evanix snipers and bullpups. Oh they look tactical and Its covered in rails!!! We need more rails!! haha lmao Not worth $1500, or even $1000.

Matt Sep 30, 2019

John your right, Ive got a buddy that has owned 3 different Atamans, AP16 Pistol, BP17 bullpup, and the M2R Carbine Ultra Compact. They all had Issues. Some were minor annoyances: jams, pellet feed Issues, resevoir and fill probe hole Installed upside-down and against barrel, where you couldnt Insert probe, and when/If you could, It would shred "O"rings. He wouldve fixed and overlooked those Issues but then there were substantial ones: Not holding air-leaking after a couple months, scope base off. He got so fed up that he sold the m2r, and ap16 and returned the bp17. There quality control Is lacking big-time, and there machining Is not worth the price there asking. There over there laughing at us for being so stupid to pay there asking prices. Whats Hilarious Is Ataman markets there products as "powerful hunting guns", and all juiced up and look like "tactical Sniper" rifles and everyones drools. The truth Is there ALL plinkers, that only shoot pellets, or very small bullets.

JOHN Jun 28, 2019

Don't ignore it, I have ordered and returned 4 ataman products, the stuff is junk.

Leonid Jun 16, 2019

Totally useless and not objective review from frustrated customer. I would recommend everybody just to ignore it.

I have a career 707 in 9mm but this is a different animal all together! i had this crow that comes around every morning at about 6am. and loud! Got my Ataman .357 and JSB pellets, yes i no its over kill but i had to do it so every one can sleep in the morning. 100 feet up and 100 yds to the north in a old oak tree. Loud, aim, one mil dot over its head and hit him dead center chest. all i saw was a cloud of dust and feathers. I found a head, one leg and two wings and a mess that looks like Jell-O. I can now sleep in the morning.

It hits like a sledge hammer. I put a Donny FL suppressor on and tamed the noise. If the barrel was three inches shorter in the shroud it would help with the noise.

The JSB'S and the Nosler are the best for accuracy.

Out plinking around Sep 05, 2020

I also have a Career Ultra (9mm), and I love it for it's accuracy, even using inexpensive round balls that roll from the clip into the chamber. If this new M2R I just bought is anything like the six Korean rifles I own, I'm going to enjoy myself cleaning up the crow problem I have at my house. I bought JSBs and Noslers along with other brands to find which ammo my new gun likes best. It won't take long, and I already have the Donny FL adapter along with a choice of three of his larger moderators. Unlike live ammo, the JSBs and Noslers are light enough to drop from the sky before reaching my neighbors a half mile away (just in case I miss on the first shot). I also picked up some hollow points to scare the Canadian geese off my grass alongside a pond in the front yard. One pop of an expanding pellet in the pond, when the geese are ignoring me, and the whole flock takes off. After that, they no longer ignore me. These guns aren't toys, but they make me feel like a kid again! Yes!

Extremely fantastic Airgun very accurate, quality of the build is great best that I own. I I I I have 18 different Airgun's and by far is the best that I have. Terrific trigger about 10 ounces can't say enough about this gun

I would try to decrease the noise level if possible

It's a bit pricy but well worth the money

Skinnymitch Sep 15, 2017

I have the 357 or 9mm with the olive rubber stock only thing I don't like about it is it's heavy and a little bit of noise reduction wouldn't hurt the overall super super happy
